Oh sure there is other stuff to be excited about at E3, but I'm holding out hope for at least an announcement and maybe the title of the next DA thing. If there isn't a trailer, so be it, but I'd just be really surprised if we don't hear anything out of BioWare besides The Old Republic.

After all, its about 7.5 months until February 1st, and most other games coming out in that time frame have already been revealed and had trailers and such. Why not Dragon Age?

Haha, wall of pics! I just hit the return from the Wilds part of the Arcane Warrior's game and let me say that I love that new awesome cutscene. (Also, from certain angles my character looks way too much like Alistair for comfort for Charsens new scenes, I'm going to have to fix that.)

I however did not have the option to turn Morrigan in to Greigor. I probably just missed the dialogue as I was only half looking, I just wanted to see her throw fireballs and split, then reload. What's the dialogue tree to get that?

Swoo, you almost gave me a heartattack. I thought it was Alistair, but it was just your Alistair-clone:lol:

Blah! I love the Sacred Ashes robes for Morrigan, but I can't stand all of the face morphs! Blasphemy, I say!

You need to either let Irving get killed or tell Greagoir that Irving may be a blood mage (or whatever response it is to make him surrender to the templars). The next line will be Morri saying "The Circle has fallen" or something along those lines, one of your responses to this is "Morrigan is an apostate mage." This should kick of the scene.

I'm sorry Brock but it's an amazing morph, far superior to the original - which is still damn good. It's based off the radiant Madam Johnson, and given exactly the same skin tones and makeup as the OG, so it's basically just better facial structure/a bit more youth. Quit being crotchety and admit that it's superior!

My dearest Alistarian fan, it tricks me too. It's such a shame, I was trying to get better at making legit faces in the toolset so I tried to get as close to me as possible and it looked pretty decent in the toolset (The portrait's pretty close, can't seem to thin faces without making them look emaciated though), but I'm having a lot of trouble judging what's legit in the toolset and what's legit in game. I've noticed a lot of distortion with my own and others stuff like this...

Maddening. Completely. Totally.

But hey, Maric did visit the Mage tower, and he isn't that huge on self control. I guess I can just RP Rhys Amell as another bastard of Maric, and post-Landsmeet I'll succumb to my Evil Twin syndrome, knock off Alistair, and then rule Ferelden with an Iron Fist of Lightning Goodness as I build a Mageocracy.

Mmmm, evil twin...

Ah fantastic! I'll reload and check it out.

I can't remember, Blademaster are you a PC player? I've been keeping all my saves seperated so I can test out new scenes, I can upload my Mage's saves if you want to download and check out the Circle Tower/Return from the Wilds stuff?

Those screens reminded me I need to install Charsen's latest version of Kisses. Hell, at some point I may actually get to experience all these fixes for myself.

@Swoo The reason why some features in the toolset don't carry over is because they operate completely differently in the CC than in the toolset, from the feature selection eye shape and nose shape are the main offenders. In the CC those sliders are actually switches set to 0.50 so if you use them in the toolset and set them to 0.25 they automatically are set to 0.50 when you load the .mop in the CC. The work around is to use the savegame file to point to a .mor of the face since they are always exactly the same as the toolset morph.

Aww, you should Terra. They've made it pretty damn awesome. I did a rogue playthrough that ended up with my Cousland running off to Orlais with Leliana to be a dashing highwayman (in my mind), and killing some bard chick in Denerim and getting the redhead a gopher-pig-thing comes nowhere near to killing an abom of legend-dragon-witch-thing, liberating magical secrets, and purifying a god's soul.

Leliana may be cool but Morrigan is ridiculously awesome.

Interesting, I did not know that.

I'm having to learn as I go. I'm basically a caveman who got a TV remote to work assbackwards and is figuring things out through trial and error. What exactly do I need to do to get the file out of the .das file to be able to edit?

Well honestly, I didn't expect anything from BW for E3 2010. We have to be honest with ourselves here, it's just too soon. DA:O was released in Nov 09 (just 8 months ago) and and ME 2 was released this past Jan (just 6 months ago). C'mon, we all know deep down inside that it's WAY too soon...BUT, there may a surprise or two!!!!

See, I can do hope. I'm always here for the hopelessly hopeful. Cheer up Brock and Company. Remember, a sequel WILL be released.

Go find some other games to play and get into. Certainly there's other things that you might find some interest in. 'Red Dead" seems a worthy title...and just pop up here from time to time to keep up the vigil and for a little like-minded bro or rant time.

The up side of being a shooter thug, is that I've got GOW3 and Reach to look forward to, not to mention I saw something on the schedule about "the future of XBOX." Okay, so I have to suffer through that Natal [see, we can do Wii and make couch potatoes feel like they're getting "exercise"], nonsense, but that's a small price to pay for two new sequels to the marquee XBOX titles.

I have to admit though, I don't know which way is up on the Feb 2011 DA thing. EA/BW is successfully playing their hand close on that one. Also, any idea what this "far-reaching" Mass Effect stuff I'm hearing about is?

No Morrigan face morphs for me either.

That said really nice screenshots Swoo.

Is your mage wearing effort set? I don't think I've seen an arcane warrior set that looks like that.

I use Improved Atmosphere which is AWESOME. It does a lot of things to the game that are completely balanced as long as you play on Hard or Nightmare mode (because it tweaks difficulty so Hard mode is actually 'normal' Nightmare, and Nightmare is a Nightmare plus). One of the best thing is it adds a ton of new drops and new skinned items and item sets to the game. My mage is actually wearing the Fade Armor Set that you get at the tail end of the Circle quest off the Sloth Demon, which is a +Electricity/Arcane Warrior plate set. Once I build up about 120 gold, I'll buy the Super Enchanters staff and then use Winter Forge to make myself a Caster Greatsword and throw the staff away. I'm odd with mods, I'll mod the hell out of the game but I'm really itchy about keeping the balance.

I mainly just pick at people when it comes to face morph's. What's good for my game is good because it's MY game. But honestly, when you see the skill and the skins people have come up with, they just decimate what Bioware put together. Alistair is the only one I haven't been able to touch because all the skins I've seen of him are just a bit too feminine (which is funny seeing as I somehow managed to make a morph of him on accident).

If you like OG Morrigan I'm cool with that because I like OG Morrigan mighty fine. I just like Morrigan Johnson way better.

If you can load the savegame .das (they get massively bloated in the late game, usually more than 7GB opened up in the toolset by the end) It's SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR then SAVEGAME _PLAYERCHAR_CHAR then SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE, the last line in there is called SAVEGAME_APPEARANCE_MORPH_NAME there you can type in the name of any .mor file and make it use that instead. A design in the toolset can be used if you export the design but don't tell it to make it a .mop. You can play the game and use the toolset to edit the face as you go, since every new export will replace the previous .mor file.

I can easily swap faces mid game already but I thought you were saying there was a way to load up the face in the toolset of a game in progress. Perhaps I'm just reading you incorrectly, but it sounds like making a new face and replacing it instead of alterations to an existing one?

Thanks for the info on improved atmosphere mod. Might check it out.

Also, don't take my post about Morrigan morphs personally. I was just saying that I would never alter her vanilla face in any way, since I find it to be perfect for me.

If you found a mod that works better for you, then by all means use it.

I ceirtainly won't tell you what to use or not use in your own game. :)

If you made the face in the toolset to begin with then you can just keep exporting new versions to the toolsetexport folder thus replacing the face when you load it up with the new version. However if it was made in the Character Creator then no there is no way to edit the face once made you have to make a new one in the toolset and use that method or start over. Apparently there is a utility that can be used to transcribe the information in the .das into a workable .mor but you can only really change textures, tints and hair not the geometry of a face that is impossible, .mors and .mops cannot be turned into toolset morphs.

Ok yeah, we are on the same wavelength. I just misconstrued your original post and thought you were saying something different, no biggie.

And Shori, no biggie I wasn't insulted. I figured as much. You really should give IA a go, it's awesome. Just make sure to create a brand new character for it, the new stuff starts right from the Origins game so it's fun to experience and you can miss out on some neat gear like the Cousland royal blade or the new Dwarven armor skins.

With regard to using face morphs and creating your face in the toolset, there is a nice guide available on the wiki. It covers how to directly apply a morph to your character so that you can avoid the distortion problem that Swoo mentioned above. http://social.biowar..._morph_tutorial

In addition to fixing the distortion I also like this method since it makes all your saved games reference a single face file, as opposed to storing a copy of the face in each individual saved game. The advantage is that if you want to edit your face, you can go change that single file and all of your saved games will reflect the new face automatically.

The only downside I'm aware of is a visual glitch with Fade Shapeshifting. It has no mechanical impact on gameplay, it just makes the Fade Shapeshifting forms look a bit weird.

Oh its all a matter of taste, no doubt. Hell, I remember I think in February or January 09, back when Origins was supposed to come out in March 09, they released screenshots of the updated Morrigan (the vanilla one) and people were complaining how she looked too sexed up. And heck, people were complaining about Claudia Black's voiceover! For comparison's sake this video was from October 2008 and shows just how drastically Wynne and Morrigan had  makeovers- and especially Morrigan in both look and voice (skip to about 8:10 for Morrigan)

Can you imagine this being Wynne?
Posted Image

Or better yet, this is Morrigan!
Posted Image

I like the vanilla Morrigan just fine- I think (but have no proof) that the models for Leliana and Morrigan were used very early on just to give the BioWare people an idea of something to get started with and were clearly used as models for the Sacred Ashes trailer. Yet just like with concept art, that sort of thing is used to give the designers inspiration, not necessarily a hard and fast blueprint to work from.

Thats my problem with too many face morphs- they're trying to claim that BioWare messed up in replicating Victorria Johnson's face when that was not their intention at all for the vanilla Morrigan- they did what fit her character best.

Another gripe is that with too many of the Morrigan face morphs, no matter how well done they are, is that they make her look too young and end up messing with her eyes too much. Morrigan is supposed to be late 20's to early 30's per Gaider and I think most morphs make her look like late teens to early 20's, IMO. Its all personal preference, really though.

Its just that every time I see a face morph, I'm reminded of this comic by the wonderful Aimo:

I'm all for surprises!:o But honestly, if BioWare is going to release a DA game in February 2011, which by all accounts there will be something in fiscal Q4 2011 per EA, then why would it be too soon for BioWare to announce it? Dead Space 2, Gears3, The Witcher 2, Bulletstorm are just a few games all coming out in the same window (fiscal Q4 2011) that have all been revealed.

And I highly highly doubt that they only started work on DA2 after November 09. The game (Origins) was basically 99% DONE by the original March 2009 PC release date and BioWare didn't do the port to consoles, Edge of Reality did. So chances are they've been working on DA2 or whatever the 2/1/2011 thing is for at least a year by now. I mean most people though it was crazy that Awakening was coming out a mere 4 months after Origins when in fact they'd been working on that for about 1 year. Its entirely possible.

ME3 on the other hand....yeah, that would seem awfully soon. SO unless they were working on both ME2 and ME3 simultaneously I don't think we'll see anything beyoned MAYBE an offical announcement or something little.

The fact that BioWare has been so quiet about the 2/1/2011 thing makes me think it will be a surprise reveal at E3. Sure, we know its coming, but nobody has a clue what its about or anything- than BAM! surprise! Its Dragon Age 2! Well, thats my hope anyway.

As for the far-reaching ME thing- my thought is that its either an expansion pack or possibly some sort of multiplayer/ co-op expansion pack.

There are definitely other things I'm excited about at E3, but Dragon Age lies far above anything else. :wizard:
