Understanding that your fans will have their own insane expectations and will get angry if they feel they're not getting met even though they haven't played the game and putting up with it?

You Sir. Are a God.

What are you tryinig to say here...seriously?

In the spirit of fairness, we will assume for now that you are not casting insults of "insanity" at anyone or any comment contained in this thread until you've definitively demonstrated yourself the starry-eyed, emotionally unstable stalker your post seems to imply at face value.

Because if you are attempting feeble insults in the name of fanboyism, you have neither read the many well thought-out and articulate comments contained within this thread or not attempted any use of the many fine mods to the game that have been given life because of it; of course the possibility exists that you very well might be an obsessed, cave-dwelling  troglodyte making a futile attempt to suppress valid criticisms of a product you've snapped over, in which case you can count on being ignored.

But for now, we'll give you the benefit of the doubt and just assume that you mean well, but have no knack for the written word and failed epically to convey your true meaning for the benefit of those who frequent this thread, and due to this lack of articulative ability have mistakenly come across to this thread's community as insanely idiotic.

BTW, David Gaider would most likely be insulted to be deified.  I bet he would prefer constructive criticism (like that contained in this thread) to assist him in delivery of an even better product to you in the future.

Insane expectations?

Based on what exactly?

Maybe on the fact that Morrigan's epilogue after DR hints that we haven't seen the last of her or the child?

Or maybe it's based on the epilogue in Awakening where the Warden goes on in search of Morrigan without the player having a say in it and we get the "his story isn't over" line.

Ofc, none of those could possibly be taken as hints of things to come in the future, oh no!
There is no reason to believe that we may encounter Morrigan again in a future DA game.

In all honestly, I find it hard to believe that David Gaider is ignorant of what was written in epilogues for Origins and Awakening, since he is the lead writer for both games.
I respect the fact that he can take DA in any direction he wants and isn't obliged to give us the story that we desire, but I honestly doubt he'd write such an epilogue if he truly didn't plan to continue the story of Warden and Morrigan.

It would have, after all, been so much simpler not to write those lines and leave the fans guessing, rather than hint at thing that may come and thus build expectations.

It wasn't directed at you, Jesus. It was a general statment about most people that work on games. They get mad if people have expextations and they feel they're not getting met without playing the game. But he says he's fine with that and undestands it which is awesome.

Another one? Christ, well at least you gave me the benefit of the doubt. Read the post above this one it should explain it.

What he meant to say and what he actually said were two very different things, you may want to reread it
before popping in to drop a little snark. I think we've done rather well that if someone is anti-Morrigan or just on the
fence comes in to talk/debate and not to go into a frothing rage and ramble on like a hur-hur troll (which I am not claiming the poster Slidell is, that was more a general statement than anything.), then we talk reasonably. We've kept pretty much ontopic (if not falling into a bit of a circular trap from time to time), and kept the drivel to a reasonably low level.

The problem with the quote he praises from Gaider (which lead to the previous two replies) is
there is a difference between unrealistic expectations and expectations that have been set up by the ones who actual deliver that which you want. Forming a game in your head and then becoming enraged over the fact that what is delivered is nothing like what you wanted is one thing, being led/hinted/hooked towards plot-points and expecting that is something alltogether different. They told us the Warden's story is not over with in multiple ending slides, hinted at some form of continuation by saying to hold onto your DA saves, they have told us Morrigan will return, the Old God Baby could be nothing but a endslide footnote but common sense shows that it has legs
as a plot mechanic. Expecting to see those again and enjoy some continuation/resolution, or being dissapointed in their lack of inclusion, is not exhibiting a form of fan tunnelvision but more wandering around the direction the creators pointed you towards.

And I do like Gaider's communication on the boards with us. I like the fact that he's in a PR position when he posts and for the most part doesn't pull any punches and that rubs some people the wrong way because they
are used to being able to say whatever they want and watch the company man smile and take it to their faces. I also like the fact that he does seem to listen and will give you an honest answer without any smoke if he feels it's something he can talk about at the moment. In the end you have to watch relying on or rallying versus anything he says because he is going to use double-speak quite a lot until the product is signed, sealed, and in our hands.

EDIT: Swoo vs the Bioware auto-formatting continues. Urgh, maddening.

Wow, that's amazing! Posted Image

It really manages to capture the colder aspect of Morrigan (which makes it hot, if that makes sense). And the eyes are almost perfectly done, which is extremily hard to do with Morrigan methinks.

Excellent find! Posted Image

Hey it's KoP! Was looking to see if the new comic page was up yet and noticed...

and wondered where you ran off too.

Edit: Although now it seems we need to find a megapicture of Xanatos, TIM, and Morrigan.

Ha! Nice drawing you found lol

And yea Xanatos with Morrigan would be awesome. Even if Fox, his wife, is no where near as good as Morrigan.

Yeah, I love the face on that Morrigan picture- she looks sort of pissed off and hot but the eyes! Ooooh the eyes! So much of what makes Morrigan, Morrigan is in her eyes, I think.

I really like that color red on Morrigan too. Its quite striking.^_^

Very well said.

The fact of the matter is they could have ended any speculation by simply adding to the DA:O epilogue slide:  "...but The Warden never saw Morrigan again." or something similar in Awakening. But they don't, they offer hints and yet they close no doors and merely leave it a mystery.

I can only speak for myself, but I clearly see the case for continuance and would be disappointed if it doesn't occur. Would it affect my purchasing decision for future DA products? Quite possibly depending on the direction they take.

But that is why BW makes the $$$, to make decisions like this. They cannot set me up for a perceived continuance, and not deliver, and then expect it not to affect my future purchases. That's an Unrealistic Expectation on their part. I'm not a lemming nor a Kool-Aid drinking fanboi who will buy whatever they decide to throw out there.

Wow, cute Morri.

Nice to see you post here Ximena.

How are those pages coming along? We're waiting with baited breath for more Demons Within goodness.

@Ash Wind

My reply to your previous post wasn't supposed to be hostile or anything.

Maybe I should have added a smiley or 2 to make it clear, but I certainly wasn't trying to attack you or anything you said.

Glad to be here. Hmmm. I'm actually on the last pages of the initial storyboard. After that I get into inking. Should be smooth starting there. Got delayed with one of the pages and reinstalling DA on my newly formatted comp. Sorry for that. I should be able to post the new pages in a couple of hours.

Hey its Ximena! Nice to see you here!

Seems you joined us on a potentially momentous/ possibly disappointing day with E3 and EA's press conference just a mere 8 hours 55 minutes away. :o

FWIW, here is EA's E3 site which should have the live stream of the conference when its time: http://www.ea.com/1/e3

Of course just about every other gaming site should have live streams and live blogging of it too...

I think the EA press conference is only about an hour. Not sure on that however.

I just want some surprises at E3 this year- seems like everything gets leaked ahead of time now, what with Microsoft Natal, or rather Kinect, and the plethora of games that got announced and revealed the last couple weeks.

So the fact that BioWare has played things close to their chest, has me hoping they'll have Ray and Gregg materialize out of thin air and be like "BAM! Dragon Age 2 !"

I somehow worry that if DA2 is to be released in 2011, it will be weak in the quality department.
