What other shows are scheduled for this year? Maybe we'll get some news there.

That E3 presentation showed me that other than 2-3 flagship titles, they are pushing out some utter **** in their next game cycle.
'Hey fatty, what are you doing? Eating all the bullets?!'
For ****s sake, Bulletstorm...it's like you want us to make fun of you (and not buy you).

So the hope is dead, what have we learned today?
That DA2 probably isn't what was foreshadowed by the date in awakenings.

Ray is a sim and Gorim likes fried chicken...
Aaah yes! I'll have to work that into my unrealistic expectations for DA2!

The only other big one is Gamescom at the end of August I think. Seems sooo far away though now.

Still 8 months or so until that date hits, so plenty of time to do PR for whatever it is.
I expected very little from E3 from a Bioware front honestly, but one trailer was way less than what I thought I would get. Blizzard wouldn't get pushed under the rug like that.
Muy dissapointing.

Maybe. But what we should have learned is to never have hope for anything, ever.

Truer word have never been spoken... it seems this is a case of brilliant EA marketing again. Why bother teasing a release date with Awakening and not follow it up with SOMETHING at arguably the biggest stage you'll have all year for video games? Grrrr....
This was a prime Ovaltine moment in my book, BioWarEA. Almost as bad as the EPIC countdown.....meh.
I'll resurrect the hope train with at least hoping some gaming outlet can get any BioWare people in an interview to say something about DA.........

Yes, The Old Republic trailer was awesome and I really do want to play that game. On the other hand, I can't believe all Bioware had to roll out in E3 was one trailer.

Yeah, its a shame I don't care at all about MMOs. No interest at all. Nice trailer, but sadly nothing in the game will be like that.
I would have been ecstatic with just SOMETHING, hell even if they just name dropped Dragon Age. But nope- we got absolutely nothing. Great job Gamespot, giving me a glimmer of hope. Bah.
Disappointing. But alas, thats something Morrigan romancers are accustomed to!

It's highly possible it ISN'T Dragons Age 2 and that's why they are so mum on it, but instead another expansion for Origins, with DA2 hitting around Christmas of '11. Who knows?
All we know is it's going to be a game, and as it stands right now it has a release window.

Fair enough- but would an expack have a handheld version? Thats what gets me and makes me think its either DA2 or some sort of stand alone product.
Well, I for one will hope its not DA2 anymore but rather a glorious Dragon Age Kart Racing game. Now thats franchising !!

No, I think it's rather obviously Dragons Age 2 because of how they altered the Dragon to show both wings in the '2' symbol instead of Origins '1' symbol. I was more just trying to think out loud for reasons they wouldn't showcase it at E3. The problem is you teased about the title in late Feb/early March, so E3 being three months away made the perfect opportunity to shed a little light on the product.
Perhaps they had no say in it, it seemed like EA said '1 game per developer' and of course that means KOTOR is going to win out in the presentation. I don't fall into the 'EA is the Devil' camp, but if EA said pick one game, then that made it pretty simple for Bioware.
Some communication would be awesome though. Right now all we are getting is double-talk and 'lower your expectations' and 'don't form a game in your head'. It's highly frustrating, and word out of Blizzard is talking about a single player RPG in the works. I'm halfway hopeful it goes head to head with Bioware right now so EA has to actually market and fight for money. Like we were talking about with Madden and NFL2K, competition is how the players get the best products.

Anyway, 8 months 'till that date they hinted. That still has space to do some promotions even if they only have 6 months to market a product. That's already a good timeframe for an advertising campaign.

I've read about the whole,"Oh 2 wings on the dragon= Dragon Age 2!" But I'm just not convinced EA marketing is that clever. Probably is DA2, nevertheless, but not for that reason.
I'm no marketing wiz but I'm in total agreement with you Swoo. I'll indulge my frustration and play armchair video game CEO here: Why give a teeny tiny tease with Awakening and the mysterious date only to not give ANY clue about what it is for at least 4+ months? E3 just seemed the perfect time to at least announce the title of the game to get it officially on people's radars or confirm it officially exists to the world at large. Yet we get nothing- at least at the big press event- and meanwhile you're pushing games like Dead Space 2 which is coming out 1 week before 2/1/2011, Bulletstorm which is coming out the end of February, and The Old Republic which is coming out sometime later than March 31, 2011. Yet you supposedly have a Dragon Age sequel in the works for a February 1st release and you don't do anything with that?!
Perhaps they're too busy working on it to be bothered to do anything for E3, or perhaps its not ready yet. But to not even do a tiny teaser trailer with some voice over that reveals the logo and title or something? Maybe this is all foreshadowing a delay in the release? But that would be a double Epic fail for the marketing, as up to this point the only hint we have is from a release date, and then they'd change it?

Who knows- obviously EA has sunk boat loads of money into TOR and really for the future health of BioWare and EA it needs to do well. So of course then they'll try to build hype for that. But not a peep about anything else BioWare related? I mean most of the people watching E3 stuff are likely fairly "hardcore" gamers and know about BioWare and have likely played either ME or DA. I mean heck, if EA wanted to pimp out their downloadable stuff, they could have even mentioned the new ME2 DLC coming out tomorrow! But alas, just silence. *shrugs shoulders*

Agreed!
Its like Christmas and you're watching all the other kids open their presents and getting awesome toys then you go to open your box and nothing is in it. Disappointment abounds! I hate to be THAT guy tthat dredges up old quotes of BioWarians, but you've got this: http://www.eurogamer...an-live-q-and-a where Dr. Muzyka emphatically claims E3 2010 reveals:
Super Moderating Hero: Lovely. That's nearly all of
the questions! I should ask what else we can expect from BioWare in
2010? Reveals at E3?
Ray Muzyka: Yes!
Things can change, certainly, but its just disappointing is all. I mean, BioWare is fond to play all coy and like you saw with the stupid Bazarre, or the lack of Awakening patches, it seems that wishy-washiness in releasing info bites them in the ass when things don't come out according to plan. At least with ME, we know there wil be a ME3 to continue Shep but with DA we've got nothing to go off of as to what future games could be; just what we've gotten from Origins and Awakening. Yet speculate based on those and you're talked down as being "myopic" or crazy for making outlandish claims of desiring continuation based on what we've gotten so far.
But certainly some competition in the single player RPG arena from Blizzard would be very nice. We've got the Witcher 2 coming early next year too, so thats something. Competition usually helps foster better products for the consumer, like 2K and Madden, so hopefully Blizzard or CD Projekt can light a fire under BioWare to make DA2 kickass.
