So we got nothing. Ha, that's wonderful.

Well that's not fair they did take our hope behind the woodshed and put a .22 round in it's head.

And then will blame us for it saying we shouldn't have had the hope in the first place.

I'm no marketing wiz but I'm in total agreement with you Swoo. I'll indulge my frustration and play armchair video game CEO here: Why give a teeny tiny tease with Awakening and the mysterious date only to not give ANY clue about what it is for at least 4+ months? E3 just seemed the perfect time to at least announce the title of the game to get it officially on people's radars or confirm it officially exists to the world at large. Yet we get nothing- at least at the big press event- and meanwhile you're pushing games like Dead Space 2 which is coming out 1 week before 2/1/2011, Bulletstorm which is coming out the end of February, and The Old Republic which is coming out sometime later than March 31, 2011. Yet you supposedly have a Dragon Age sequel in the works for a February 1st release and you don't do anything with that?!

Well, I have a background in marketing and advertising and I'm saying it baffles me too. I do hope they plan to shed some light soon since usual campaigns run in 6-months or 3-months before product release.

On the bright side, if there is a teaser that would mean that the campaign is at least mapped up. And campaigns aren't made until product information for the brief is complete (unless they want their advertising deptartment groping in the dark for what points to sell). I think I'm saying there really is something.

Ahh yes, hope is just a four letter word in these parts of the BioWare Social Network.

I think we need to put a large "Abandon All Hope Ye Who Enter Here" disclaimer on this thread.

YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! David Gaider is writing an EPIC! He doesn't need to held down by continunity or properly closing his characters. You just DON'T GET IT, you stupid internet people with your dumb expectations make me want to vomit. Vomit all over the concept of player choice and involvement, just because Bioware said  our choices would matter doesn't mean they are going to matter. Good god the unrealistic expectations in these internets, so unrealistic no appreciation for the art. (End sarcasm rant)

The cruel irony to it all at the end of the day? The Old Republic trailer's name is "Hope." :pinched:

I just finished the game again with the DR ending and I have hope we'll see Morrigan again. Her ending slide says that what she plans is a mystery...for now. So I have hope. ^^

Which was a dissapointment for me. Malgus owned that Jedi idiot, but the badass soldier cheated! Posted Image

But on a more serious note, I thought the Decieved trailer was better. Partially because the Sith dominated.

The funny thing is. The events in Hope trailer (battle of Alderaan) happened before those of the Decieved trailer (Sack of Coruscant).
So technically, it's Hope ---> Decieved. Hmmm

The thing that just gets me is the whole card they slipped into Awakening. Had they not done that and similarly remained quiet about future Dragon Age stuff, I wouldn't have expected much from them at E3 as I'd probably think we wouldn't see another full DA game until well into 2011. But by throwing the 2/1/2011 date around, you're creating "hope" and expectations of hearing about just what that card means. I guess it just doesn't make any sense to me for them to wait months and months before shedding any light on what this 2/1/2011 is supposed to mean. E3 just seemed like the perfect time to give some info on what 2/1/2011 means to Dragon Age.

The thing that really baffles me though are all of the other games coming out in the same time frame or even later that are getting trailers, gameplay video and extra, yet nothing, not even confirmation of DA2. Makes me wonder if they're questioning the release date maybe....

I think they're enjoying torturing us. But yeah. The teaser card is the one to blame! They're questioning the date or maybe EA pushed them back. o:

Yeah, so we won't get some badass awesome super reveal trailer for DA2. I guess whats left now is to look out for any E3 interviews with BioWare folks like Ray or Greg. Or maybe they'll surprise everyone and have some sort of private press only showing? Doubtful, but who knows.

While looking at the Game Informer article that debunked Gamespot, you'll notice a comment by the Editor in Chief of Game Informer, Andy McNamara in reference to ME3 and DA2:

We should put these games on our cover or something

So probably be on the lookout there. And if you watch this episode of the Game Trailers show Bonus Round (at around the 42 minute mark), the same McNamara mentions how alot of the E3 stuff is going to focus on games coming out this year and other games scheduled to come out early next year will get their time to shine later on at something like Gamescom in August.

All I know is that if by August we still haven't heard anything about the next DA game, then I'll really question whats going on with it....

Do I have to come to your house and personally kill your hope myself, just give in to despair! All is lost, the next DA game will be a cell phone and iphone game, ported to PC and consoles with admittedly lackluster controls, it will have less dialogue and more bugs than Awakening. Also all your companions from Origins and your Warden die at the very beginning when a giant goat crushes them all to death, then our new hero Lance Badass kart races his way to guildmaster of the Grey Wardens.

Crushed by a giant goat? Well atleast it's more dramatic than getting lost at sea.

Well, I was thinking the Warden and all those dear to him/her would just get unceremoniously crushed by a really big rock....Oh wait thats been done already.

But my money is on either a Farmville style Dragon Age game to bring the more casual audience in without all that pesky RPG nonsense. Imagine it now: you get to be the Warden and settle down with Morrigan and have a nice house and white picket fence all the while tending your crops!  Or perhaps a fun, exhilirating Dragon Age Kart Racing game with those amazing, totally not dorky Kinetic motion controls! Fun for the whole family! Huzzah!

No, I think it's rather obviously Dragons Age 2 because of how they altered the Dragon to show both wings in the '2' symbol instead of Origins '1' symbol.

When I see that dragon, the question I?m asking myself is not if it's DA 2 but rather what the symbolism of that dragon is.

On the box of Origins, the dragon was supposed to be the Archdemon leading the Blight, The guy in the armor was our Warden, the battlefield with the tower was Ostagar and looming over all of that was Morrigan as an important character for Origins.

Awakening had the Warden fighting darkspawn and the children with the Architect showing in the background. Again very clear symbolism.

The rising dragon on that promo card makes me think we'll see another dragon opponent in DA 2 or whatever it is that's supposed to promote. With David Gaider saying DA 2 won't feature the darkspawn or another Blight, that leaves us with either a high dragon (not really a villain material) or an Old God...

EDIT:

I'm not 100% about the following, but didn't someone from EA say that the date on that card isn't accurate?

That would mean whatever Bioware is working on probably won't come out in February 2011.

Good catches about Game Informer Brock, I avoid Internet comment's like the plague. I made the mistake of reading a Youtube video's once and it took three days to even begin to wash the stupid away.

I just don't get The Witcher love here though. I went and picked up on the cheap recently and so far, so horrible. The combat is like kicking a field goal in Madden (ugh), the voice actors are like the first time I heard Sandal (before being told he was Lyrium addled), and the amnesia thing doesn't cut it a bit when they so heavy handedly 'hint' at what I'm sure the reveal will be deeper in the game.

Sigh. All I know is they better give me my Warden and Morrigan back after this.

I don't remember hearing anything about the card being inaccurate. If it has been reported someone fill me in on WTF!

Since the Dragon was 'just' a Blood Dragon it's hard for me to draw any conclusions at the moment from it other than 'Dragon Age....2!'. Heh. Sorry, that seems like a cop-out answer.

Can I see the link to the no-Blight/Darkspawn? It's not that I doubt you, I just want to see what he said. Since I was mainly going on what I had ingame to guess towards DA2, I put some stock in the 2 Old Gods remaining and Awakening hinting that another Blight had already begun before the old one had even truly ended.
