As far as I know, the taint would only carry over when the two parents are Grey Wardens. That's why it's so hard for two GW to conceive a child. The child would be tainted from the start.

Edit:
Maybe with one parent as a gray warden it'll work like the Architect's darkspawn joining ritual, and the old god would be immune to the taint in the future?

It must be important that a Gray Warden be the father because otherwise she could just pick someone up off the street couldn't she?

Yes. It's important. Morrigan needed the child to have the taint so "it would act like a beacon" when the archdemon is slain. The Ritual was to ensure that the taint was carried over, if I remember correctly.

Correct. I think - and this is hazy memory so I could be wrong here - but it's possible the Tainting can transfer over anyway with just one parent Tainted, one parent not, but having two makes it almost a certainty. I believe it's Loghain who talks about this if you marry Anora and he tries to explain why she keeps her distance from you.

Hah, be a Grey Warden. Travel the land, fight the Blight. Be loved by some hated by others, and hey! We give you a STD that turns you into a ravenous, mindless monster in thirty years! Sign right up!

Quick question: Why is the achievement for doing the DR called "A Dark Promise"? What is the "promise" aspect of the DR? The fact that Morrigan promises you'll survive? Her promise that she'll leave?

Or am I so deprived of any new and exciting Dragon Age information that I'm bothering to read anything into the names of the achievements?:o

I'm pretty sure the promise aspect is that Morrigan claims it'll save your life

Just be content in the knowledge that we know for sure we are getting more Morrigan, something the Alistair, Zevran, Leliana, ect.. fan's don't. See, sunny side to all this silent treatment business!

The Promise to me means that she will 'spare' your life if you are willing to spare Urthemiel's.

Totally Morrigan unrelated, but we seem to have several in here who are very competent at making sense of the Toolset as pertaining to dialogue strings for the game. Jowan is supposed to have a much more intricate and detailed conversation with the PC when you meet him in Redcliffe if you come from the Mage Origin, any clue why that's not firing correctly?

Actually, David Gaider said the child between a Grey Warden and untainted partner wouldn't carry the taint.
Alistair is an excellent example in this case, if he truly the son of Fiona and Maric. He only became tainted after the joining.

That's why Morrigan had to do the ritual in order to make sure some small amount of taint transfered from the Warden into the child.
Had she simply slept with him, she would have been pregnant with a normal untainted child and the Warden would have died.
Still, once the Archdemon's soul passes into the child the taint will be gone and the Archdemon destroyed, leaving behind an untainted child with the soul of an Old God.
Doesn't really make complete sense but this is a fantasy setting...

Two Grey Wardens having children is next to impossible, so no point in discussing it. Same is true for Grey Warden transferring the taint to other in any way. Cannot happen, and even if it could people would never allow Grey Warden to exist.

I haven't checked that out in the toolset, but I do know that if you let Jowan go, you're supposed to be able to get a quest out on the road where you have to help him defend a caravan or something from darkspawn. Yet this is bugged- I think it might show up in your journal, but it'll never appear on the map.

I always thought if you let him go you get a quest from the Chanter's board to hunt him down?

Finally decided to make a proper Dalish archer, but can't seem to decide who to romance.

What do you guys/gals think?

Would it make more sense for a male Dalish to romance Morrigan or Leliana? I'm leaning towards Morrigan since she and my elf have a lot in common when it comes to the Chantry, magic and human society. Leliana, being an archer herself, would make a nice match for him as well.

Advice needed and appreciated.

I think a Dalish would have to be an awfully forgiving Dalish in order to romance Leliana. There's the inherent dislike of humans, which can be overcome obviously, but her racist comments are pretty bad for a Dalish.

Well it depends both have their good and bad points-
Dalish have a huge amount of loyalty to clan and people while Morrigan has loyalty to herself
Leliana's comments can really be a turn off, but she apologizes so you can get over that.

I can see a human/chantry hating Dalish going with Morrigan, while a more accepting Dalish could go with Leliana. Although Morrigan does pull ahead since she has a great deal of respect for the Dalish and their practices.

I think any prejudice can be overcome- I'm a romantic that way I guess.  But to me, Morrigan seems the most natural fit with a Dalish PC out of any of the LI's.  The background is similar.  The Stolen Throne indicates that Flemeth even had a certain understanding with the Dalish, albeit not a very friendly one.  She even will tell you that she feels more of a kinship with your people than with humans... video here.

If you look very closely in the Dalish origin I think all of them are blond, or dark haired so Leliana could be the first red head you have ever seen. Points there I guess.

I think you do get the quest from the Chanter's board, but its bugged so that the quest itself never shows up on the map or something of that sort.

Thanks for the clarifications, Master Shiori. Your posts all throughout the thread have been extremely helpful

As for who to romance, I would personally go with Morrigan just because I dislike Leliana

Isint Anora freaked out by a MHN for his having the taint? Or is she just freaked out by sex in general?

I think it's more of a case of her being freaked out by the prospect of marriage to a man who is very much like her father.

If she rules alone, epilogue will tell you she had many suitors but refused them all because they never measured up to Loghain.

You Warden not only united the country against the Blight and slew the Archdemon, but also proved himself to be more formidable than her father.

This time she isn't getting another Cailan, but a man who can be her equal in all things and that freaks her out a bit.
By the time Awakening starts she'll get over it and ever develop feelings for the Warden.

Oh yeah, I've done that with the console. It's an ok resolution because he finally seems to have a backbone and is doing the right thing and not screwing up at it.

I just would like to see the Redcliffe conversation because Jowan actually is a bit of an ass towards you and (rightfully) blames you for some of his problems, and sheds a bit more light on what an maleficar on the run is really like.
