Hehe, maybe they're related, Soignee.
I wonder if I can pester the Morrigan crowd about her romance while playing. I hope so. I've never romanced either woman (and I won't romance Leliana - ever. Sorry. Nothing personal.), so I'm in pretty unknown territory. Morrigan seems like a complex and interesting woman. She called my dalish "little man". I almost fell out of my chair laughing.

Certainly complex, but mostly interesting...HA.  That reminds me of her best line (imo) in the game.  In banter between her and Zevran, he is fawning all over her and says something along the lines of: "Why isn't it we haven't made love yet my dear?"  Morrigan responded: "I'd rather stab you in the face, elf!"

Anyway, my real fear (far from our Wardens not returning in the future) is that these stories are definitely going to continue and the glitches are going to kill our individual stories.

Agreed, we ought to.  I'm about half-sick of seeing the Zevran and Tali threads at the friggin' top all the time.  Don't those people have jobs?  Image IPB  Obsess much? The whole Morrigan romance/debacle makes both of those pale in comparison (although I haven't yet gotten to ME2 to romance TaliImage IPB).  [/quote]

lol, Barbarossa, considering your strong feelings regarding the Morrigan romance ending, you should be very careful with Morinth in ME2.

Ok TE give it up.  Tell me about Morinth in ME2 so I don't trip that mine.  Spoliers are OK..

You know, I was going to read the complete walk thru ME2 to avoid the pitfalls I don't want my Shepherd to fall into.  It spoils the story a bit sure, but hey, you keep the writers from wrecking your story at least.

Yeah, you may not even encounter it unless you have particularly high renegade/paragon points by that time, and I really don't want to spoil it for you. Now that I think about it, perhaps Mr Gaider was seconded onto the ME2 team for the day when they thought that one up :)

Considering how much time has passed since DA:O was released, I have doubts about Bioware ever fixing the ring epilogue bug.

Hopefully the workaround solution with the mirror will solve this problem...

Umm guys... you missed my point.

By "romance support" thread I didn't mean a complain thread like this one.

What I had in mind is a new thread with a well written OP where we could discuss the romance in a civilized manner. I tried to use the Tali thread as an example but it failed... lol

I would be up for that.  Just do it.  The Zevran thread didn't start out intentionally to be an ongoing q&a/squee/chat thread, it was someone asking why people like his character and kept going from there.

I'll play along.  I'm playing the Morrigan romance for the first time and enjoying it quite a bit.  I had always friended her on my female PCs but this is the first male PC I've played.

I have a question:  Morrigan is at 100 Love and refusing tent time.  I thought maybe after they had their "clearing the air talk" (where she begs you to release her), she'd go back to being more normal.  But she still gets pissed when HNM asks her to the tent.  Is he going to be shut off until the DR?  Poor guy. Image IPB

Here's my Morri character.  I think they look good together.  There is not enough dark-haired hotness in the game.  They're always getting killed off.

That's harsh.  He's still got the Deep Roads, and a cold tent to look forward to when he gets back after all that.  Image IPB  So... what is her deal?  Is it emotional conflict or does it have something to do with the ritual?  Don't spoiler me too much.

I think it's an emotinal comflict on Morrigan's part.

I'm not sure how far into the game you got so I'll drop the warning:

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

Up until you finish her personal quest and give her Flemeth's real grimoire Morrigan considers her relationship with you to be a simple "misadventure" without any deep feelings.

You saving her from Flemeth without expecting a reward (which nobody has ever done for her) finally makes her realize that she truly loves someone for the first time in her life,

This realization terrifies her because no matter what happens she is destined to lose you. Either by you refusing the ritual and dying or accepting and having her leave.

Thus she will try pushing you away, first by refusing to sleep with you and later (if you question her about it) by saying she isn't worth your attention.

If you refuse to accept her arguments and don't break the romance you will procced to the dark ritual and, if you accept her offer, will be treated to a heartbreaking farewell scene where Morrigan opens her heart to you.

Amen to that. More dark haired women please.... Blondes are overrated.

On a side note... I have a HN Rogue that looks identical to the character you posted... lol

Though I don't quite remember what kind of playthrough that was. :pinched:

PS: If you get her into the love zone she gets all serious. No more funny flirting responses. :(

Heh, well you just have to make up for it with the PC.  A lot of mine are red haired but I do have a dark-haired elven lass.  Inspired by Erlina from the game and Fiona from The Calling.  (Edit:  She was Morrigan's sister in arms- they were the twin sisters of doom and destruction.)

LOL  Great minds character-create alike!  My husband accused me of making a Nathaniel Howe look-alike, but my PC was created long before that since I first started him out S&S, then got tired of the tedium and frustration so I went back and re-started him as a rogue.

PS: If you get her into the love zone she gets all serious. No more funny flirting responses. :(

Yes, and she responds with the purring "your desire?" whereas I think her giggle was so charming.  Alistair's romance gets this way, too- there's sort of a depressing lull in the middle where he's all business-like until the relationship gets resolved after the Landsmeet, one way or another.

Here's another Morrigan shot I like.  I took this when some were arguing on a different thread that her eye color changes from green to gold after the DR.  What this conspiracy theory was meant to represent, I don't know.  But you can clearly see that she has golden eyes here, too, at Flemeth's hut.  Her eyes will look gold or green depending on lighting.  Amazing textures in this game, really.

"I am evil and I need to be punished" Probably my favorite quote ever.

But the "your desire" opening melts you. Damn you Claudia and your sexy voice.

Anyway, here's one of my chars.

Claudia Black did a great job.  Despite being quite a bit older than the character concept (34? whereas Morrigan is... 18?  19?) she still is able to convey Morri's youth and innocence.  I think that's why the giggle got me- it was so unexpected.

Yeah everyone thinks Morrigan is supposed to be young like late teens early 20s but Gaider mentioned back in the old forums that Morrigan is basically supposed to be late twenties to around 30 years old.

Well, she gives you what amounts to a wedding ring, so in all honesty I wasn't surprised when my Warden stopped getting his nookie after that.

Mostly, though, it's just her being terrified out at the thought of truly feeling things for the Warden, especially since she knows what will eventually have to come to pass, so she attempts to cut it off and retreat back into her ice queen exterior. As long as you're patient and don't go seeking other opporunities with crazy or assassin, it eventually shatters for good at the gates of Denerim.

EDIT: On the age thing, I've always assumed Morrigan was in her mid-twenties, roughly equal to the PC, with Alistair a couple years younger than them both.

Well, I think (just my own speculation) that the PC is probably supposed to be early twenties or so in just about all of the origins. Theres nothing wrong with that sort of an age difference- if anything IMO, part of what makes Morrigan so interesting is that she is late twenties or so, yet hasn't really lived her life out and about in the world so all she has known is Flemeth's view of the world, so she sort of acts like a teenager due to a lack of experience. To me, what makes her romance interesting is that the PC can sort of give Morrigan some different views of the world  during their time together.

Kind of like what Flemeth says, it will be interesting to see what Morrigan does with her freedom- will she stick with what Flemeth taught her or will she adopt a different worldview? And how might her possible relationship with the Warden (whether just as friends or romantically involved) affect her mysterious plans with the possible Old God Baby?

Why the hell is everyone calling the Mother the broodmother? It's confusing as hell and I didn't get what everyone was talking about at first. Just write the Mother, it's shorter anyways everybody wins. And the idea that Morrigan WAS the Mother is ridiculous and it never once popped into my head until I stormed onto the forums. But about the actual topic. I have to say that the more I read about these little hiccups and glitches, especially story-related ones, the more faith I lose in Bioware. I mean sure they gave me my favorite game series of all time (KOTOR, yes I know they didn't make the second one which I actually like more than the first, but I still credit it as Bioware's series) and Jade Empire but little screw-ups like this really shouldn't happen. It can't be easy making a game of this scale in both landscape and story and then hope to clean up every little glitch they encounter, however when your fanbase gets so passionate about the games you make (which is a sign your doing something right) they get more and more demanding for their epic story to be picture perfect. And about the rumor that you play as a new warden in DA2, I swear if that happens, I will get in my car, drive to Edmonton (I live in Ontario, Canada so the drive is like..... 6 hours?), walk into Bioware and procede to punching everyone I see. Or at least park in front of their building, take out my megaphone, yell you screwed us over and drive away like a panzy before the cops get me. I don't want just some explanation to what happened with Morrigan, it had better unfold before my eyes or imahavetochokea****. You played as your guy from BG2 (or so I'm told although you didn't have the luxury of importing the character from the first game.... or am I wrong?) you played as Shepeard from ME1 and ME2, I don't see why it shouldn't be the same here. As for the glitch itself I can only offer my condolences seeing as romancing Morrigan is a **** especially if you're playing through as a good person, trust me I'd know. She's the best party member in Origins IMO and I think that she deserves the proper treatment storywise, even if it's just a block of text. I'll report my findings on the epilouge once I finish the expansion as my mage who romanced her to the max but said no to the ritual.

FYI: I have only love for Bioware and they don't have to file for a restraining order lol. And you have no idea how good it feels to rant on these forums and let all of your DA and ME related thoughts get on the internet. Good stuff.

I agree wholeheartedly- Bioware and the devs have gone on the record as saying that Morrigan is very important to Origins and that her story isn't over yet.  For me, the whole crux of the matter comes down to if Morrigan shows up in any future DA game, it better be my Warden from DAO thats interacting with her, not some other New Hero of Thedas. I'm fine with starting a new character in a new corner of the DA universe eventually, but especially after the kick in the balls that is the Morrigan romance ending in Origins, just let the Warden track Morrigan down, please?

I know some people are just hoping for an expansion pack to wrap things up with the Warden, but I really hope the Warden and Morrigan get the proper conclusion in a full fledged sequel. I didn't hate Awakening or anything, but if the quality and polish level of Awakening is what we can expect for future DA expansions, then count me out.  Awakening wasn't bad but it is just severaly lacking when compared to Origins and I would hate to see Morrigan's story get crammed into a rush job of an expansion pack just so that DA2 can focus on some New Epic Hero of Thedas. If Bioware can pull out a Throne of Bhaal style expansion pack for the Warden and Morrigan, then cool, but otherwise I really hope that plot thread gets saved for DA2...

As for BG2, yeah you could import your PC into BG2 from BG1 but it didn't really track any choices or anything like ME does- they kind of just made a canon of sorts for what you did in BG1. But the transfer from BG2 to Throne of Bhaal kept your romance going and everything.

That I would like to know too, Addai. I'm so amazed at how different Morrigan behaves when she's 'interested' in someone. Wow. I should have done this earlier, but I was kind of spooked off the fem/maleWarden romance because of..., well, the other choice. I hope I didn't insult anyone here, but the bard crept my femWardens out with her ninja-love.

Here's my dalish, when he sees Morrigan for the first time. I knew exactly where this would head to

Image IPB

I took one look at his eyes and thought "Yep. I know what's going to happen here. She's already got his attention. Big Time!"

**********There might be spoilers**********************

My absolute favorite Morrigan-banter quote is to Wynne: "I owe you no explanation. There is no writing on my forehead that say: "Please, guide me!"

Bravo Morrigan. Atta girl.

Favorite blurb: ""How very fitting that they would build a prison for mages in the middle of a lake and make it look like a giant phallus."
