I can't think of a better thread to post unsubstantiated rumours but according to the BioWare twitter "2morrow" is supposed to be a great day for Bioware fans in addition Gamespot has prepared a release page for Dragon Age 2 a PC game to be released Feb 01, 2011 in the US.

http://au.gamespot.c...=result;title;0

http://twitter.com/b...tus/17978118519

Are they for real?

I once thought that gamespot was credible.  I don't trust them anymore...

As for the tweeter thing... I don't know. Seems like another bazzar event. Speaking of the bazzar, I still can't believe they were hyping it for a whole week.

They know how to set you up for disappointment, don't they?

I'm willing to believe somebody in Bioware's marketing department has a master's degree in setting people up for disappointment.

Can't say they don't make good hype that leads to a great game being annouced or some other interesting project, but they also knw how to deliver an epic faceplam moment.

Indeed Brock, I'm hesitant to formally get on this hope train of yours but this might be the real deal. I mean an announcement via twitter and Gameinformer releasing their next cover tomorrow as well it seems like it might be actually happening this time.

The stars are aligning! All our hopes come down to tomorrow! But yeah, it seems pretty reasonable to guess its at minimum something DA related and smart money is that its DA2. If it isn't, c'est la vie and all that.

But woah boy, if we get a hint of Morrigan or the Warden tomorrow, picture me like Alistair in this dialogue:

  • Morrigan: And if you had not been recruited? What would have  happened, instead?
  • Alistair: I would have turned into a drooling lunatic, slaughtered the grand cleric and run through the streets of Denerim in  my small clothes, I guess.
  • Morrigan: Your self-awareness does you credit.
  • Alistair: I thought you'd like that
And to top it off I'll have an epic Kermit flail!

Oh and further hinting going on at Game Informer editor in chief's twitter- http://twitter.com/gi_andymc

"Cover reveal in the morning. I can't tell you but
I'm pretty sure you can guess. Art is amazing in my opinion."

I'l dance a damn happy jig if its DA2!:o

I wonder what a happy jpeg looks like . . .

As for the sequel it's reasonable to assume that they have been working on it before Orgins was done, a small pre-production team most likely. Also it's been pointed out that Origins was done for almost a year before they released it, plenty of time to work on an engine upgrade sequel and they've never been shy about calling Dragon Age a franchise and mentioning a sequel with flashier graphics.

I'm puzzled as to how continuity will be handled, does the inclusion of The Warden into Awakening (something which some have pointed out was likely not originally intended) represent a shift in how they want to tell the story? I just hope they don't screw over The Warden by killing him/her off but bringing back characters like Morrigan, Leliana and Zevran as full party members who say nothing about your former PC. That to me would be the apocalypse scenario, it would make ME2's handeling of old squadmates and LI's look bloody brillant by comparison. But here I go again too many questions and worries and no real answers to anything.

If this turns into a repeat of E3 2010 then we'll probably all be really upset. I just hope this disappointment contains less Gorim shouting about fried chicken. :(

Yeah, since Origins was no doubt mostly done back in early 2009, they've likely been working on DA2 at least in part since then. Considering how awesome true sequels to BioWare games have been thus far (BG2 and ME2), I'm damn excited to see how DA2 turns out.

Yeah, I really want to know how they're going to handle continuity. Its definitely one of the key areas I'm thinking about in regards to whether or not I'll rush out and preorder DA2 or not.

Basically I've got 3 big questions regarding DA2:

1.) Does the Warden return as the PC?
2.) Do the LI's (including Morrigan) return in a meaningful way and allow the Origins romances to continue?
3.) How is continuity going to be handled ( DR choices, king/queen choices...)?

And then little things like the dialogue system, the graphics, that sort of thing I'll be very curious about....

Hell, even Morrigan is psyched up for DA2!

Hehehehe.... yeah, I'm primed for disappointment and absolutely ready for the baffling sensation of being underwhelmed and left scratching my head going "Huh?"

But I'm hoping this is it and I really think it is...:)

Well I mean on the plus side I never heard Gorim talk about fried chicken in Dragon Age, but now I have thanks to Bulletstorm!

As much as I try to remain a person devoid of any joy and hope I can't help but feel that faint tingle of the hope train, this all just seems like too much *hint* *hint* *wink* *wink* say no more, to just be something stupid and lame.

Edit: Hey Brock apparently you're the authority on all things DA2 in the Alistair thread, they're reposting the things you've been saying and squeeing over them. You're like a published scholar on all things Dragon Age 2. :D

Yeah, thing is all that will be revealed tomorrow on the Game Informer side of things is likely a very pretty piece of concept art- but hell, I'll take it! If their coverage of DA2 for their August issue is anything like they had for Infamous 2 this past month, we should be in for a treat....*SQUEEEE* (and yes, I, Brockololly, a 20 something male grad student just fangirl squee'd)

I'm not expecting much details. Just hearing it Dragon Age:_____ would be awesome and something to ponder. I wonder what the name is going to be? I'm expecting some forshadowing and maybes from DG and possibly knowing where the story is going to take place, but any concrete stuff I doubt it anything is better than nothing though.

See, I knew I had to just put DA away and they'd quit being so damn quiet and finally spill the beans.

Tomorrow should be very interesting. We already know Morrigan will be back but I want to know to what extent, will the Warden be back, where is the main setting, how far is the time-frame being pushed forward, and then they can go into some technical details.

And God, please, don't remind me of that stupid FPS. 'Hey fatty, eat this!' Christ. It still makes me angry that at least twenty people were directly responsible and paid for that line.

IMA GETTIN ON THE HOPE TRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, this is DA2, I can feel it. And if it isn't? I'm still reeling over the fact that Blood Gulch is being remade for Halo:Reach so I'll live. Continuity damnit, we want continuity! Who wants to join my Exalted March to Bioware if this is another Bazaar? It's about a few weeks away from my house on foot but I swear I'll come back from the dead if I have to!!!!

How long did they sit on Dragon Age Origins while they were working on the console ports?

They didn't really. They farmed out the console's to another party while they finished the game, so Origins was ready to ship (according to EA) a few months before the console team was good to go.

I knew they outsourced the production of the ports (since they apparently sucked) but I thought the story was they were done months before the actual release date so they took some left over money and worked on the free Shale DLC. But full scale production of the game had ceased before that because of EA's insistance on a simutaneous release of PC and console ports.

As nice as this news is, I won't hold my breath until we get an official confirmation from Bioware.

E3 and the false floor plans crushed my hope last time and I'm not eager to repeat that experience.

That said I'm praying we see some hint of Morri coming back...

And they waited just right after E3 so they can announce it through tweeter? Whatever...

I'm just trying not to get my hopes up until I see the official announcement.... :P

It's been reported by too many sites with too much 'leaked' information floating about.  If it's misdirection then they sold it amazingly well, but it looks to be solid. Question is how much do they give out tomorrow?

A trailer and perhaps a QA sheet?

Or they can just say "we are releasing DA2 in 2011 kthxbai" and not reveal anything else

Most likely we'll see some art piece in Gameinformer and an official announcement that DA2 is in the works.

If we're lucky the art might feature Morri.
