Right, now the amount of info available about DA2 could fit into a timble (as Anders is fond of sayng).
Once we know for sure where we stand and who is or isn't in the game, we'll be able to express our frustration and disappointment based on what is actually there and not what we think may be.

Honestly, if we're not playing as the Warden then I don't give a **** what happens to Morrigan.
Chances are, you are going to be playing that new hero guy who meets a new mysterious girl and 60 hours into the game she's gonna present you a new dark ritual and give you a new kick in the balls.
And 8 months later they're gonna give us DA3 with all the steps repeated...
That's a bit extreme, don't you think?
I loved my Warden from Origins, but I would never think of asking to see him return over seeing Morrigan again.
As far as playing as the OGB or having the OGB as a companion, we can hope that it would reveal the details of what happened to Morrigan and possibly the Warden himself.
Right now, the only thing that would really tick me off royaly is if Morri doesn't make an appearance in DA2.
Blademaster is right on the money. I read the page and instead of getting psyched just shrugged my shoulders and went back to checking out what the news is on the Blizzard RPG. Not mad, not excited, total lack of care now. They even managed to douche up the reveal and throw in a 'fight like a Spartan' bit. Christ. EA-Bioware, drool over 300 or go home.
Whatever. I wont lie, I'll read the 10 page dealio about DA2 as soon as it hits and keep an eye out on information, but I am at the point I really don't care atm. We'll see if more info changes that.

Any more thoughts on the mage?
It has to be Morrigan. Same eyes, same lip coloring, and being old fits in with the 'we will advance the story by about three decades and rehash the Bhaalspawn Saga and hope nobody notices' that we all tried to talk ourselves out of.

That mage is all I'm thinking about.
My thoughts so far:
Judging from her looks and style of dress she could be Morrigan herself. However, since we have no idea when DA2 is taking place in relations to Origins, she could just as easily be Morrigan's daughter in her late years.
The dragon horns and clawlike hands seem to suggest she is either Morrigan who has been changed in some way by power from OGB or she's the OGB itself.
Bloody hell!!
I just noticed the color of her eyes...
It's the same as Morigan's!!
That confirms it. Morrigan is back!!

Mage concept art:

Hmmm.
@MKDAWUSS
Haha. You could probably say that I was worried about being biased regarding my Warden and seeing his likeness to the default main character art.
A certain allusion suddenly came to mind regarding the art of Gameinformer's cover compared with DAO packaging art.
Warden-Morri on the cover
New Hero- Old Morri/OGB on gameinformer cover

I could say that now we get to fill in the blanks on our Warden's endings, but that would probably to apply to every ending BUT the Morrigan one...
Well that's not so bad for me, I mean a Leliana romance got a fairly decent ending both in Origins and Awakening. Since Corrine Kempa said that BioWare didn't need her anymore, I'd assume she won't show up in any capacity in this sequel and while not an ideal way to end it it's better than the worst way to end it. I suppose in the end the 3 other romance options are better ended by letting the fans imagine the ending themselves. Though hell of alot of good that does Morrigan fans since you get a crap ending both times and any positive resolution really depends on The Warden.

Ah yes BioWare sponsored character assassination, I went with Liara in ME1 needless to say I am familar with such a concept.

Yup spiritual successor as in pretty much the same damn story plus or minus a few new words, so the hope train is dead again isn't it?

Man, I cannot tell you how much this blows....hard.
If this turns into another one shot NWN heap, I'm through BioWare. Build up all that emotional investment in Origins and just say F it for the sequel. Just like Baldur's Gate, right? I'll give it a chance sure, but my hype levels just took a nosedive. Do we really need another dark and gritty brown and gray colored game? Christ almighty...
Well, it's a bit early to tell if this is going to be a "dark and gritty brown and gray colored game" - I would think that it has it's balance of both. If it is going to be a dark game, hopefully there's be some spots of absolute beauty and whatnot.
I feel you on that one - and from what I'm getting from this announcement is that the Warden never found her, and was never reunited with his lover again. The crusher on that would be if there's no mention of it at all in DA2 (or even the option of having it mentioned). And I'll echo Bladesmaster's sentiment- don't care nearly that much about Morrigan if its not with the Warden. If I wanted to have a game spanning ages, I'll read a damn history book.
*Epic Sigh*
It just looks like its all a big Fable crapola- start from humble beginnings become a king! Woo- freaking-hoo.
Sounds like a reverse of the noble origins TBH.
And of course they'll toss an EVIL morrigan in there because its all about power this time around. WTF man, W T F....
Seriously BioWare..... ugh...This looks like the Marilyn Manson version of Dragon Age... Dragon Age 2: EXTREME! Be sure to throw some heavy metal in the trailer for Gamescom cause thats clearly what we all want....
Are we sure she's evil? I could see several options in terms of her character.
One thing we don't know is how carrying the OGB affected Morrigan. And I think that's one of the big parts that now has us all really concerned now.

Yup the ol' "be a badass Spartan! " line kills this for me. Did BioWare not get the memo that people didn't like the EXTREME Marilyn Manson rubbish? It looks like the marketing folks got there hands all over this and want "intense visceral combat"= button mashing.
I'm pissed right now- at least right now it seems like people bought DA for the epic blood splatter. Ugh Ugh Ugh...words just fail me right now how amazingly LAME this looks.
I'll gather the pitchforks and torches- prepare for that EXALTED MARCH:devil:

Well, I can't say anything about how the game looks because they haven't given us anything but boxart really yet. My gripe currently is that they (at the time of this writing) dropped the ball in my eyes with how they are putting the game forward. This over-reliance on the 300 SPARTA BLOOOOOD just screams 15 year old suburban twitch-kid marketing. It's not enough to make me throw up my arms and say I'll never buy it, but that doesn't mean I have to enjoy being marketed too as 'one of those'.
The line about moving forward through a decades amount of time is troubling. I don't like timejumps, and when you figure that you will have to move forward 2 years per major encounter, or have one massive jump in the timeline, it just makes me wince. No clue how it's going to work out, it's just something I normally do not dig. I think it might be the stink of Fable and the promises of the roll of years and how it played out tarring the entire idea with P.M.'s crappy Brush of Lies.
Destitute Champion to Revered Leader. OK, I take back about the Bhaalspawn ripoff. Spartacus ripoff. Got it.
Dragon Wings show 16 companion silhouetes, makes sense I think Bioware has always at least doubled the companion count in sequels. I know ME2 did a pretty hefty jump. If they showed anything with past product, they can make badass companions so I guess that's my plus to avoid total party-pooper mode.
W/e. Bring on actual news other than a 100 word teaser.

Well, we don't know much about story and character development, so there might still be hope for another epic story and magnificient character development. There might be a bit more emphasis on strategy and tactics and whatnot.
Also, keep in mind that if the PC and male cover figure is the OGB, he has one heck of a powerful pedigree. You have the Grey Warden who more or less singlehandedly stopped the Blight; Urthemiel, an Old God; and Morrigan, who places a strong emphasis on power and survival, presumably raising the OGB with such values.
Hopefully there'll be another quality romance, but I'm not holding my breath on it with the direction this is apparently headed in.

I'm not mad, I'm just laughing. It's like they took a list of everything we wanted and didn't want, and tossed the 'wants' and just included the stuff we hoped wouldn't make it. I was open to - although not wanting- a new character if I had a chance to maybe be a Tevinter Magister or Qunari, but I get to be Hawkicus...just like everyone else.

If we are to be the OGB, your mother's a human, and IIRC human is the dominant trait, so all human parents produce human children.

the OGB HAS to be a Human. Yep.
You don't get to name him/her, someone else does. Yep.
He's a survivor of the blight, lol clearly a play on words. Yep he survived the blight all right! Or his soul did...
which leads into
If he's from Ferelden, why is he rocking such bizarre weapons and armor as his standard fare?
Yep. OGB.

Your missing the point man. The point is, everything that was great about Origins such as the character creator, races and everything else is being thrown out the window and the only choice you get is your class. Sure, Hawke is a general enough name that you can change the gender and facial features of the character, but I bet you its all going to be voiced, and pretty much the only mention or similarities to Origins is going to be an old Morrigan and the name of the game. Their both called Dragon Age, that's about it.MKDAWUSS wrote...

I can't believe this. They ditched the Warden just so that they could have some predetermined character and you can bet your ass they're gonna use that as an excuse to use the ME dialouge system. Great Dragon Age 2: It's Mass Effect now with swords and every casual gamer on earth is gonna love it.
I think you meant Console gamer not casual. That's the root of the issue, not to be an elitist or anything.
Yeah it seems they're going to Massively Effect the Dragon Age series since apparently that's the future of RPGs. I don't want to come across as some prepetually complaining moron but I like Mass Effect stuff in Mass Effect and I like Dragon Age because it's not like Mass Effect at all. But when I hear people actually say things like "The Origins companions were crap the ME2 characters were better," and they actually use the words character development and complexity to describe why Thane is better than Morrigan I'm just shocked it's like talking to a group of people who think Justin Beiber is better than The Clash. How do you talk to a person with literally no taste and no perspective?

And the concept art person looks to be shapeshifting into a dragon....
You know, I'd be all for this game if they just gave the Warden some mother flucking closure. My hopes now lie with a proper ex-pack it seems....

We're not going to get squat and if we do we'll wish we didn't. I can see it now a DLC involving a recycled deep roads assets from Origins where you mindlessly hack darkspawn to death with no dialogue until your Warden dies alone in a cutscene. No mention of why you're there, no mention of why your LI isn't and no effort.
