I don't think it's that OTT for DA. Then again, it depends on how its implemented IG.

I had her in Wade's Superior Dragonbone Plate Armor, so her in armor is not much of a stretch. Don't think it's Morrigan though.

TBH I don't get the impression that she's a mage.  It looks like a banner she's holding, not a staff.

Judging from the smirk on her face, she must be the Gaider-girl.

You heard it from blademaster first.

Well, we don't know who all the candidates are yet.

BTW, is that a good thing for us?

Is that mage a darkspawn, too? He has that stark white skin. The dwarf guy and human girl don't have that white skin.

Could be- sort of has the very scrappy angular armor look too.

But Morrigan is all about sex appeal. Would she willingly cover up in a bunch of armor? Naaah.

A chainsaw staff is very Space Marine like. Which doesn't suit DA at all to say the least.

I didn't get that impression, either. She's holding a banner-thing, but not necessarily a staff.

Yes it does look kind of weird.

But other than the staff, I like the looks of that mage and hope that mages wil havel outfits like this.

Actually, I have to admit that staff/chainsaw looking thing and the damage snippet, is slightly impressive.

My concern is whether they look as good in the actual game. Origins had some awesome concept art too, but  the in game look wasn't as good. The whle angular armor is cool, but I just hope it doesn't come off as looking just like a couple polygons blocked together in the game.

Yeah my concern as well, it's interesting and Dragon Age has an actual style now. However to make those armour meshes work in game without looking like crap would require both High resolution textures and high poly models in addition to plenty of anti-aliasing. Obviously that cannot be done on a console due to the acute lack of memory, so I wonder what kind of comprimise they're going to come up with and who's going to get the short end.

Comparing the concept art with this:

You can kind of get an idea of how that stuff may look in game...hard to tell in the tiny screens, but the angular darkspawn armor doesn't look nearly as cool as it does in the concept art.... time will tell however.

Oh and if you go to play.com and the DA2 preorder page they took those 2 screens down- WHOOPS! B)

I don't know, the really angular look on the darkspawn armor doesn't bother me. Especially if they're mostly forging it themselves.

Definitely some Disciple-like DS mixed in there. Perhaps Awakening might not have been a seemingly dead-end EXPAC after all?

I do wonder who that dark haired woman who seems to be a mage is... She does not look like the original Morrigan concept art at all, but i still do wonder.

Am I the only one who gets the Knights of the Shield vibe from that picture?

And that's not Morrigan, since a mage would need to be an arcane warrior to wear such massive armor.

The only thing that troubles me is the way darkspawn look in that art. They seemed to be more detailed in Origins and Awakening. Here they look pretty rough and spiky. Same for their weapons. They were smoother in previous game.
I hope this is just a rough model. Otherwise there would appear to be a sad lack of details Origins art had.

That first spell reminds me of Dragon's Breath spell from WoW. Second one is like Blastwave.

Might be good, but we won't know until we get some ingame footage.

Knights of the Shield come from Forgotten Realms setting.

They're a group that seeks to put it's members in a position of power throughpout the land by using politics, trade, blackmail, sabotage, assassination and similar means to achieve their goals.

My feeling is that those 2 might belong to some kind of similar organization.

Oh OK. Now that I thought about it a bit more, the logo kinda reminds me a bit of Star Wars's Black Sun:

Trust me, As soon as I'm done with my first playthrough of DA2 I'll let you know which female LI was written by Gaider...

So far I have an uncanny ability to fall hard for every woman that's written by him and I doubt DA2 will be an exception.

A bunch of stupid crap because he's a dumb console owner.

Dear Moron,

Lick me.

Sincerely My Balls.

Come on, that's taking it way too far. We're all pissed off about DA2, but assuming that all console owners are retarded and can't tell a horses ass from its face is just rude and wrong.

Tone it down a bit.

BTW, why hasn't game informer updated the site yet? It says we return on 7/12 right? And to all the people taking shots at Halo because your assuming only bros play it.... its pretty much the only thats been helping me cope with the announcement of DA2, I've been pretty down the past few days. And to think that the day before the announcement came, we were all so excited. Posted Image

What's really tragic is that I just recently convinced my friend to buy Origins and he loves it. I bought him ME1 for his birthday almost a year ago and it was pretty much his first foray into RPGs. When asking me on a scale of one to ten how hardcore it was I laughed and told him to play Origins. Well just a few days ago he told me he's loving it and he decided to romance Morrigan. I almost wanted to cry. I told him to just put the game down now before he could be disappointed, but he didn't heed my warning. guess he's gonna have to find out the hard way......

DA2 better not be the death of the silent protagonist, its the pinacle of immersion when it comes to RPGs. Bioware was preaching that last year in interviews but now it seems like they got slapped across the face with EA's (yes, I try not to hate on EA too much, but this REALLY seems like their influence at work here) amnesia cooking pan and forgot all about it, sad indeed.

What really pisses me off is that Gaider actually used the, "well look at the Warden's high level, we can't just lower it back down to one, that would be crazy!" excuse over in the DA2 forums. Forget where exactly, plus I don't want to go back in there to look for it, the kiddies yelling that this game is going to be the **** really irks me. Seriously Gaider? You've written books and dialouge for multiple characters over the course of ten+ years and you can't think of one little story related reason as to why the Warden is back at level one? That's BS. Since they're already taking so many examples from ME, why not just look at how they made Shepard level one again? That's the one thing they SHOULD have taken from ME.....

This sucks is all I can say. No offence to Bioware, but at this point I really hope that DA2 turns out to be a huge meh fest and the developers realize they had it right the first time.

That eye symbol bears strikign resemblance to this:

Which is the symbol of Beraht.
So this organisation could be a criminal mafia. From the looks of the dwarf, I would say it's possible.

I mentioned it before but wasn't allowed to link pictures, but go look at an Art of Battle Chasers book and scale the designs down a little bit. This game is seriously leaning onto that style.

Now to catch up on all the new posts, I think we've had like six new pages since last night, and did I see another troll attack? Le gads.

EDIT: I also am of a favorable light to any attempts to change the look of Dragon Age because let's be perfectly honest, Origins original style was very bland. My concern is - of course - they try to go just a little too hip and edgy with things (which Blizzard themselves have admitted they've fallen into the trap quite a few times and had to scrap entire concepts back to square one) and it personal style becomes silly instead of damn cool.

On Game Informer, the 2 tiny screens are now HUGE:

I'm tempted to be critical, but I really hope those are a work in progress...the textures, lighting...don't really match up well with the concept art...the overly angled everything is a bit over the top and in dire need of some AA..
