Nah, we'd give him a truly epic death.

Imagine if he fought some incredibly powerful High Dragon. The dragon swallows Hawke but then choaks to death.

I'd rather see Hawke get killed by Morrigan. I wouldn't know whether to have a "YAY" or "WTF?" moment lol

I don't think dying makes one the most important person in Thedas. I doubt Hawke would die, or if there is an option for it. Except if in death, he does something important. You know, like pave the way for our Warden's return. That's pretty important.

There are a group of people who like the romance for what it is and enjoy the emotional attachment and the  rest are teenagers(or adults who carry the mindset of a teenager) who like Morrigan because she has nice boobs.

Oh come on bro, that evil witch has a totally rockin' bod with a niiiiiiice rack. I would so hit that cause I totally need that achievement, man.  /Bro-ified

But yeah, I hope they don't dumb down the romances- the very thing I loved about Morrigan's romance was that unlike ME where the romances just stop when you have your "Lets screw because we may die tomorrow" sex scene, in DA they actually have a natural progression and with Morrigan's the sex is only the beginning. Which doesn't explain why they give you the achievement for it right after your PC has sex with her the 1st time...

Damn it Brock, didn't ME2 teach you anything?

Bros want the achievement for banging the priiize (ie Morrigan). <_<

Let's no forget how many "lulz! I sexed teh Morrigan in Lothering man!" threads popped up after DA:O was released.

Lol what I loved was this: "WTF Morrigan doesn't want to have sex anymore but is on love!! WTF?!?!?!"

Whereas I took that as a good sign. It means she's really starting to love us. Her losing her temper quickly is also a sign.

Imagine what kind of impact that had on their self-esteem (yeah right. Like they had any to begin with...).

"Bro! I can't get a woman in rl and now this video game b.i.t.c.h totally gave me a cold shoulder?!" WTF man?!

Yeah... all that effort only to get screwed in the end....  The writers wouldn't do something like that......

Oh wait. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/pouty.png[/smilie]

Hopefully they can make a system that can actually read the flags properly this time...or that BioWare even understands what flags are needed *cough* Awakening*cough*

Are you referring to Morrigan related flags or flags in general?

You know, before Awakening was released I kind of predicted a screw up, but I wasn't sure if there was any mention of Morri so I didn't make a fuss about it.

I guess I can try to warn them about several flags that have a chance of ****ing up the importation again... but they probably won't listen and I really don't care at this point.

Yeah.... If the Warden's storyline is still in limbo by the time DA2 comes out, if I end up getting it, I'll just have Hawke do every dumb thing possible or at least everything that would help out my Warden, even if it screws over Hawke. But the whole ten year time span thing makes me think they'll have some juicy Plot Hammer moments in there for us...

I believe I'll go with femHawke for my first playthrough to mitigate the chances of any DR moments occuring, instead focusing on amping things up and being the ultimate badass.

Well, if the theoretical expansion pack/DLC does actually come to fruition, do you really believe it'll provide closure to the wardenxmorri subplot? Personally I think the appeal of dragging out the Morrigan thread ad infinitum is too much for the devs to resist.

Don't worry Bro, this is an area that will be addressed in DA2, via Hawke's harem ending.

I concur. Well, if I'm on the writing team, I'd probably vote for dragging it out. Hahaha. Honestly, the wardenxmorri subplot makes Morrigan extra interesting. Ending it too quickly would take off some interest. Wouldn't want that especially if they do have some plans to bring the warden back.

There's a thread in the DA2 forums on which NPCs will be returning, and Morrigan's was the only name Laidlaw mentioned.  I missed Flemeth.  It's kind of hard to keep up with the announcements and sort them out from the rumor.

I agree with Ximena. Ending the Wardenxmorri subplot with a premature happy ending somewhat cheapens the whole romance.

I don't get it- CD Projekt is tiny compared to BioWare, and the screens we saw today is the best BioWare can do?

The answer to that question is actually pretty easy. CD Projekt is a European company, as such the entire market view for them is radically different. In North America there is a perception that PC gaming is dying and that PC games don't sell like console games. As such consoles must always be considered and their technical limitations have to be accounted for at all times. CD Projekt however is from Eastern Europe where PC gaming is massive and consoles have no market traction at all as such they design for PC's and don't consider consoles except as an afterthought since they are make or break on how many PC gamers purchase their product. Imagine how much more you can do when you build for a machine that can have 20 times the memory of a 360.

*Makes a mental note to start looking at European games.*  Maybe the kids playing in smoky internet cafes will save us.

sounds familiar, i know i will be doing the same. Fem Hawke can check the territory without any kind of fear of gettin burned, and only she reports everything is any kind of male Hawke will ever dare to venture into Thedas. And is she reports or even suspects bad things could happen, bad-ass bearded cover Hawke will never ever get to the light ony the rig that is called mine. :D

If i remember his comment correct, he was asked about her and made a rather vague response while answering, onl ymentioning her name as it was given by the question. So if we're talking about the same wuote, would not read too much into it.

Why don't they just cave in and bring in Unreal 3?

I assume they don't want to bring in UE3 because they pumped a ton of money into the Eclipse engine and don't want to have to start from scratch all over again. Switching engines tend to leave a game in development hell for many years, a switch at this point from Eclipse to UE3 would mean a delay of at least a year or more. Also if they're going to do a save game import process an engine change would make that very difficult since UE3 can't read Eclipse savegames. In fact I can't think of any cross engine transfer of any kind ever existing in a game, even GameBryo to GameBryo requires conversion I can't imagine the nightmare it would take to go Eclipse to Unreal Engine 3.

Yeah, as I suspected, but I really was illustrating my frustration with their version of "new and improved" more than anything.  They've jettisoned the story and continuity most of us were looking for, why not go ahead and jettison Eclipse while they're at it.

I figured it was a bridge too far.

Excellent idea Terra.  Fem-Hawke is the way to play it!  And that's a definite yes on dragging out the Morri storyline indefinitely.  They will do that most certainly.

The Witcher, huh?  The lighting is superb.  I might have to play as you say.

BTW, on the ME2 front; in Overloard, I thing they've heard you talking Brock.  There are actually 2 sections where the onboard computer of the Hammerhead tells you that a pleasant view is approaching and that if you're humanoid you may want to stop and take it in.  A couple of long view sweeping vista put in there just for you.

I thought it was a neat little interjection anyway.

Re. gaming marketing strategy:  Mr. Addai and I had a discussion wherein he said that he plans to wait to get DA2 on discount, but in the meantime is going to play Bioware's dumb spaceship MMO in addition to this or that game.  So Bioware doesn't really lose out if gamers are going to start paying a monthly premium for the privilege of playing their games and then get DA2 anyway.  Maybe they are hoping to funnel the MMOers into Dragon Age.

you haven't played Thw Witcher. Then it's highly recommendabke that you do. Good story, really tough decisions where there is no good or bad, unforseeable consequences, and gripping and good story, and on top of it all, no hidden disappointment in the end.

And Witcher 2 is close already in the making.

But if you do, buy the Enhanced to avoid all the bug of the core game

The screens I posted were from the Witcher 2- the original Witcher doesn't look quite that good. But its telling that The Witcher 1 used BioWare's Aurora engine and in some of the new videos they have for The Witcher 2 the devs seem quite happy at having made their own engine and ditched the modified Aurora one they were using.

And I saw that part from Overlord on youtube- its a nice touch.

Yeah, I'm worried about TOR's influence on BioWare. The fact is that give it a couple of games and if DA is still kicking, its just primed to be turned into an MMO- especially since they're making DA all about Epic Stories in Thedas. It just sucks what they're doing with TOR- I loved both KOTOR games and then they ditch the single player to milk the MMO angle- not interested at all.

But I'll definitely perform my due diligence before getting DA2- I threw caution to the wind in pre-ordering Awakening and I regret it. Given all the changes they're making, I might just hold off and wait until DA2 goes dirt cheap on a Steam sale or something...

If I'm not mistaken, even if you find and buy the regular, non Enhanced edition, you can just download for free the Enhanced Edition as a patch. CD Projekt is awesome like that.

Just finished overlord last night, (the hammerhead has had a few funny lines like that in both overlord & firewalker) thought it was very similar to a particular mission in ME1. The regenade interrupt with that one geth getting dismembered at the end of vulcan station was probably the highlight of the experience, plus the hammerhead is certainly an improvement over the mako.

My biggest thing is that the BW posts seem to be falling back onto this 'You silly poster, you have no clue what you are saying because you know nothing about the game. If you kept an open mind you'd love us.' Tack on the super cheer squad following them around and then parroting it in other threads and it just gets maddening. You've told us some pretty big bits about the game so far, plenty enough to start forming opinions.

You are so right about that.  Their near indifference and glibness with (what at least started off as) constructive criticism is more than a little disturbing and really maddening from a consumer standpoint from a company that wants to "hawke" the next game in its franchise.

You are also right again, in that we ceratinly know enoguh (story elements, no Warden [thus no romance continuation], overhaul of the dialogue system, et al), to not only form opinions, but continue the discussion we have been holding for months in this thread. The ol,' "well you don't know enough to comment" palaver doesn't hold water.
