"6:30 Steel Age: Whispers reached the lands of Thedas that strange men had arrived in the northern jungle islands of the Boeric Ocean, tall men with horns and ships that fired thunder. These men called themselves “qunari”, and invaded the mainland in a great wave that took humanity by surprise."
I sense a retcon incoming.

The ogres had horns, and they're based on qunari, so... Hmm. Maybe horned Qunari exist?

Bold move.
Edit: Though vikings didn't have horned helmets it's still what people will think about.

Qunari are apparently inspired by vikings to a great extent. Even the viking religions is similar to the qun. Vikings always were helmets with big horns to appear demon like and stir fear within their enemoes. We never saw a qunari in full qunari made armor, i wouldn't be surprised if they were helmets like that as well. They also seems to travel the sea, so i wouldn't be surprised if qunari warbands came down to the free marshes on ships to plunder the citis close to the Waking Sea
Edit: Herr Uhl: they did not? where did you get that from? I was once visited a viking musuem, and while i agree that did look nothing alike that ones shown in movies, they still had horns on their helmets they showed there.
edit 2: i should probably add that viking musuem was in scandinavia, denmark to be precise

The theory I heard bandied in the DA2 forum is that the beresad have theirs removed so as not to stand out.KnightofPhoenix wrote...

Celtic tribes used horned helmets similar to the ones often depicted on vikings IIRC. That is probably where the misconception started and then got into how people imagined them. Where was this museum?MoSa09 wrote...

Just because the Swedish vikings went east on rivers they never get any credit. *walks away mumbling about friggin Denmark*edit 2: i should probably add that viking musuem was in scandivia, denmark to be precise

There was a bald Qunari in Awakening that had no stumps or anything. How would one go about removing that?Addai67 wrote...

Magic? [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wizard.png[/smilie] Maybe DA 2 will feature a "horn removal" spell [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/sideways.png[/smilie]
edit: i can already see how that frightens the ogres. First: big giant ogre with impressive horns, then zap... horns are all gone, and little ogre with no horns runs away scared and hides

I might wait for the Nintendo DS version. I'm sure it can run it with graphics like that.

Hmmm... yeah, I don't know about the whole giving the Qunari horns deal. That just seems awfully like a retcon to fit into the whole reworked darkspawn vibe of them looking more like mutated versions of their host race. I suppose the horns in question could be like a Viking helmet or maybe like a horn you blow on type thing?
Oh and here is the concept art Sten from Origins, for reference:

With the change in visual style, the one thing I'm really kind of concerned about is how they treat some of the already existing aspects from DAO which already had a fine visual style with lore to back it up. If they're retconning the Qunari with horns just to mesh with the new darkspawn look, I doubt they'd stop there if need be.
I just fear that if Morrigan makes an appearance again, they'll end up making her look all gothic and vampire like- since they seem to be going for the S&M, heavy metal aesthetic, that would be right up their alley.
So instead of the nice Morrigan we know, she'll end up looking like an "amped up" more gothic version like in the concept art:

If that happens, I am going to want to kill someone.
This is the only true Morrigan that is irreplaceable.

I get your point, but i have to admit i like her concept art as well, so i wouldn't mind. She was just a bit too young, about 18 or so, and that would have felt weird. I like her better in her late 20s, early 30s. But i think whatever they gonna do to her, they won't just make more than tens years younger. So at least in that one aspect, there is nothing to worry for me.

I would be really dissapointed if Morrigan did everything only to destroy the Chantry. It's very anti-climactic and not like her. She couldn't care less about the freedom of the masses and if they want to believe in whatever, let them as long as they don't bother her. I would be very meeh if that was her plan.
Unless the Chantry is *even more sinister* than we think
I just thought that maybe Flemeth's interest in the Blight and the Old God had more to do with just survival. I don't know if Morrigan wanted the Old God to continue Flemeth's plans, or to have the power to stop them.

Yeah, but given the overall attitude I'm getting from everything so far DA2 related, I'd be concerned they'd go overboard, like WAY overboard, to make Morrigan look even more "amped up." She looks perfectly fine in Origins, IMO and is one of the few characters that had a very nice, unique, memorable design. I just worry that in an attempt to top the old design they do something intentionally over the top to kind of shock everyone when we inevitably see her return....But thats just my unsubstantiated worry...

Well, they weren't literally firing thunder (were they?), so I assumed they didn't literally have horns...

I guess she could conceivably be wearing less clothing. That'd appeal to the Bros, right?
