Hmm... this doesn't sound too good because, from what I can see, Jade Empire was cartoonish and this guy comes back and with him is back the cartoonish style as well, so in the end there's nothing new, it's some recycled idea.

P.S. I didn't play Jade Empire, my idea is from I've seen online. :)

Its been a while since I played Jade Empire but from what I recall, it really borrowed alot from Chinese mythology and the environments sort of seemed like Chinese watercolors, what with the color palette that they used. Based on the source material, I remember it looking pretty good and not too cartoony for its time.

That said, I didn't have any major problems with the art direction and design of Origins. It was the technical side of things that failed in providing a unique look. My fear is that they just go overboard trying to establish some unique look and in the end kind of destroy the dark, gritty yet realistic vibe that Origins often strove for.

Apparently the voice work is being done already. This bodes ill for Alistair fans, since we know from Steve Valentine's Twitter page that he's not working on DA2 or any DLC.  Does anyone follow Claudia Black?  Has she given any indication she's been in the studio?

Just checking Claudia Black's imdb page it just looks like she did some voice work for a couple animated movies that are in post production. I'd imagine if BioWare knew they had further plans for Morrigan, they'd have her under contract. She did do work for ME2 as well and has done lots of other video game work too like Uncharted and Crysis too. That sucks about Alistair /Steve Valentine though. Its still pretty early though- VO is usually one of the last things they do, so its likely they're mainly working on the Hawke voices first to get everything nailed down there, since thats probably the most important role.

I would rather not see her again at this point. Her(crappy) ending can only get worse.

Gaider knows that people want to see a Morrigan/Warden reunion- whether it actually happens and what it would involve, I have no clue. At this stage though I'd just like some closure whether thats a rainbow and sunshine happily ever after ending or having everyone die in a rock slide. Just something- preferably not in a powerpoint either.

And here is a screen somebody posted in the DA2 forum which shows off the faces better and the new dialogue wheel. Its from the GI article hence the film grain look:

And going off-topic, I highly reccommend Predators, though.  It was pretty good.  A return to the things that made the first Predator awesome.  *looks at all the males*  If you haven't yet, go and see it.

Really?  I saw it last weekend and I thought it was -_-.  Then again I don't really remember the original so that might not be inaccurate.

I mean in the sense that it's just about good, clean violence.  Lots of monsters, big guns, fun ways to die, etc....  Can't really beat then.  Then again, I am a simple creature when it comes to such things.  Perhaps my threshold for awesomeness is lower.

This is the Morrigan thread, so I suppose I should gift you all something...

I know.  I almost wet my pants in the theater the first time I saw the first Expendables trailer.  I'm not even a man and I'll be doing my part to make sure it beats Eat, Pray, Love.  *gags*

I guess it did have plenty of violence.  I was expecting it to be scary/suspenseful... meh.  The choreography could've been a bit better too.  Although I did get a few laughs from the ex con dude

Haha I was like 3 when it came out!  My only real experience with predators was the video games and AvP.

I don't want to be overly critcal but "Then we fight" has to be the most unoriginal line I've ever seen, still it's welcome to actually see the bloody thing. Don't know why Hawke has to have a big smear of sh*t across his face but maybe it's cool, I wouldn't know. At least those two NPCs have realistically proportioned faces, unlike well um 70% of the NPCs in Origins and 90% in Awakening. It doesn't look like they made major changes to the facial generation system, which I appreciate since Dragon Age had a fantastic system already and changing it would have been stupid. One scan isn't enought to go on but it looks really Mass Effecty there like those 3 response are Paragon, Neutral and Renegade . . .

You had to go on N4G for that? You deserve a congressional medal of honour for that, N4G makes the DA2 fourms look like high cultured debate at an Ivy League University.

If that makes the DA2 forums look like an Ivy League debate, then what does N4G make this thread look like?

*whispers*  I've never even seen the original.

I know.  This is the kind of thing that gives the marital unit a heart attack.  I have good excuses, though.

Oh, he also says that he showed me Baldur's Gate 2 once and that I turned my nose up at it.  I don't remember that conversation so I'm pretty sure it never happened.  *shifty eyes*  Do the gurus of gaming here recommend playing Baldur's Gate 1 first before playing BG2?

Yes, if for nothing else to collect pantaloons. Get the mod that makes the interface like BG2 though.

Her blush makes me want to stab something. I want to smash BW's virtual makeup box.

I like Mike Hawke's look. Even with his misplaced dirty Sanchez.

I hope these will be preset.

Not that whinny bastard look I got for my mage and I was stuck with it all through the game.

Hawke will probably have presets like they do in DA:O and ME, but I *need* a character creator :P

I would also like to try and emulate something that looks like me, but that pic kind of does (and the freakish part is she looks like my sister a lot).
That whinny bastard I got in my anticipation to start playing DAO as soon as possible did not look like me!
And I didn't know that the appearance of the main character would be so much prevalant throughout the game!

Looking back at the Eurogamer article...

We like changing it up. We like challenging the players. We're not the
kind of group that wants to deliver the same thing over and over. What
tends to happen on that is you get two or three iterations and then
you're dead. The interest is lost. In some ways it's keeping it fresh
and challenging the player.

I'm wondering how the DLCs were meant to "challenge the player."  Darkspawn Chronicles challenged me to wonder what the hell they were smoking, does this count?
