If you think the DR is a suprise try the one in KOTOR. Not to spoil anything but its a serious:

OOOOMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGG NNNNNNNNNOOOOO!!!! WHY!!!!

kinda moment. After that Vader's and Luke's NNNNNNNOOOOOOOO moment is understandable.

@adneate: i wasn't prepared for that, well, cold encounter, and it hit me pretty hard. Hopefully, ME 3 can make up for it. I have two faithful Shepards, male and female, waitig for happy Liara reward in ME 3. Maybe that will also teach the DA team how to proper close a love story, as they already heavily borrowing from Mass Effect

Indeed it's awkward at first but it makes more sense if you stick with it, you've been dead two years and she gave your mangled corpse to terrorists because she was too weak to let go. So she's betrayed the philosophy of her people in addition to fearing that you hate her guts for putting you in such a mess with Cerberus. Though I contend that if you cheat on her because of that then in ME3 you should get turned into liquid reaper food and see if you like that better than working for Cerberus.

As for closing a love story well a bunch of the people on DA worked on Throne of Bahaal so it's not that they don't know how to it's just that for whatever reason they feel they don't have to do that for DA.

Liara fan here too.  Was totally depressed with her distracted and cool reaction in ME2 on my first playthrough.  Second playthrough I got the right dialogue choices and realized quickly the why of it all.  My first Shep cheated (obviously fodder of liquifaction) and the other did not, so Shep 2 should survive the inevitable Biotic blitz!

The whole 'Champion of Kirkwall' thing that they've been bashing us over the heads with makes me think that we wont get to see the majority of these places in DA2. Escaping from Lothering in a cutscene at the most I'd say. But then again, what do I know?

Can't wait for the patch to the consoles. Good to know that the letters just appear, since I only used one save for my first Awakening playthrough. It not being with the soldier who delivers letters is helpful in my situation since I saved right before fighting the Mother, but I agree with Brock that at the same time, it makes Awakening into a much larger fail. Why take advantage of something when you could just use it for some pointless quests?

You're supposed to visit in this order - Tatooine, Kashyyyk, Manaan, and then Korriban. :)

Well until that scene you never have all the pieces to put it toghther.

I liked it since it made so many lines and motivations clear while making you lose it.

The Witcher, huh? I might just have to try it. Witcher 2 looks fantastic. I finally finished Oblivion and all I can say is ...Wow. I can honestly say I will be looking forward to a sequel and will pre-order with no qualms whatsoever. Can't say that for DA2. Focusing on Thedas and not the Warden is just...well..no, for me.

I was going to jump right into Red Dead two nights ago after finishing Oblivion, but decided to go ahead and start KOTOR instead, as Blademaster, Brock or Terra_Ex directed me to do. I actually am enjoying it and can honestly say it feels extremely Bioware-ish, even if it is ancient beyond all reason.

Anyway @Addai, try KOTOR if you haven't yet. It's very amusing and very easy to pick up.

Hope you like it, its my favorite game of all time. Well.... tied with the second one that is. Approach KOTOR 2 with caution though, you don't play as your PC from the first game which as I can tell, your obviously very pissed off about with DA2 (same here). However, in KOTOR2's defense, the first game actually provides closure for the PC and the party so complaining about not being the PC from the first game was being a bit over-dramatic. Unlike the case with DA2.

Despite my inability to control my inner rage demon, I am fair minded in that if there is closure to a story/game, I'm with you on a sequel (providing I actualy liked the overall game).  But this notion of hyperactive story telling, jumping around a sandbox, wearing multiple skins, adding and jettisoning companions, while the writers feel no responsibility to the players (in fact, they seem to believe it a virtue) to even end each segment with some finality (whether good, bad or ugly), is just not going to sell with me.

This is the reason I know I am way beyond the demographic targeted for this franchise (if the early marketing hype is to be believed).

@Addai

It's perfectly normal to get maimed when you first start The Witcher, stick with it and once you figure out the combat all will be well (you should still expect to get slaughtered every once in a while though by bosses). MoSa covered the combat mechanics pretty well so you should be fine.

Did you finish the Shivering Isles expansion as well? Red Dead is pretty good imo, I enjoyed it at least and the semi-secret final mission is especially gratifying.

His sister will die or have some other cruel twist of fate in store, lest the writers wouldn't bother to include a sibling as a companion. Don't have much more to say on DA2 atm, the map's not doing much for me and I've no interest in the DA2 forum atm if the wars are still ongoing.

I usually do Manaan after Leviathan, because I don't like going to a world and not finishing on it. I do Korriban after Tatooine so I can finish Carth's sidequest and Korriban at the same time.

Also, don't you a names with too many Ys? <--Is ironic:P

KOTOR was fun, being a Jedi was awsome and leaving Sith corpses everywhere is carthartic.

Malak was an awsome baddie, and you really did feel like it was: The True Jedi vs The Dark Lord.

The Shivering Isles expansion pack is amazing, Sheogorath is brillant and everything he says is great, plus it has a genuinely interesting twist and a rather unexpected outcome.

I agree about the Shivering Isles. It saved my Oblivion experience. I was so happy to get back to the unique fantasy look, like what made Morrowind so interesting, instead of the overdone medieval thing.

I'd give them about a week or two to release it for consoles, less if we're lucky but I highly doubt it would take them more than two weeks. That would be ridiculous. Don't quote me on that though. Ya, Bioware wanting to win over the Bro crowd with DA2 doesn't make much sense to me either. The first one sold extremely well, just manage development more efficiently and the returns should be greater, no? Of course its much more complicated than that, but I'm a dreamer. Can't stop me from doing what I do best. Posted Image

Hehe. Not me. My character wanted to take up permanent residence there, in whatever the main city in the Shivering Isles was called. I forget.

While i love Bethesda's work and you cant top their immersion in their worlds, Bioware makes me feel for a world better and for the people more.

Though seeing Emperor Picard die made me shed a manly tear.
