I just think some are overreacting in the DR canonization issue. Gaider cleared that it doesn't happen in a US warden. Chances are, one of a player's saves is a Warden who opted for DR. They could just not play their US'd warden or Bioware could opt for not letting the players use the US saves for a DA game with the Warden as the protagonist. >_>

Since I haven't really read the previous posts attentively as of this moment, I'll pass up jumping in the convo for now.

Anyway, I found this at dA. Previews for DAO action figures to be released soon (according to the uploader). Wish there was a closer look on the Morri one. :(

Stumbled upon it in here.

Ok, well, Loghain fanatic that I am, I won't go out of my way to get this guy, but if I happened to see him at my local collectables store, It'd be hard to pass up.

I want this one for my yard:

But I dont' think they're selling them. Posted Image

Now, the NDA essentially prevents folks from filming or picturing the Special Sneak Peek. However, it will not stop fans from talking abotu it. We WANT our fans to experience what we have and then tell their fans how cool it was http://social.biowar...88&lf=8#3181527

Since we are only 4 hours away from opening the doors I think it is now safe to say, if you come down, you will have your first chance to get your hands on and PLAY Dragon Age 2.  http://blog.bioware.com/

Oh, people are going to get to play the game, not just see it. Curious and excited to know how this is going to go.

This is the same as declaring it canon. :D This would turn out to be a suicidal for BioWare. That is not going to happen. Even Awakening let you import dead Wardens who got re-animated without explanation.

Oh well. I just hope Bioware does not decide to overlook the great potential of the DR storyline. I don't think they will. The way I see it, they will take the storyline path which would be more interesting, and seeing the clamor for the DR repercussions, I think they know people want it.

The question is when they're going to bring this forth and how they're going to go about it.

On a randon note, at least the ME team knows that the fans want, and they do not fail us. I picked the wrong BioWare game it seems, as my second unfinished love story at least get into overtime.

A decent romance? Depth to companions? Roleplay? Having continuity in a game that was planned as a trilogy from the start? Blasto?

They may make better DLC, but games? Nah, not to me. Not having anything for the romances from ME1 despite an e-mail, being shooed off to do their work and hugging a picture of them meant that there was something missing from the game at launch.

Meh, carry on.

@Herr Uhl: you know how to kill a mood i see :P

But i never said ME  2is the perfect game or superior to Origins. I just stated the fact that Liara is a beloved character (and romance option) many of her fans wanted back, and the ME team delivers, unlike their Origins counterparts. Nothing more.

And yes, ME 2 was lacking th depth of Origins, and while i played Origins multiple times and ME 2 just once, i enjoyed it and i am sure i will enjoy this dlc as well.

This just reinforces the strange impression i get that two BioWare teams work in Edmonton: one of them is doing Mass Effect, and they know how to handle dlc pretty well. The other, working within the same building probably in the office next door, does not really know how create good dlc *cough* Darkspawn chronicles *cough*

I like the news, and we'd get to know more about the shadowbroker, good news.

I thought that it was only the Dragon Age one that was in Edmonton, the KOTOR one in Austin and ME team in Montreal.

There has been pointless DLC to ME too *cough*pinnacle station*cough*.

Ah, i never tried that, i only played ME 2 dlc. And as far as i've heard, both teams work in Edmonton. I once read an interview shortly pre release of ME 2 with Casey Hudson, he showed some screenshots and spoiled a few details, and that one was done in Edmonton. Nevertheless, this might have had other reasons and the rest of the team was working in Montreal.

Those action figures are neat I would totally buy Morrigan, Sten,
Leliana or Alistair if I saw one of them while browsing a store, but I
don't think I could put myself up to order one at least yet lol.

To touch on the DR and canon. I'm not sure on how I feel about this. I
want my characters that romanced Morrigan and did the DR to get proper
endings and continuation, and at the same time I don't want to nullify
other endings I did from a storyline point of view, but on the other
hand it isn't very reasonable to expect BioWare to develop a story with
the preserved Old God and one without because I doubt and Old God
wouldn't just go into seculsion and not make some major impact on the
world or have a major influence in the plot/storyline.

The mentioning of darkspawn chronicles and the DR reminded me of this;
my wife showed me a while back
http://www.youtube.c...?v=2SQEz7hF0u4. We both agreed that this
would be similar to how Morrigan would talk Alistair up for the DR if
the Warden didn't exist.

Woot! Now just give me Liara for ME3 as a full squadmate and LI and I'll actually buy ME3 around release date instead of many months later at a deep discount.

I loved ME2 for what it was and even hearing good things about the DLC, I'm just not interested in any of the DLC at all. I think its at least in part because I liked the characters but there wasn't any one that I really loved. Maybe the DLC that starts bridging things together will be more interesting.

I'm curious to hear from people who go to Comic Con to play DA2. Supposedly the NDA is against filming and pictures and stuff- hopefully they have a PC version there and somebody can comment on the gameplay.

Well, she has plot armor for ME 2, as well as Kaidan and Ash, so i assume they did for a specific reason. But why wait: give me back my Liara LI in that dlc:wub:

So far from the ME series the only character I really liked was Liara so this DLC might be the second one I buy after the Kasumi DLC (Which I really wanted for the SMG, I know lame but modding is hell for this console port) so I'm interested since they want to bridge the transition from ME3 to ME3 with DLC. I just hope they don't frack the writing on it this time, it's a legit fear since the series has not had fantastic writing at every turn and Liara has had a bit of a rough time with the plot gods.

Also for DA2 I imagine the NDA is because it's still alpha and probably both runs and looks like crap, and they don't want the general public seeing the game in such a mess. That's usually what such NDA's are used to guard against either that or the section being showed off is going to be demoed to some magazine or website and they don't want some blogger getting the first scoop.

I'm not thrilled they're pimping out the 360 version- I know they want to emphasize the console versions this time around but I've been PC gaming long enough to see the writing on the wall. There is a good chance the PC version of DA2 isn't going to get much attention or at least will just absorb the console's design aesthetic and philosophy, which really disappoints me.

Maybe I'm just far too cynical at this point giving their crummy PR/Marketing, but I'd love to hear something more detailed than "It was great and responsive!" Maybe the game is really shaping up that good, but I'll remain skeptical as hell over everything DA2 related until we see some solid PC gameplay and they start talking about the PC version in detail- and not just about the PC combat either, but about a toolset and other PC centric features and design implements. Because everything about DA2 right now reeks of a console port. I have nothing against consoles, it just irks me to see DA2 going down that road after Origins was such a delightful AAA PC oriented experience.

Anyway, I was looking more into Throne of Blood today- so its basically Kurosawa's take on MacBeth? Perhaps, DA2 and Hawke's Rise to Power by whatever means necessary is like the Dragon Age version of MacBeth? A stretch at this point perhaps, but both are seemingly about grabbing power and we've got witched seemingly playing a role in both- it also just so happens that Flemeth can seemingly give prophecies of the future too....

I had to go over to Bethsoft forums and read some of the Fallout New Vegas threads. I was curious if they were as crazy as the DA2 ones here. Refreshingly, people are talking about how they want the text of the PC responses to be longer and how only important characters even need voice acting. To read the opinions in DA2, the unvoiced PC is so 1990.

Well if there's one thing we can all trust in it's that Bethesda won't make TES V fully VOed, speaking of TES V they really need to announce that game. It has to Tech 5 based I mean why wouldn't it be they own id as a matter of logical sense they should use the engine from the company they now own.

A TES V announcement would make me very happy, especially if it's an elven story line as has been rumored.

I heard Skyrim myself but there are nothing but rumors on the next Elder Scrolls game, Bethesda isn't known for being a leaky company (unlike say EA or Microsoft) but they've been fantastically tight lipped about the follow-up to Oblivion. Information is so scarce that many people even wondered if Bethesda was ever going to do another Elder Scrolls game at all. It's a totally different marketing style from BioWare's, "OMFG This is so cool it's the best game we ever made you should totally see this one part! But I can't tell you anything right now it would do the game discredit." Which basically means, "We're going to parcel the info up and sell if off to the highest bidder and make you pay for every scrap for months and months."  That style of hype driven marketing doesn't really appeal to me since I'd rather know actual things about the game not just their PR department telling me how amped and gritty the game is going to be when I buy it. Just thinking about what we're going to have to go through for the next couple months makes my head hurt, I doubt we will get any real answers to what kind of game DA2 will actually be in relation to Origins until a month or two before release.

I haven't been following any Elder Scrolls news but from what little I've been following was that there were rumors of a TES MMO...I sure hope not, but you never know...That would be rather goofy IMO, since Oblivion and the like is practically a single player MMO anyway- minus the nice revenue streams for Bethesda.

And some good ol' Morrigan art, hooray!

I chuckle at how Duncan's figure is posed like he's saying, "Recruit, drink this, or I will be forced to end your life." EDIT: Oh, SurelyForth beat me to it. XD

Anyway, to avoid being too offtopic, aimo did new Morrigan art a few days ago. XD And I think Swoo will be happy.

Awesome picture! It does make me sad though since Bioware's content to just throw everything from Origins to the side now. :crying:

The mini's look cool as well. I really do like the Loghain one, can't tell about the Morrigan one, the Duncan one...I dunno...the cup and sword just doesn't seem like such a great pose. I think of Duncan now, I think of him going at a Ogre with a blade in each hand and being kind of tattered. Nitpicking though, the statuettes seem well done.

Not even going to bother with the Hotel DA2 stuff. NDA's will keep a stranglehold on any information to keep it from being worthwhile, and I'm a PC player so I don't care how it plays on an XBOX (personally of course, I'm sure there are those that have been waiting to hear just this...), and if there's one positive of PR buzzwords it's how easy it is to beat them into peoples brains to get easy parroting from them, so I'm sure the whole 'fluidity' and 'artistic stamp' and the like are being bandied about by every would be critic now.

I thought they already let TES V slip, btw? I could have sworn when they were talking about Fallout before they let it 'slip' that they were trying to get number five out at the tail end of 2010, early '11.

That's partly true but it's not Bethesda Softworks that is working on MMO's it's a division of their umbrella company ZeniMax Media running an MMO outfit called ZeniMax Media Online Studios which is working on an unknown game right now. Bethesda Softworks doesn't need to take the risk of making an MMO that flops and they lose the whole studio since they just use ZeniMax Media (which Bethesda founded) to allocate funds for an independent studio that assumes all the risk and debt associated. If it's a success they get the money anyway and if it bombs they let the ZeniMax Online go down in flames and move on. You have a ton of freedom when you technically own your publisher.

Possibly. But again it's a case of more rumors than any official information out of Bethesda, the most they've said is they aren't done with the Elder Scrolls Franchise.

Technically the NDA barrs talking about it as well, but it's a lot easier to get around it if you can present it as some fan's theory and speculation.

Until I see gameplay myself, I'm going to assume that all of those people that were raving about how awesome the game was were given fifty bucks each by Bio when they were walking out the door.

Has anyone seen the 360 avatar DA costumes? :D I'm pretty excited. Probably going to pick up either Duncan's armor or the Blood Dragon plate. Duncan's beard should have been an option........ Waste of money? Yes. Epic though? Yes.

Just goes to show you how much of a Bioware fanboy I am, I'll pretty much follow them to the depths of hell but time and time again they just keep kicking me in the balls. Again and again and again. :crying:
