My belief is that they realize people aren't exactly thrilled by having to move on to Hawke in DA2, so Bioware might let us get back to the Warden at some point in order to give us the closure and set him off properly.

If they do so and provide closure, i am more than fine. I do not generally mind them moving on to a new chapter, i don't mind then if they introduce a new hero and new companions, and i couldn't care less if they call him Hawke, falcon, eagle, dove or parrot. All i would ask for is to really finish the stories they have opened up previously.

I don't mind if Dragon Age is about interesting stories throughout Thedas. I do mind if Dragon Age is about unfinishes stories throughout Thedas.

Exactly.

I didn't really paid attention to all these changes to be honest.... I'm still stuck at the "new character" part, and i just can't understand how am I supposed to get into this Hawke character when my previous PC is limbo.

-Voiced character and dialogue wheel? Okay, I don't like it but I'm willing to give it a chance. I didn't really mind Mass Effect so I should be ok.

-New combat? Great, actually. I'm pretty much an expert when it comes to DAO combat. I need a new challenge.

What concerns me is that I don't want to play DA2 and find my self in the same position I'm in now.

Maybe at the end of the game Bethanny gets kidnapped by aliens. Hawke "vanishes" into the galaxy and swears that he will find her.

And then, DA3 comes along and Hawke gets ditched for a guy named Eagles. Eagles is so badass that he will be the most important person in the galaxy -- not only Thedas. And Bethanny's story is not yet complete.

Actually, i think the next heros name should not be inspired by a bird again. How about "Tunah". Or "meerkate" ;)

I think they do have an ending planned for Hawke. It's much easier to do anyhow, it being a third person narative. And if they don't? Well I dont' think I will care as much as I do for my Warden tbh.

Yeah I don't mind playing a new hero in a new setting in Thedas, but I do mind when my previous hero gets sent off on a very vague epilogue side. I want something more tangible than "Warden vanishes blah blah his tales may or may not be over"

So the Woomaster told us that talking about Morrigan is off topic? Porquis!

Also what does Morrigan say if you are female, but couldnt convince, Alistair or Loghain?

"You are both fools."

:P

The dialogue is pretty much the same for any PC.

Why is the femPC a fool? Dosent she just say "Sorry but Ali/Loghain dont want to'?

Ah well dosent really matter to me since I am months from being able to finish another game.

It's actually ridiculously easy to convince them. It's up to you whether you want Alistair or Loghain to do it.

And come to think of it that's got to be another one of those BS moments in the DR. I don't like how the burden is on YOU to convince either one of them.

Imagine having both Morrigan and Alistair at -100 approval(hostile). Everyone hates each other, and the dialogue is still the same(eg: He won't listen to her but he will agree to do it if you tell him). lol

One thing that could have made the DR more interesting was if, Alistair was hardened, or in a romance with the warden, and if not talked to do the DR.

It makes so little sense that Morrigan couldnt convinve Alistair to try and save the woman he loves, or his best friend. Then again he does really hate her.

And I could just picture us getting a random Warden-related epilogue slide in DA2. "Meanwhile, the Warden who stopped the last Blight was seen in Val Royeaux asking for the whereabouts of a sorceress..."

Yeah, they'd do that only to have DA3 be about some Qunari orphan trecking around Kal Sharok in search of his mystical singing Bronto...If BioWare would just provide some meaningful closure, I could get behind Dragon Effect 2. As it is though, I'm not buying any more DLC or anything BioWare until we get some news that they're not just going to ditch the Warden and essentially leave Origins unfinished becuase they wanted to go play with their new shiny Hawke.

I understand now that in BIoWare's view, Origins was just about stopping the Blight, that nothing else really mattered. But for me, Origins was great because of the characters and their stories. I just can't get enthusiastic about a new story with a new PC  when the Warden and his companions get unceremoniously kicked to the curb with a cheap powerpoint slide. Sorry BioWare, thats not good storytelling in my book.

Warden: I stopped a blight almost by myself.

Hawke: I ran away with my little sister to the Free Marches

Warden: I killed demons, darkspawn, undead, mercenaries, darkspawn, golems, and around three dragons.

Hawke: SSSSSSSSSPPPPPPPPPPPPAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRTTTAAA!!!!

Warden: I built meanigful loving relationships and friendships with a diverse group of people.

Hawke: I had some meaningless shallow flings, and killed the rest

Warden: I am from the entire social order of a nation, a man or woman, a peasent or a noble

Hawke: I can have a sex change at the start!

Warden: I represent one of the definitive, most immersive RPGs ever made.

Hawke: I am a sell out to bros, and the instant gratification crowd.

Warden: I think its clear who wins this round

Hawke: Yes it is.

Bioware: HAWKE WINS!!! He is the most stupendious being ever!

ME: ORLY?

Maybe some German speakers can clarify this finding from this thread:

Querne wrote...

I´m not sure if it was mentioned before, but the German gamona side tells, that also gamers on the PC there won´tbe able to zoom out to get an tactical overview, because it would make fighting details and animations hard to see and rise hardware requirements. Instead better camera views were promised:

Die taktische Ansicht aus Dragon Age: Origins (war nur auf PC möglich), die mehr Überblick in den Schlachten lieferte, entfällt komplett, auch auf dem PC. So weit herausgezoomt würde man die detaillierteren Kampfeffekte nicht mehr erkennen und auch die Hardware-Anforderungen wären höher. Zum Ausgleich soll es bessere Kameraperspektiven geben.

http://www.gamona.de...kannt-dialograd erklaert:news,1780981.html

Thats total rubbish if they get rid of the zoomable camera on the PC and get rid of the tactical view....could they be referring to the PC version?

Morrigan and Edric do not care for this news...

Keep telling it like it is Brock. Seriously, you're one of the only people that sees eye to eye with me on this. THe Blight seemed so secondary on my playthroughs, it was all about getting to know these characters and forming meaningful relationships with them. Bioware got EVERYTHING right with Origins, I mean that. I don't give a **** if the combat was a bit clunky, that comes with the game being an rpg. The combat was a bit 'clunky' in KOTOR, Jade Empire and ME1. Did that stop people from playing them or from those games being praised by critics? No. KOTOR was even named game of the year and is my favorite game of all time even. Ea should rest easy knowing that people who can't handle the slowish combat in Origins could just go play battlefield bad company, another game owned by them. But no, as it was highlighted at their conference at E3, they want their games to be easier to get into and to appeal to a larger audience. **** THAT.

And to all the people being re-assured by Gamespot's view of the game so far, I'd take their view with a grain of salt. They DID fire Jeff Gerstmann because his review of Kane and Lynch wasn't to their liking, just saying.

EDIT: Games being more accesible is one thing, alienating the core to get to that wider audience is another. that's what I meant. Posted ImagePosted Image

This is my thought best summed up by Yahteze on the escapist, about the talk for DA2:

As the most agitated zookeeper in the world told the last male panda in the world: F*** THAT!

I love Zero Punctuation! At this point, I can see Yahtzee completely tearing DA2 to shreads in his review. Can't wait. Posted Image

The translation seems correct if my high-school German is any judge. It might be that they've gotten rid of the zoom and now have a step thing, far out, close and isometric considering the "camera angles" *shrugs*

Edit: Or not angles, perspectives. Still the same thing though.

It hasn't got to do with what I think, I have no real opinion yet.

But actually wanting it to be bad just seems stupid.

Edit: I need some hard info on PC combat.

Well I thought ME2 was going to be great! What with all their vaunted improvements, then all we got was ME2.

Since the DA team is talking about DA2 in the same way that the ME2 team was talking about their game then I am preparing for garbage.

Better to take garbage in the face then leave your mouth open to swallow it whole, as the saying goes.

Of course not! Firstly because I love Bioware as a company and secondly because in terms of big releases, they've never disappointed. Do I expect it to be bad at this point? Yep, I honestly do. As a watered down hack n slash with rpg elements? No. As a hardcore rpg like Origins? Yes.
