Its unbelievable i beat Brock, Mr. DA 2 information ^_^

The artwork for all DA 2 races is released. Humans stay the same, and to me, it seems dwarfs are slightly improved while elves have lost some of their appeal.

Whenever I see the new Qunari I can't help but be reminded of Draenei from WoW (minus the tails and hooves). However, I'm starting to warm up to the new looks.

Elves seem to be the same as in Origins to me, except they're now about equal in hight to humans.

Dwarves are the same as before.

Well, at least we have someone besides Gaider chatting about Morrigan's future:

Havent they already said they are NOT done with Morrigan?

We sure did! I think I was asked about a hundred times at Comic Con, and the answer's always the same: "We're not done with Morrigan's story."

I don't mean to sound dickish, but at least having Morrigan show up in DA2 only to have Hawke deal with her is a bit like having some randow Jawa confront Darth Vader in Empire Strikes Back instead of Luke- the  past history between the Warden and Morrigan is prime stuff to be played with in the future IMO.

So, you're saying I should cut any references to Morrigan from DA2? Wow. That, sir, is a brave thing to request. It's like unleashing the hounds! ../../../images/forum/emoticons/wink.png

At this point all I can say is that I personally do not believe the Morrigan fans will be disappointed by what the future has in store.

Well, they sure seem to be set on giving some kind of conclusion to the Morrigan romance.

It remains to be seen if we'll be disappointed or not. For some reason I believe Mike when he says we'll not be let down.

With the number of things these guys think are good ideas and not disappointing in the least I think that's more frightening than hope inducing. I wanna see the ideas that they think will disappoint us cause I gotta say I'm totally not stoked right now when apparently I should totally be.

I am reassured by recent dev comments pointing towards Morrigan story still open.

@ adneate hehe you have a point there that connot be argued with :P

Still it is quite fascinating how much us more rabid fans want the continuity. Somehow it just feels like no matter what they do we will most likely go ape**** over it anyways so I do understand some of the positions the dev's have been taking. Still the issue at hand is that they need to make money with da2, preferably a lot more than with DAO. I don't know if we should blame EA or Bioware for this as much as we should be blaming the stockholders that will run away from EA to Activision or other publishers if the return on investment goes down or doesn't increase at a rate that is competitive to other investment oportunities.

That is frankly the nature of the system we live in, a monetary society, and no matter how much we **** and whine about it that won't change in the short run. Sure we can keep on claiming bioware are evil corporate ****s but it won't change the fact that we all are. I don't know about you dudes and dudettes but I work for a corporation and the odds are most of us are either doing that or working for a company that in one way or another is reliant on one. Every corporation that does not play the "maximize profits" game eventually goes down the drain unless they manage to somehow market themselves as the great fairtrade corporation and thus manages to for a while guilt trip us into consuming their products. Then we consumers forget about it the next time we have to choose between a nice and and evil product the moment our wallets are hit with a cashdraught...

Nvm I will stop boring you guys with my worthless off topic rant...

To get back on topic: I'm approaching the end of my supposed last origins playthrough (had 5 of those already I believe :D) and wondered how to best handle the morrigan epilogue issue. At the moment my plan is to avoid mods and go for the ring epilogue, hand her the mirror after finishing off the archdemon in camp and then getting the awakening epilogue. I'm worried though how the dev's will read the savegames in DA2 since frankly they have proven to be quite adept at screwing up continuity in savegame flag department. So I wonder what is the most likely combination of flags that they will read to determine how morrigan, if she appears, will respond or act? My best bet still lies with the ring epilogue since they know of the issue in awakening..but on the other hand they still don't seem to be willing to make those changes to awakening due to the patching restraints on the consoles...thus I am confused, anyone willing to offer suggestions beyond the multiple saves approach? :D

Also the new drawings look intriguing. Somehow despite the horns I do see a fair bit of resemblance between sten and that male Qunary so perhaps all is not lost in that department ;D I read in one topic on the matter that the image is not to scale though, post here:

Either way excuse the rant and enjoy yer day :wizard:

Another tidbit I noticed in the Art podcast:

In fact, even though the characters were very successful in Dragon Age: Origins, we actually went ahead and rebuilt the head morph system from scratch. The idea behind that was basically to increase fidelity of the faces, increase the range of faces, and improve the way lip sync works on the faces and the emotional impact and the acting of the characters. So we spent a lot of time making it possible for you to make any character that you want--any human character.

What does this mean in terms of seeing old characters like Morrigan, actually looking like Morrigan should they appear in DA2? On one hand, if its a brand new system they might not be able to just transfer the face morph over and instead try to "amp up" a new face for Morrigan. Or maybe the new system allows them to just transfer Morrigan;s face morph over and just be higher quality? Yeah, they'll be messing with it some way should she appear in DA2.....

@brock well IIRC they mentioned that they have remade the character editor from scratch to work better with the voiceovers so the odds are that they will have to redo everything as you suspect. We can only hope that they stay true to what made morrigan morrigan but if she returns there will have to be some changes merely based on the fact that they are upping the polygon count of the characters from what we can see in the pics of flemeth, hawke and his sister. Some small changes must be there since they will remake her completely but perhaps they will be able to pull it off nonetheless...nvm just hoping atm xD

i just hope that BW isn't going to screw up Morrigan as they done with Liara in ME2

and i hope that it's not going to be this Hawke guy, who will handle the OGB thing

since i believe it should be handled by our warden

and not some guy who wants to become a leader of some sort

For the future importations, that is indeed interesting. I remember in an interview with Fernando Melo from Bw he said that there will be no autosave after Awakening and we will understand once the newest piece of dlc is announcement/has arrived. What to make out of that, i have no clue.
Maybe they return to add more to the Original game like Warden's Keep and RtO? Two things are certain. there will be future content for Origins, at least dlc, and there is no autosave after Awakening.
The rest is pure speculation.
But keeping this up is a good idea, let's say the miracle happens and we get closure only to realize that bug prevent's that from happening...

lol. we all need to stay strong. BW must surely realize there is demand for Morri fanbase.

You know, that's the way I felt after one playthrough with ME2, being a devout Liara fan. I felt that not only was it over between Shep and she, but it was really over.  My Shep sought solace elsewhere.

However, when I finally completed all of her (seemingly ridiculous) missions on playthrough 2, the dialogue options opened up with Liara that explained her distance and distraction; and, at least to me, expained a solid backstory with the Shadow Broker that will be worth exploring, (providing one did not cheat on her I suppose).  I foresee an innocent nerdy girl transforming into an avenging Asari going on a biotic blitzkreig, based upon her love for Shep.  I am very much looking forward to the Liara DLC and ME3, because at least with this franchise they seem to hit the expectation mark, and resolution with Liara is virtually guaranteed.  Based upon what we know now, I'm glad Liara sat on the bench for ME2.

I could be wrong, but the romance is begging for resolution and I think the ME Team will deliver.

I'll sign on to that.  The Morri men know how much I heart you and am hoping we find Morrigan one day and that she's not up to no good.  Or if she is up to no good, that it's really really worthy of her character.

BTW, if any of you wade into the scary world of fanfiction, my ongoing story leans on Morrigan in some ways (and getting moreso as it goes on).  So if you're bored, you know... The latest, called Fire, is the most Morri-centric, and can be read as a stand-alone even though it builds on the rest.

So Gaider responded in usual brisk fashion to this thread:

David Gaider wrote...

"Always leave them wanting more."

Closure is for suckers.

../../../images/forum/emoticons/angel.png

To which I comment on Gaider's status page:

You enjoy tormenting us poor Morrigan fans, don't you? :(

Whereby Gaider replies:

Sometimes you just have to throw a rock at the hornet's nest. :)

And then Laidlaw adds to the thread:

Mike Laidlaw wrote...

Brockololly wrote...

Dammit man, Laidlaw comes in and instills a little hope only for Darth Gaider  to bust down the door and force choke the hope out of the poor Morrigan romancing Wardens and Morrigan fans.

This is the key to Dragon Age: Gaider and Laidlaw locked in a Balrog-and-Galdalf-like duel as we plunge through the burning heart of Thedas.

Someone should really get on drawing that, and try to work a chrome griffon playing an electric guitar into the background somewhere.

There is an idea for you Ximena!:P

Agree up to a point.  I agree until being called "myopic" by one of those developers for the sole offense of having reasonable consumer expectations for a future product they wish you purchase.  They have the story they want to tell and we have the one we actually want from them (and it doesn't include a PC named Hawke).

Sorry, I'm one of the jaded ones here. Posted Image

True but they have suckers like me hooked. I would play DA2 in hope of any clue on Morri. Would prefer an expansion resolving the story though...

I did the DR on one of my characters I just finished, and I was thinking she says "Some would call it Blood Magic", and when she said that it never clicked in my head(8 finished chars now) that Blood Magic uses life force, so who's life force is being used and how much and what for other than allowing of a child with the taint. Could there be another motive or after effect of the DR other than the OGB. For example;

Doing the DR binds you or Morrigan's life to the OGB basically making you/her and the OGB near immortal.

Because Blood Magic can do a lot of tricky things see Avernus, Jowan/Isolde, Elf Slaver; I mean almost all instances there is a large amount of life force being used to create these effects, and often spit out a lot of power enableing the user to become more powerful. It just doesn't sound that simple of a Ritual to be Blood Magic. Either someone is going to be feeling the pain from giving up their life force possibly dieing because you are doing something that is near impossible creating a child with the taint. It makes me also think there is also a big bonus for the caster of the spell(Morrigan).

I think the sacrifice is already provided in the form of the Archdemon. I really don't know how the blood magic rituals are supposed to work but there was plenty of blood shed during the battle at Denerim at the lifeforce Morrigan wants in the first place is that of the Archdemon.

Possible title for an expansion with regards the god baby, Dragon Age: The Tainted Prince.

or Dragon Age: The Dark Prince :P
