Warden Alistair has plenty of reason to show up at the Keep, and any one of the companions has as much reason as Wynne to turn up in Amaranthine.  Edit:  Although I think they are setting up something for DA2 there, with the mages meeting in Cumberland.

Most of the companions had stuff to do elsewhere.

The only one who didn't have anyting special going on was Oghren.

I'm also curious about the meeting of Colleges of Magi in Cumberland. Makes me wonder if we'll see some refference to it in DA2...

Heh- I do not shed  a tear at all when Oghren gets killed at Vigil's Keep . I'm more like "finally!"

But yeah, about Cumberland, its just a bit west of Kirkwall, so my guess is that perhaps we'll go there in DA2. Possibly has something to do with the Chantry crumbling= mage uprising + return of Old Gods?

Couple of news items:

1.) Ultimate edition of Origins coming in October? http://www.gamestop....roduct_id=78680

2.) Complete trash news if you're a PC fan. Can't say I'm surprised if its true, but this, this may be the dealbreaker:
http://social.biowar...index/4376174/1

Seriously- thanks BioWare, you've admitted your market is the Bro console crowd. Adios, muchacho.

They need to consider there is still a market for pc's the consoles will change but ppl will always have pc's so they would be screwing them selves over in the long run,

If #2's points are both confirmed; I'm officially done with DA:2 until it is like 29.99$ on steam I may buy it.

Seriously, any companion BUT Oghren would have been fantastic. Shale, Zev, Leliana, Dog, Alistair, Loghain, Morrigan, Wynne- anyone would have been better than Oghren.

My thinking is that the reason they picked Oghren though was that while possible to kill him off, it took quite a bit of effort to do so. I mean, basically, the only 2 un-killable companions were Morrigan and Oghren.

And don't forget that Oghren is a non-Li. If you bring back one, you most certainly have the fans of the three others crying out why: "why not our love". That already happened with the Leliana dlc, but they were able to keep it civil by that "prequel" approach, as their was no kind of love continuance. But giving the fans of just one Li continuance and neglect the others.. oh boy, talk about hell breaking loose.

I agree that Morrigan has the most potential for continuance, and as a fan from day one, i wouldn't mind at all. But that arguments would fall to deaf ears to the many haters, and BW has to keep in mind the mood of the whole fanbase. Even if it appears, given the recent developments, they give a damn about the whole fanbase ;)

On a different note, my all-favorite fanfiction of DA:A is where the author killed Oghren throughout the joining and let Mhairi survive. That alone would have made Awakening worth playing.

Seriously, if the news on the PC version is true, I won't support BioWare financially. Their path is set if they think the PC players will just gobble up console regurgitation as being something that utilizes the strengths of the PC as a platform.

Its like Activision touting the PC version of MW2 as being built for the PC, since you could, you know, use a keyboard and mouse...wahoo...>:(

Yeah.. I would actually say taking out the toolset for a game like DA:O is just as harmful to the PC crowd as taking the dedicated servers out of MW2. We know how that turned out the game flopped horribly on PC, but since it broke records on the 360 all is well,..

This could all be a miss communication tho from the 3rd party website, which is a reason why most companies keep future releases quiet so chiniese whispers dont happen

No toolset means no way I'm purchasing this thing (no matter how good) at full price. The first game was a freaking mess, only with mods was in playable and passable as a modern gen game. Taking the toolset out is a MASSIVE mistake, I have nothing positive to say about this "game" anymore.

So once again EA kills another company.
Seriously I give up, EA can have bioware I am going back to Bethesda, while they can nut up some stuff overall they know how to make a good game, EA and Bioware DONT.

I may give Dragon Age 2 a chance but if its as much as a sell out as ME2 was, then I will finish that one Playthrough then return it. Gaider and Laidlaw are now just puppets who say whatever the EA puppeters want. But hey there is always Origins to play again.

No toolset or Tactical view = one big middle finger

edit: All of us are apparently the fans that are getting lost in the new shift, and this is the new fans that Gaider loves, and wants to bring in:

Its just freaking insulting and borderline deceitful to say how the PC version won't change much and then come out and use a bird brained excuse to justify cutting 2 of the biggest features the PC had exclusive.

Seriously, I love BioWare games for their stories- they do that better than most. But I refuse to support them when they're lying through their teeth saying that the PC version of DA2 won't be gimped and that its staying the same as Origins. At most I'll pick up DA2 as a dirt cheap Steam sale for $5- maybe by that time it'll have the bugs ironed out since no modders will be able to fix it up now.

I don't know if its just their horrible marketing or what. I'll just say that right now BioWare is so full of **** that their eyes are brown....<_<

Well this goes against everything we've been told about the PC version. I dislike being lied to. And I feel ashamed of being a console player right now.

The excuse doesn't even make sense! The top down view doesn't use any new textures at all, in fact It barely even switches from the lod_1 to lod_2 textures most of the time. All models have 3 sets of meshes and textures 1 being the highest resolution and highest poly for when you're very close to something and 2 and 3 when you're farther away and won't notice the drop in quality.  Top down view just uses lod_1 textures so what the hell are they talking about needing to make new textures for this camera style that apparently nobody uses but they used as a selling point for their PC version.

Secondly and forgive me if I get a bit angry here, THEY OWN AND BUILT THE FRACKING ENGINE THEMSELVES why in the god's name would they NOT be able to give out the toolset. Bethesda Softworks Licenced the GameBryo engine and then developed and licenced a slightly stripped down construction set for the mod community, and BioWare can do it for next to nothing but apparently it's too expensive. Bethesda lost money on their construction set but look how much it has payed them back in other areas, on the PC you can still play Oblivion and it looks just fine for 2010 even though it came out over 4 years ago. The community has been waiting for 4 years and are chomping at the bit for a new one ready to preorder as soon as the announcement is made, meanwhile the old game is drowning in thousands of manhours of user created content. There is only one reason BioWare is refusing to release a toolset for DA2 it's a concerted effort to destroy the mod community so that they can release subpar DLC packs with no competition. They can't be bothered to actually compete and make something like Knights of the Nine so the only option left is just to eliminate the competition and force everyone to buy their subpar garbage. This is so blatant and so disgusting that I can't believe they have the audacity to claim that the real reason is that it would be too expensive to implement. Go to Hell and I've got a great place for you to stick this game while you're at it.

Word.

Yeah, its BS. Well, all I can say is that BioWarEA is doing a mighty fine job of making me not want to touch any of their products! Hope the Bros give you all the success and money you crave, BioWarEA.<_<

Edit: This made me chuckle in the aforementioned thread:

"When the developers of Bioware entered the console market, they
offended the player base, and instead brought corruption to the
franchise. They were cast out, transformed into the hideous monsters
known as generic fantasy action game peons of EA, and forced to flee the
light of traditional RPGs, retreating into the 360."

You know, it now makes sense why Bioware is/was exploring the idea of using saved games from a different platform on an other different platform. They want the PC gamers to buy the console version and to placate their anger, make it so their Origins play through was "not for nothing". For the record, a PC Origins play through is worth nothing now anyway.

All big companies want to destroy the PC market because they don't like what it represents, which is consumer choice and customization. They want total control over all aspects of the end user experience so they can financially bleed them dry, the PC is the most resistant to that trend because there is no single platform holder. If the big publishers can succeed in killing the PC market their total domination will be complete, these subpar console ports are just part of the process. They want the market for themselves so they can run it into the ground and destroy it, competition is an annoyance that gets in the way of obscene profits.

BioWare is EA and they are the enemy.

Not all hope is lost in PC markets, Bethesda loves fan mods and participates in them a lot.

However EA cant stand modders since they provide an alternate source to people, than their offical DLC. Anything that takes so much as a cent from their bottom line is a foe to them.

Sad to see it come to this, however with Shogun 2 coming Bioware cant compete with Hawke and Mass Effect with Swards.

What a perfect reason to delay her return to DA 2 :D

I love your guys anger, i had given up hope about this so called sequel a while ago. The fact that Laidlaw who denied just one week ago that DA 2 was developed with consoles in mind but told the people the game would be developed for all platforms alike is now telling consoles are the leading platform because they have the bigger market share

Lying is certainly an interesting way to deal with your customers :alien:

It's the perfect solution, give us morrigan back and we will be happy playing da:o and not have to worry about da2 :P
