Considering the Blur trailers for SWTOR recently, my money is on a Blur trailer for DA2. It might give us a hint at possible party members, whatever the enemy is going to be, and maybe some locations. But I wouldn't bet on any gameplay.

And that would go for the Warden or a new PC.
As for DA2, while it's still on life support for me, I'm still waiting for more on the story itself before making the final call. And yeah, I'm not betting that the trailer will blow any of the DA "base" away - it'll probably blow away people with short attention spans who are easily wowed by booms and babes.

And what is this about Hawke being set to one version only?
No Charachter Creator?
Please tell me this was just my friend trolling me on facebook.

On a more serious note, didnt Laidlaw just say they wont release a new toolset, since DA2 is just using an updated and tweaked toolset this time round?
Hope they release one because the mods to date I have gotten have been great.
In fallout 3 for example I got a mod that added a whole new station, thousands of songs, and tweaked some problems in VATS.

First I've heard of it, but I wouldn't be surprised. It might not be a bad thing (it'll make things easier in terms of depictions in hard media, and might make a transition to an NPC in a future installment a bit smoother). Having Hawke be more defined can certainly make things easier in an editorial sense -- the Warden would at best make a passing mention in a novel or comic.

I have a feeling I'm going to need mods for DA2. Most of them would be visual, but I might stick a few content mods in there...

I can stand Hawke only being human, or having a voice, but if we were to be unable to change his appearance than I wont buy it.

You could just use the toolset to customize his appearance.
Oh wait....

Yeah they really took anything slightly redeeming about Oghren and flushed it down the toilet in Awakening he's just a drunken immature wretch with no character, no backbone and no point. He was comic relief in Origins but still managed to function like a slightly believable character in Awakening they threw everything away and frankly might as well dressed him up like a circus clown because that's all he was. Only the best part was his approval was bugged so he never came to like The Warden again dispite everything you did for him in Origins. Also you couldn't joke with him at all and he disapproved of almost everything you did, what a way to destroy a character BioWare. By the end of Awakening I wanted Oghren to be executed, I hated him when I didn't before.
They made Oghren Jar Jar Binks. It is concerning though how they handled him as a returning companion, considering that he was a good friend of my Warden in Origins and yet come Awakening, you try and joke with him and its like Oghren Disapproves -100. Seriously, people complain about Morrigan disapproving in Origins, Oghren in Awakening was waaaaay more fickle.
But yeah, BioWare totally destroyed him as a character and I make an effort to let him die at Vigil's Keep in the hope he never shows up in another BioWare game EVER again. (boy that sounded harsh=])

No, there is still going to be a character creator. The only recent bas news is the no toolset update until maybe sometime after DA2 launches and the nerfing of the isometric view.
Man, if the debut trailer is some Marilyn Manson piece of XTREME! Bro marketing I think the forums might literally explode. I'm hoping for a good trailer to revitalize my interest, but if DA2 is going to spit on its heritage in Origins, well, I hope it does terribly- just so that BioWare hopefully gets the message. Of course that would likely mean EA pulling the plug or making DA even more Bro-tastic.

Oh, but the cruel irony is that the toolset won't work with DA2 at launch! At best, like Laidlaw said, they're currently investigating what it would take to update the current toolset to work with DA2.
Here is his full quote just for reference, since that thread got locked down- mind you, he says an awful lot without saying very much:
Mike Laidlaw wrote...
Hey folks,
Victor managed to hunt me down, and I wanted to clear up a few things with regards to what I'm seeing as the two major concerns on this thread.
First off, let's talk about the toolset issue. Obviously in this community there's going to be some concern that we wouldn't release a toolset, so let me clear the air a little: The tools we're using to make Dragon Age 2 are very, very close to the tools you guys have used to make your mods for DA:O. They're not identical, as we've made a few in-house improvements, but they're almost identical. As such, there isn't a new toolset to release, per se.
While we won't be releasing a toolset update in tandem with Dragon Age 2, we ARE investigating what it would take to update the community toolset to match ours, along with providing DA2 content in the future.
As to the subject of tactical view, I can confirm that we will not be doing a tactical view on consoles, though we are looking into some expanded party control that I think will make console players quite happy.
On the PC, however, we are still working with the camera to keep the key elements of the tactical experience there. I was actually playtesting some new camera code when Victor found me, in fact, so I can give you the latest news on that front.
While we likely won't pull as far up as we did in DA:O, I have always felt that the key to tactical play was actually freeing your camera from the character you're controlling to issue precise orders, which is what we're tuning now. So, this means you can still maneuver the camera around the battlefield and issue orders from a remote location, just as you could in Origins.
As you can probably tell from my phrasing, all of this is a bit in-flux right now, so things may change between now and ship, but I wanted to update you guys on the current direction of things.
Mike..

Anyone want to bet how long it'll take for the modders to give us the option of making Hawke an elf or a dwarf?
I can see that being one of the first mods made.

I've been away for a while and yet more disappointments have surfaced it seems. Until recently, I was pretty sure that I would be getting DA2 but tbh every new bit of info that leaks out succeeds only in further destroying my interest in the series. I've been drifting back to jrpgs of late which are at the very least consistent, some of the more niche (and commercially unsuccessful) titles I've played of late have actually been pretty decent (no DR-esque bs) and I think I've been giving bioware too much credit of late.Brockololly wrote...

re: lack of a toolset for DA2, didn't surprise me one bit (they've hardly been forthcoming with updates to the existing toolset after all) - I fully expected this to be the case, seems to me EA is pushing in one direction (and user-created content that surpasses in-house efforts certainly isn't one of them) and since they have the final say in all matters that's that really.
Brockololly wrote...
I'd prefer an expansion pack that deals with Morrigan but so long as the DLC is written by Gaider and isn't full of terrible out of character moments like RtO or just feels cheap like DC, then I'll be happy I guess...
Methinks your expectations are a tad high Brock... In all honesty something that just kills off the both of them is likely preferable in light of the recent change of direction DA is taking, thus making it easier for fans to transition toward other
titles.
iirc they said the same of DA:O. Microsoft will never allow it, period, so its a waste of effort.Brockololly wrote...
I believe they've said they are also investigating the ability to put user created mods on the console... yeah right.

I had completely forgotten there was a trailer coming up, and in such a short period of time even. Does that answer your question
Back to kotor, i still love this game, back at a time when roleplaying was still roleplaying. Tattooine (or however that damn hot thing is written), here i come:wizard:
Oh yeah, the trailer. Well, if its good it will give us something to look forward too. I have fantasies of a Morri voice-over by Claudia Black or a split second Morri sighting...

That would be a kick to the groin. The garbage that DA2 is turning into for PC gamers and to blatantly flaunt Morrigan in the trailer in a "You will not know what happens with her unless you buy the game" fashion. Gah, that sounds like something Bioware would do.Jarlof Seoul wrote...
