Just completed awakening and guess what caption i saw,
"Some claimed the commander headed west into Orlais, chasing after the dark-haired sorceress who had fought alongside him during the blight, whether he found her or not, he certainly did not return to Vigil's Keep."
You know who they are talking about

But perusing the internet today, its nice to see the No toolset and no Iso view story getting circulated. It still really pisses me off but when even Game Informer feels duped, well there you go- quote from the Game Informer article on the PC version getting gimped:
Seriously you gotta love BioWare and their marketing strategy. I'd take a bet 5 years from now, every business college book about marketing and consumer relations will have a special chapter: "BioWare- or it should NEVER NEVER Ever be done"
Some of my favorite quotes:
www.computerandvideogames.com wrote...
In an interview with French magazine
Joystick, lead designer Mike Laidlaw revealed that development of the
sequel to BioWare's hit RPG would be more console-focused.
Bioware co-founder Dr. Greg Zeschuk recently said that 'consoles are the past', and encouraged studios to branch out, these changes indicate a conflicting attitude.
gameinformer.com wrote...
When we visited BioWare for our cover story, we were assured that PC
players would benefit from the console version’s upgrades, though they’d
still be able to enjoy the same tactical gameplay and presentation from
Origins (similar to the classic Baldur’s Gate) if they preferred it.
According to a post on BioWare’s forums, that seems to have changed.
That clears things up—to a point. It seems BioWare itself is still
tweaking the camera, but it won’t be the same as before. That’s
contradictory to what we were told on our visit. We’ve contacted EA and
BioWare to get further elaboration on the news, and we’ll provide
updated information as soon as it’s made available.

That said, the accusations that Dragon Age 2 is catchin' the fever aren't completely false.
So, yeah. Take his advice, fellow PC gamers, and wait on a few more details. As a player who liked to zoom out to, y'know, do stuff, and also used many, many mods, I certainly hope they're they're listening.
Seriously BioWare, can it get more embarassing.
Yeas it can, take a look at Maiks post:

so, we gotta believe the community manager had to track down the Lead Designer. They might even send out a search party. Ever heard of mail, phones or mobiles. They did some quick brainstorming how to calm down the storm in the forums, and came up with that and used that lazy excuse to explain the delay in response. Thats the definiton if being ridiculous, trying, trying to take your customers for a fool.
so, we gotta believe the community manager had to track down the Lead Designer. Maybe they made a search party and ventured into the wilds of BioWare headquarter. That would explain a lot about the recent "mistakes" of BioWare if the leadership of the company is handled that way.

Great idea BW, lying about certain changes (after comic con, troughly a week back, Laidlaw said DA 2 would not be designed with consoles in mind, but all were treated the same, and now he says the opposite and argues BW is going for the money) and then taking your customers for a fool and sell them the most stupid explanation possible.
Just be careful those very same fans won't be going for the money as well and spent it elsewehre

To be fair to Laidlaw, he never actually said that they were leading on the consoles. He said they were making everything "simultaneously"...It was just another hand waving PR stunt that people figured just because the developer responded everything is a-ok. When in fact he really said nothing at all, just like a couple days ago:

Since there seems to be some concernabout lead platform, I can dispel a myth for you: it's not actually that hard to develop on all three platforms once you have an engine that actually works on all three platforms. It's just a matter of ensuring the bug fixes and optimizations work on all three, and then generating assets that are both scaleable (as in they can move to be optimized across all three platforms) and functional.
And since we already HAVE an engine that works on PS3, PC and 360, we can, in fact, develop on all three. Dragon Age II is "built," tested and run every day on all three.
Notice how no where in that post does he dispel the "myth" that the consoles are the lead platform for DA2? This stuff just boggles the mind....

alright, my bad. So he just used some hollow phrases to create the impression its not. Whcih to me, is still lying, as he looking to generate that very same while knowing that this would not be true as consoles were the leading platform. If i did something and instead of outright saying no i didn't but every kind of persuasion i have to make you believe i didn't do it, thats still lying to me. But anyway, thats nitpicking.
What you can say is thats a stupid move. The community is worried consoles are the leading platform, and you calm the by giving the impression thats not the case while knowing the truth will be revealed very soon anyway. He gave that da*n interview that spoiled the news for heavens sake. *shakes head* Thats just so poor it makes me laugh i can't hold back the tears

So they ARE taking the toolset out and ****ing up the camera view? Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse. I really hope this serves as a lesson to Bio: change is good, but too much too soon will always end up biting you in some form or another. I still don't get it. Why make all of these changes? WHY???? It worked perfectly fine in the first game.
On another note, who has two thumbs and is excited for the lame dungeon crawler on tomorrow? THIS GUY!!!! What? Can you really blame me? Seeing the Warden in action again is going to be a sight for sore eyes.

Well, they're just not going to update the toolset anytime soon after DA2 is released. So it won't work with DA2 but it'll still work with Origins. DOesn't do any good to help fix up the inevitable bugs and problems that'll arise in DA2 though...
And they're getting rid of the zoomed out isometric view on the PC, but maybe supposedly working on one thats zoomed in but still able to move around freely- which is entirely missing the point, as a free roaming camera doesn't matter if you can't see what the hell you're doing in the first place!

See, I actually was thinking about getting the DLC tomorrow, but after the great big middle finger BioWare gave to PC gamers, I'll gladly pass. PC gamers aren't the "audience" for DA anymore so , yeah- at this rate I'll take the Morrigan DLC or whatever and say adios if BioWare can't be bothered to make an effort on at the minimum retaining features for the PC version of DA2.
Angry rant incoming! Batten down the hatches!
The whole thing bothers me a great deal, obviously, but as I mentioned before its this quote that just really makes me not want to bother with anything BioWare:
"Now, the game mainly sold on console, so we're going the way of the audience."
Here is the thing. I have no problem if BioWare makes console games first. Thats fine, they can do whatever they want to make as much money as they want. They're a business, I get it. Thats cool.
But don't come down here with your PR, double talking nonsense, trying to placate people into thinking you're developing the game platform agnostically when its plain as day that the base model is being built for the consoles and you're putting a half assed effort into retaining any of the features that were in the PC version of Origins.
And then you tell Game Informer that the PC combat will stay the same, only to say a bit later that you're axing 2 of the defining features of the PC version to some French magazine! Come on, man! Either you're too early in development to be talking about the game anyway or this is all a terrible hack job of marketing and PR.
But to that quote- its just indicitive of where DA seems to be going as a franchise and where BioWarEA seems to be going as a company. PC gamers be damned- so what if the PC version of Origins had better reviews than the consoles, who cares that you're judging sales from one platform (PC) versus 2 (360+PS3)- the game sold more on the consoles so that must be where the "audience" is, right? Forget trying to add more tactical combat to the console version- lets "amp up" and infect the PC version with the inferior hack and slash "in your face" action of the poorer reviewd console version of Origins for DA2 on PC!
Apparently, if you're a PC gamer, you're not a part of BioWare's "audience" anymore. So thanks for propping up the DA franchise for the 6+ years it was in development as a PC game, but we're cashing in our console checks, adios motherf*****s!
At this rate, I'd be happy if they just admitted they were designing DA2 for the consoles and delayed the PC version and got a capable company to port it over PROPERLY to the PC. Instead what we'll likely get is some watered down, hack job of a PC port like ME2, rushed out so that EA can max their fiscal 2011 profits. Because with the game positioned right at the end of EA's fiscal year, its a cold chance in hell the game will be delayed- its coming out whether its ready or not- EA's profits demand it.
I feel like making one of those BioWare Bazaar style sigs- " I used to be part of BioWare's audience- now I'm just a PC gamer.":(
Anyway, so, how about that Morrigan!?

What are the odds you think Morrigan will show up in some fashion in the trailer next week? I can see it now- they'll have a scene with Hawke making out wih Morrigan- surprise!
