I doubt, however, that they'll let her be killed.

They would just pull another Flemeth.  Heck, they retcon'd the Origins ending by having Morrigan in the Kokari Wilds.

Hmmm... I really really hope for a HAPPY ending with Morrigan. But I am concerned it will be yet another bittersweet deal that simply gives us some answers and closure.

Or they could have something happen to Morrigan while in search of whatever Elven MacGuffin she is looking for. Like "Oh, its not really Morrigan- tada! Its Flemeth !" Or "Oh hey Warden, you know why I can't be with you? Its cause I'm really a dragon!" With answers comes the possibility of shock and disappointment I'm afraid.

Only a year after seperation? Meeh. This DLC can be what all of us are waiting for, or can turn out tobe a disaster. It will make or break the entire thing. If it breaks it, I am positive that I will be un-enthusiastic about DA2.

Absolutely, KoP. How this DLC shapes up will really color how I view DA and BioWare going forward.

Edit: Woohoo! 300 pages! Quick make a "Fight like  a Spartan!" joke!:wizard:

WOT when did they say DA2 was only 20-30 hours???
so it's about 2 hours playtime for every year minus cut scenes?

No, it's like we thought it would be. It's not 10 years of persistent playthrough, but just '5 years later' bump-gaps between chapters.

Anyways, more Morrigan does make me happy, don't get me wrong. It's obviously a move to placate a very vocal, upset portion of the fanbase with a million questions in hand, so I doubt they'd 'kick us in the nuts again' as you said just to watch the fanbase riot.

Thats most probably the best argument of all to believe that this dlc won't turn out to be just another gotcha moment.

It clearly seems to be done to please and shut up the constant outcries. Obviously, another DR/Origin like ending would fail in doing just that.

Well this is interesting ;D At least its a 540 point dlc and not a 400 one, that would have set off alarmbells of epic proportions ^^

Well all good things come to an end, and i guess a week or two after this dlc's release this group is no more :( Unless of course we go into a fanfiction and fanart rage, or we get to curse the writing team for a few weeks longer :D

i am still hopefull Morrigan will be in DA2....
since
1 i don't think Morrigan will die in this dlc(the warden might die in the end or soon after this DLC)
2 heck they already put her in My Simms
3 they are not killing the chicken with the golden eggs:whistle:

The irony is rich in this.

This page needs some Morri!

yes, i figured that it would be something like that, seems highly unlikely they will cover every year as gameplay

so no one knows if it will be anywhere near DA:O playtime?

I'm debating whether I should blaze through my half completed Cousland playthrough I've been neglecting for a while now....

How do we think the import process will work? Just thinking that if it is botched, could we possibly import a specific save game where the flags are set properly?

No, it's going to be about half of Origins (like they warned when speaking out vs voice acted PCs!)

And yes, Morri pictures. If only I had a MorrixMage picture somewhere on my HD to post, if only.

Congratulations to all for 300 pages...and we'll see about this whole Morrigan DLC thing. Forgive me if I remain skeptical. Too many disappointments to believe it will be made all better in an hour and half.

But what are the proper flags. I have one Cousland ready to go into Awakening. He got the ring epilogue, so he is at friendly.

I have no besides him, so i either have to relad a very early save and redo Flemeth quest to get that mod to work or start a completely new run.

I could off course load a pre-battle save and simply refuse talking to her, ignoring the ring epilogue slide but still be at love.

The important question now is: what does matter:

!. is it important to be at love or friendly?

2. It it important to get that epilogue slide or not?

3. IS it necessary to have both of them?

4. or don't you need any of them. Any kind of clarification would be really appreciated.

I can't say i would be looking forward to do just another playthrough just to avoid a bug BW had no intention to fix to enjoy that 7 bucks dlc the way it was meant to be.

Edit: isn't there someone out there from BioWare who might be able to answer that question?

@MoSa: See I'm not sure what the problem was exactly in Awakening. Probably Blademaster or Terra_Ex would be more knowledgable on the flags, but from what I remeember, there was one flag or something called "still in love" which nobody knew what it was for... And then I can't remember if the flags themselves are fine in Origins or if its Awakening that butchered reading the flags...

Question on Terra's mod: If we uninstall the mod in an active playthrough would that just revert everything to Origins vanilla as far as flags go with MOrrigan's romance? I'm wondering who in BioWare we could PM to figure out if Terra's mod is ok flag wise as far as how Witch Hunt will work...

General rule when it comes to importing is: As long as Morrigan is flagged as "love" you're safe.

So, any save after the DR where you didn't talk to Morrigan after she gave you her farewell speech at the gates should work properly when imported.

For Awakening, as long as you got the epilogue about the Warden leaving to search for Morrigan everything should be fine.

I am wondering this as well. The thing is, i don't have the time to replay Origins in all possible combinations, just to be on the safe side and to enjoy the dlc how it was meant to be for Morrimancers. Thats why it would be nice if someone from BioWare at best could clarify what is important and what is not.

Its quite easy to stay in love, just refuse talking to her afterwards. But then you also miss that ring epilogue slide. And while i won't miss that as i already know it, the question thats bugging me is that if that question/ring slide also triggers something that is important to complete Witch Hunt the way i want.

I know Gaider said its probably a coding issue, but those guys are not hanging around here answering questions. I have no idea, and i'll go nuts if i play this dlc only to realize in the end that it was futile cause my saves were messed up and i didn't get that ending i was supposed to get. I just have no idea whom to ask that, and even more important, who would respond and say something more than "none of my business".

you sure about that? I have a save right before the Dark Ritual, so i could qiete easily recreate an Origin save where she is still at love while missing out the ring/thinking-about-you epilogue slide

Yes, I'm sure.

What causes the problem with flags is when you talk to her after her farewell speech. That drops your aproval from "love" to "friendly" and the game thinks you never romanced Morrigan.

So, as long as you avoid talking to her at any point between farewel speech and the fight with the Archdemon you should be safe.

What made me wonder is that only that second talk initiates the ring slide, so i was wondering if that was of any importance as well.

But thanks Shiori, i could easily recreate that in a few hours and have to saves ready to go and see what happens.

From the Witch Hunt announcement thread- Gaider sticking up for Morrigan romancing Wardens not getting any closure!? WHAT!?:o

David Gaider wrote...

It just feels like this is the conclusion the story of men who romanced Morrigan.

Consider this:

If you're looking on this only from the romance perspective, out of all  the romances in Dragon Age Morrigan's is the only one you never get any personal closure on. Not even a little bit. I understand wanting more from Alistair, Zevran and Leliana but you do at least get something from them... whereas from Morrigan you get nothing (albeit for very good reasons).

So for those men who romanced Morrigan, you might want to cut them some slack.

That said, that's not the only reason to do this DLC-- I would think many  people would be curious as to what the future holds regarding Morrigan.  And, yes, it takes all the various ending states of Origins into  account. And, yes, in case anyone's wondering I wrote the Morrigan  part.

Words cannot express how happy this post made me.  Sept 7th can't get here soon enough!

So if we're playing with Terra's mod we should be ok, you think?

I was thinking of maybe PM'ing Melo to ask if maybe a tech person could check Terra's mod to see if it conflicts with anything in Witch Hunt...
