That's a total Gaider twist there

I've played the mage origin enough times to recognize it anywhere. That's it alrightIs it me or does the 1st screen look almost identical to the phylactery room from the Mage's tower? Is that just another case of recycled environment? I really hope this isn't some dungeon crawl DLC with a 5 minute Morrigan cutscene at the end- that would ****** me off.
So either we take a trip to the mage's tower or they're just blatantly recycling environments again. NOw it would be a good deal more interesting if we actually did some travelling in this DLC- maybe it will be the greatest $7 DLC ever?
I've got to dampen those hopes, lest I be horribly disappointed....
Take a good look at the locations in those screenshots and pay attention to all the monsters there.
It's obvious this will be more like Leliana's Song where you have several different location (albeit small ones) then one big place like in Golems of Angarrak.

Huh, just had a thought. How amusing would it be if one of the twists is that that's not actually your Mabari Hound, what if it's Morrigan shapeshifted into the form.

Then what happened to the real dog?

Pray not. There were so many bugs in Codex that well probably get the opposite of what really happens.Aphetto_LC wrote...
I am getting a sinking feeling that the DLC will be a dungeon crawl and you will not meet Morrigan until the end. A few lines, and poof, DLC over. Instead of Morrigan answering questions, Bioware will use codex to explain everything.

I mean Morrigan IS a shapeshifter, she's also able to pass undetected in human lands without raising alarm (which she states earlier in the game) I think she let herself be known so the Warden would come try and find her, then take the form of his Mabari to keep an eye on him. Maybe she needed his help to recover something but didn't want him to be aware she was there.
All conjecture and speculation really, most of it nonsensical and inane

Then again it's only $7 (£5) and I have a feeling that it's going to be very low budget...

Is it me, or does the background look like Ostagar?

This looks like the ruins from the beginning of the Dalish Origin...and the other one is definitely from the Mage origin.

Looks more like the Dragonbone Wastes than Ostagar to me. It might play Ostagar in the story, though.
I thought it was one of the two, Dragonbone Wastes is probably a more accurate guess...
By the way, is anyone really bored with the first revealed companion?
"Ariane is a gifted Dalish warrior, and her clan's best hunter. When an ancient artifact belonging to the clan's Keeper is stolen, one with a history tied to the very roots of the elven people, Ariane is charged with the task of reclaiming it. She is determined to carry out her solemn duty, and when her task turns out to intersect with the Warden's quest to find Morrigan she realizes that there may be far more to the artifact's disappearance than simple theft."
She sounds pretty boring and mundane. Nothing special about her or her story, typical Dalish elf on a quest..the only thing that grabs me is the fact that Morrigan stole the artifact..
Edit: She looks like that Warden at the beginning of Awakening, the one who dies at her Joining. Here is the picture from the Bioware site:

And again, I'm wondering if the recycled areas we're seeing in the screens are supposed to be different areas or maybe we really do travel to a bunch of familiar places- after all, didn't Melo say in the Gamescom chat or one those interviews that in the next DLC we'd be visiting some familiar places? So that probably includes the Korcari Wilds in addition to maybe the Dragon Bone Wastes or Mage's Tower? Only thing is that those locales are rather spread out...

Of my many concerns with this DLC is that we just end up learning about Morrigan's secrets not by conversing with Morrigan but by going through most of the DLC looking for clues and picking up codex entries. Now some detective stuff is awesome, but the focus should be on Morrigan. I just hate to see it done with 2 redshirt disposable companions. It just makes it feel so cheap. It would be so much more meaningful to be able to close out Morrigan and the Warden's storyline with some of the older companions (besides Dog) there with your PC.

First off, are we sure that's the same dog from Origins? (I may have missed that announcement, sorry.) It could be a companion's dog, or it could be a summoned creature, kinda like Snug.
I'm thinking that some of the locations are going to be the same places that they were in Origins, and others will probably be recycled locations being used as makeshift landmarks.
As for the companions, I think they're going to be as developed as the Dace brothers. Maybe we'll get more dialog with them, but I doubt it. They're probably going to spend more time adding attacking power than adding to the plot. I agree that it should have been done with familiar companions given some of the epilogue outcomes (I'll take Alistair and Sigrun over Ariane and that mage [assuming they didn't use a Mage Warden]).
If it's by codex entries from clues, we're almost definitely going to be in for a one-size experience and ending, and if we're lucky, a mention or two if you romanced her or did the DR. ... but then again, they have DA2 to start setting up, so that one-size ending is probably going to be mandatory so they have a much easier time working things into that.
I can only hope that BioWare mailed it in on GOA because most of their efforts were spent developing WH. But with GOA and DA2, my expectations are low and my worries are high...

After reloading an older mage save, i'd say it is the very same room. And given they only show fights, fights and even more fights, it seems BW still believes the major selling point of Origins was combat.
edit: ah, nevermind me, i was way too late with that.

The title of DLC being Witch Hunt we probably won´t see Morrigan till late. Agree about all screenshots being combat ones. Who are they trying to sell the DLC to? We already know about combat, what I care about this is story. And why do all ME2 DLCs have new scenery and all DA recycled ones?MoSa09 wrote...

thats my biggest question of it. Think of ME 2 what you will, the dlc has always been fun, entertaining ands while not adding to the general story, provided a nice little story in itself. DA dlc on the other hand...
Its amazing they can't give them a call or walk over to their office and say "hey ME 2 guys, your dlc has been awesome and ours has been constant crap, any ideas or recommendations of what we can do better?"

They haven't mentioned if its Dog from Origins or not. But seriously, if its just some other random Mabari, I'd smack BioWare in the head- Dog has to be about the easiest companion to toss back in the game. There was no reason why he wasn't there in Awakening and he is far superior to some other random bloke.

I agree.
I'm reminded of this episode of GTTV where they interviewed Ray and Greg about DA and how EA had that untitled DA game listed for a bit (DA2) and how they had something far reaching for ME2(PS3) coming. At the 17:00 mark, they start talking about DA and Ray mentions how they've got Awakening, what we now know is DA2 and "another one beyond that." Tin foil hat time! I'm wondering if maybe Witch Hunt was supposed to be part of a full expansion pack and due to how DA2 was going along, they hacked it down into its present DLC form? Or is BioWare already working on an ex-pack for DA2? Ugh.
I hope Witch Hunt is amazingly awesome, but I'm skeptical as hell right now.

Sad but true. We'll likely spend most of the time "hunting" for Morrigan with our 2 new herp derp companions, only to "confront" Morrigan at the very end in some boss fight where she'll shapeshift into a dragon or something. Mark it down. Once we've "confronted" Morrigan, she'll be weakened and then we'll have a couple lines of dialogue to get some wishy washy answers. At which point we;ll have the option to kill Morrigan, let her run off, or help her out. Fade to black.
Have I mentioned, I hope BioWare doesn't f*** this DLC up?

If your intention was to lower yours and everyone's expectations of the game, you've achieved it. Now if the game ends up like this I can say "Well can't say I was surprised" and if it turns out to be the dream we all want to be we can have a nice ol' celebration about it
Also I will be incredibly annoyed if we don't get any answers through the dlc other than the ones we ask Morrigan at the end..<_<

Mr. Gaider is the writer. Only go after him if he screws up the story, which so far he hasn´t (changing main character in 2 if his idea is an odd choice, but let´s see how it plays). Scenery goes to others.MortalEngines wrote...

I also think DA2 swept away another expansion from Origins. What´s the hurry? All that eagerness to sell DA2 has backfired a lot so far.
