@Brock: I do not see Morrigan's expression in her head-turn as evil/ diabolical. She looks sad to me.

Also, do I understand correctly that she says "temptation is in the forbidden" and then "do not follow me, as I said", meaning she forbade the Warden to follow her precisely because she wanted him to? Or is that the romantic in me talking?

You miht watch the trailer. The screenshot might leave the impression its sadness, in the moving pictures its not. It just looks like "Muuahhahahaha" in the trailer.

And the latter one of your ideas: heartwarming. Maybe she is somewhat testing you, if you really stand true by her site and there is more to your love than just talk?

I do wonder if we'll actually be in the Dragonbone Wastes, since the last few DLCs have had a tendency to re-use areas. And GoA reused areas as completely different areas (it is the Deep Roads, though, so it can almost be excused). It could just be another Tevinter Ruin. I admit that I'd wonder where the Strider/s were when I fought the Mother otherwise.

I'm guessing so.  Leliana's Song and the golem DLC used Awakening scenery.  And it would make sense here, since Dragonbone Wastes is full of Tevinter magical treasures.  I suppose it's no accident the darkspawn used it as a breeding ground.  Going home to your Tevinter mama.

Ok, I'm at work so I can watch it but have no sound.  Will check out the full impression later.

I always thought Morrigan was saying "don't follow me" but really wanting the Warden to follow her.  The way I see it is, she knows that leaving the Warden behind is what she should do, but there's this huge conflict that has arisen and her way to deal with it is to seem to be ****y/ pragmatic all the while leaving him a bread crumb trail and hoping he follows.

I like the location being Drake's Fall, it's a Tevinter archeological heaven. But it makes little sense to go there before Awakening....unless the Mother moved there a short time before the expansion.

But Duncan says the mirrors are communication devices. Communicate with
who? THE OLD GODS. I'm just getting a very Lord of the RIngs Palantir
vibe from the mirrors. My guess is that the Tevinter mages put them all
around Thedas and were able to communicate with the Old Gods through
them.
Yet this particluar one was tied to Urthemiel, so when Urthemiel
was tainted, so was the mirror. And since the mirror draws the darkspawn
to it, it seems plausible that thats another reason why the Old Gods
communicated through the mirrors.

I think it's more likely that they allowed the Tevinter Magisters to communicate with each other over long distances.

The real question here is whether the mirrors were made by Tevinter mages or are they elven artifacts that the Tevinter stole after destroying Arlathan?

How the mirrors became tainted is something of a mistery. Maybe we'll learn more about them from Finn and Morrigan.

Witch Hunt takes place after Awakening. the Mother (provided that is indeed Drake's Fall and not some other place that uses the same location) would have been long dead by the time the Warden goes back there.

Your idea has some appeal i think.

1. She gave you the ring, and she knew or suspected it could be used to track her down. If she wanted to disappear nowhere to be seen again, especially not you, not exactly a very smart move.

2. I think it would fit her personality. Love is a weakness, once i am gone, the pain will go away, he will forgot me and move on. But maybe, her conflict about the new found feelings she longed her made her play that game. Come back to Ferelden, let him know and sees if he still wants to be with me. Maybe its also the foolish attempt to prove herself she can stand your presence without feeling that again, maybe its to show if after all she has done and you both hand endured, you still feel for her and that fleeting love she saw is actually not as fleeting as she thought it would be.

3. I just happen to like this idea of yours

Far-flung idea: Could Morrigan be trying to CREATE more Blights so she can free the remaining Old Gods with more Dark Rituals? IIRC some of the Awakening Epilogues allude to this. If we take the Architect into the equation, if he missed one darkspawn (I could be reading into how he disconnects the darkspawn the wrong way), there's still darkspawn that would follow the Old Gods to war. Or there could just be archdemons with no army of darkspawn backing them up... Then again, I thought that the Architect was going to make Blights worse, as intelligent darkspawn use tactics to win their battles (and as a result I killed him, limiting the intelligent darkspawn numbers)...

Yea you're right, just remembered that it takes place a year after Origins.

As for the Morigan shot.
I personally did not think she looked diabolical. In fact, she looked kind of num, which is scarier.

You make some very valid points there.

I also wondered why Morrigan would let you keep her ring if she never wanted to see you again.

I suspect we'll encounter the default Morrigan at the beginning of Witch Hunt and then slowly through conversation, crack open that hard shell to once again reach the vulnerable person inside.

Hmm, is it just me or did that description sound like Morrigan was a lobster waiting to be eaten?

This whole "all your questions answered" is giving me a bad X-Files vibe where (spoiler) they NEVER answered the questions.

I was tempted to make a lobster/morrigan facemorph, but i couldn't bring myself to do it ^_^

But thats what i am hoping for. She has been gone for a year, it would be strange if welcomes you arms wide open. She is not Leliana after all. I expect her to be her old self, probably even a bit more pissed as she told you not to follow her. To be certain, i want her to be like that.

But as time progresses, i wanna be able to break through to the woman she was before she left once again, and this time have an impact that last longer until the next ritual looming on the horizin. But  huge part of the rewarding romance in Origins was that it was you who opened her up, by your actions and what you told and her and how you treated her. This was special, and i would miss if they simply left that out.

Warden: Morrigan!! What are you doing back in Ferelden?!

Morri: I had a thought and decided I want another child.

Warde: Are you serios?!

Morrigan: Yes, I'm about to use this mirror to corrupt another Old God. Be a dear and do the ritual with me once again so you can slay it.

Warden: This has got to be a dream. More like a nightmare. I knew I shouldn't have tried Oghren's new ale...

Morrigan: 'Tis all real. Now come here. 'Tis getting cold in my tent.

I lol'd.

I think Wardens who have titles bestowed to them (especially Cousland Wardens) would want one of those children to be his heir

Addai, I only think that slow head turn seems sinister because of the whole context of the trailer, with the music (seems new?), and how odd Morrigan is delivering those lines. Claudia Black's delivery of those lines isso slow and eerily calm that its unsettling. I can see how it sort of looks sad, but again in the context of the trailer its odd, IMO.

I think KoP brought it up, but her slow turn and then the eerily calm voice over is like she is numb or dare I say possessed and not herself? I mean its almost like she is whispering those lines.

Then again, I've been thinking that maybe those 3 lines of Morrigan's in the trailer may have been spliced from different chunks of the DLC. They do that all the time in movie trailers and it often creates false impressions. The whole "tempatation lies in the forbidden" could be referencing love with the Warden for all we know.

I understand that- she has been away for a year and doing who knows what, so of course she'll have changed a bit. But we do know through the ring that she at one point fely sorrow and regret for the romanced Warden. I'm just worried we get a ME2 Liara situation. The problem as I see it is that this is only a DLC, so we won't have the whole course of a game to break through Morrigan's shell all over again. And I'd hate it if we end up getting stuck with some one size fits all Morrigan.....especially if its for Plot Hammer related reasons.:(

I'll have my second part up a bit later tonight in maybe an hour or 2.:wizard:
