The Mirror, Part ][
Tamlen does have some other lines regarding the mirror when he is getting sucked in:
Its showing me places. I can see some kind of city underground and there is a great blackness. It saw me! Help! I can't look away!
Now was he referring to the Deep Roads and seeing the Archdemon? I just get a very LotR vibe with the palantirs and the Eye of Sauron seeing through them and all. Or was Tamlen seeing into the Fade and the Black City? Or perhaps he was seeing deep into the Arlathan? Remember, Arlathan was supposedly sunken into the earth by the Tevinter blood mages. Maybe the sunken Arlathan is essentially the worldly equivalent of the Black City?
So it seems at least that the Elven MacGuffin is the Tevinter Mirror. We know from Duncanthey are communication devices of some sort and that they can become tainted. The fact that Morrigan goes to what was only recently darkspawn central to mess with that mirror has me worried that she'll end up getting Taint blasted and we end up with twisted darkspawn Blighted Morrigan. I know thats probably far fetched, but you never know with Gaider.

Concerning Morrigan...
So as for Morrigan's role in this DLC and her fate? I'm clueless. It really could be any number of things- far too many to count. Gaider said that closure was the key for this DLC. You've got this quote from him on the Witch Hunt main thread:
David Gaider wrote...
Consider this:
If you're looking on this only from the romance perspective, out of all the romances in Dragon Age Morrigan's is the only one you never get any personal closure on. Not even a little bit. I understand wanting more from Alistair, Zevran and Leliana but you do at least get something from them... whereas from Morrigan you get nothing (albeit for very good reasons).
So for those men who romanced Morrigan, you might want to cut them some slack.
That said, that's not the only reason to do this DLC-- I would think many people would be curious as to what the future holds regarding Morrigan. And, yes, it takes all the various ending states of Origins into account. And, yes, in case anyone's wondering I wrote the Morrigan part.
I know Gaider said not to worry later on and such in one of his status updates, but I'm skeptical. You can certainly provide closure without reigniting the romance. The fact that Gaider mentions how we get nothing from Morrigan "albeit for very good reasons" has me thinking though. What I fear is that this DLC simply lets us chat with Morrigan about our romance but that the romance stays dead, you only get the reasons from Morrigan why it must stay dead and never to be. I could do some more doom and gloom on that point but I'll spare you.
As for Morrigan's plan or fate- my gut reaction from the trailer is the whole Morrigan=EVIL or corrupted angle. Thats likely just the way they made the trailer though. And honestly, that sort of story can be very well done (see KOTOR and dark side Bastila). The problem is that should Morrigan get twisted or transformed or Blighted or turned evil, its very unlikely that the Warden would be able to deal with that in the confines of a short DLC. And that would be problematic.
Some other points that came to mind:
Power/Survival vs. Sorrow and Regret: Which Morrigan will we see- the one thats all about about power as love has no meaning or the one that felt sorrow and regret through the ring? Will the ring play a role?
Old Gods- Whatever Morrigan is doing its tied to the Old Gods somehow. First the DR and OGB, now messing with ancient Tevinter?Elven mirrors likely tied to the Taint somehow. What is her goal? What is her plan? The frustrating thing I forsee with this DLC is that its not going to answer enough questions or rather it simply raises just as many new questions. Morrigan's story isn't done so we'll likely still get hit with some cliffhanger of sorts I'd guess- or at least a plot thread to be picked up for Morrigan's inevitable return in DA3 or whenever.
Flemeth- Maybe Morrigan is doing something with the mirror to counteract Flemeth? We know that Morrigan seeks to be as powerful as Flemeth, but as I've said, I have the feeling that in her pursuit of power, Morrigan may get in over her head...
Immortality? Its mentioned in the Drake's Fall codex that the Tevinter mages there sought immortality and we know that immortality was a big thing for the elves of Arlathan. Does Morrigan seek the power of immortality? Does Morrigan want God like power?
Cure the Taint? Could Morrigan's OGB and mirror plan be used to cure the Taint somehow?
The Black City- Someone mentioned it earlier I think, but maybe the OGB is a ticket harm free through the mirror into the Black City and thus learning its secrets?
MorriClones? How could the Morrigan clones, maybe fit into all this? Or is that just absurd?
The Dark Ritual and Old God Baby: The mirror plan is all well and nice, but you ask anyone thats finished Origins what secret they want revealed from Morrigan and its what the hell are you planning to really do with the Old God Baby and what is your plan? If BioWare tries to shove the mirror down our throats to try and have us forget about the OGB, they're mistaken. If we don't get some meaningful answers to the OGB and DR, this DLC is a failure in my eyes. Those are the secrets people want revealed.
So how could Morrigan's fate end up? Well, the pessimist in me thinks she'll turn "evil" or get possessed by something in the mirror or get tainted or something. Then that leads to the PC having to "confront" Morrigan as the big boss fight- maybe she turns into a Dragon too, who knows. But it seems as if we meet Morrigan at the end of this DLC, and almost all games have that last boss fight, so my guess is Morrigan is it. Unless of course we get a Saren in ME1 choice to talk her down somehow.
But my guess is we'll be forced to confront Morrigan and "defeat" her, at which point she regains her senses and goes back to normal, but is in grave condition. At that point we have the choice to kill her, leave her, save her or go frolicking through the grassy green meadows to a nice little cottage with her.=]

Who knows what will happen? Only the Gaider and Chee (and most everyone else on the DA team) knows. It will likely be far more mundane than what I have brewing in my head, which is probably a good thing. The fact that Chee is writing the quest to is good as she was responsible for the Mage Tower quest and my favorite, The Urn of Sacred Ashes, in Origins. And I hope Gaider realizes how nice it would be for a happy ending with Morrigan for once- not everything needs to be tragedy and bittersweet.
I mean it when I say it though that if this DLC amounts to just paying BioWare $7 to kick me in the balls again, I won't be getting DA2. At best I'd pick it up as a guilty pleasure for cheap on a Steam sale.
All I can say is that if Morrigan messes with the mirror and ends up all twisted and looking like TaintedMorri here:

I'll be very disappointed BioWare.....
