Terra, do what you think is best. Her friendship speech is far better than her "love is a weakness, please release me" speech... She is warmer when she is friendly...but that's just me

As for the love is a weakness dialog - is that in the "we must end this" dialog (don't have the toolset installed on this machine, and thus don't have the dialog files in front of me)

No no... The "we must end this"... is the option you have to break up with her if the romance is active. If you bring it up she'll respond with the "interested" dialogue, as if her approval is no more than 50.

"I will not lie to you. I have enjoyed our... closeness."
"But if this is what you wish, I will not draw this out further. So be it."

God damn it I remember that one! Intensely annoying that she'd always give you the indifferent response, I'll fix it later today!

That Love - Approval 91+ branch is pretty damn good as well. *Sigh* its no wonder people's opinions are so skewed with these kinds of screw ups.

But seriously - what the hell, its setting the still in love flag as well? Ugh, this is precisely what I talking about earlier - its evident that there were a bunch of different people working on this and they all had different ideas as to what these flags were doing. In a project of this magnitude, there should be a centralised document (that is maintained throughout the development cycle) that describes what all the flags/variables are supposed to be doing, but from the looks of things, everyone was doing there own thing.

ejoslin jests that a set of trained monkeys were working on the scripts, I say a group of trained monkeys could have done a better job.

Umm the still in love flag is self explanatory, I think.

All 4 romance options have it. If you break up with them(or they break up with you) you'll get it.

So if you get Morrigan to 91+ approval... she's in love with you and nothing changes that. Even if you break up with her your PC will still feel her sorrow through the ring.

She will also call you "my love" if you take her with you to fight the archdemon. You may have ended your relationship... but hey, the woman still loves you

Alistair works the same way, and Leliana has a variation in the US ending if you broke up with her. Don't know about Zevran.

It is, but when you factor in the way the scripts arbitrary and interchangably use STILL_IN_LOVE, ROMANCE _ACTIVE and IN_LOVE as flag checks for all kinds of things is what's causing stuff like the ring epilogue and awakening epilogues to screw up. It gives me a headache just thinking about it.

Anyway, surely we must be nearing the end of screwed up stuff in morrigan's main dialogue file by now.

If you've got a PC that can handle DAO, I would definitely pick it up for the PC. You'll get the mods, better graphics (provided your PC is good enough) and IMO, a better control scheme.

As for DA2- well, as sloppy as the programming seems to be in Origins I guess we can only hope that we even get the chance to romance Morrigan as the Warden again in DA2. Once we know that bit of info, then I'd be more concerned about most of the Origins and Awakening bugs.

Question for those more technologically savvy than me: Have any of the awesome modders here been able to look around in Awakening to see how possibly sloppy the programming is in that? Or is that not possible yet with the toolset?

If anyone has a save with a human male near the gate at the end, that would be perfect to test her out. i'll post again when i have the files up and ready. =)

Not that thread regulars would want to break up with her (quite the opposite in fact), but the Morrigan break up lines have now been restored and are all fully functional in-game. Again, there's some nice dialog in here, pity you can't get to it in the vanilla game.









I think they gave up half way through implementing the break up dialog for morrigan - there were a couple of issues that were causing it to always default to the "flirtation dialog" (setting the romance active flag to clear at the start of the dialog branch caused all subsequent conditional checks to fail) in addition to not checking the flags correctly, the now infamous STILL_IN_LOVE flag is only mentioned in the scripting comments section -its not actually implemented within the dialog itself. I'll see about getting it in later - do all romance partners get forced to still in love status in their final conversation or is it just Morrigan?

Btw Charsen, those are some disturbing Zevran pics you've got there. They almost make the Darkspawn look pretty by comparison..
