THE Morrigan Discussion and Research Thread *Infested with Bugs Yet Again!*

Since the very beginning of your relationship with her you can easily tell that love with Morrigan is supposed to hurt, it's supposed to make you want more. For any character who can't handle heartbreak time and time again, Leliana or Zevran are the way to go.
This being said I DON'T want to see another DRish ending. If their going to make us scream in frustration and feel like hitting Morrigan for being such a pain in the ***, the least they can do is make it different and more intense.

Thread is rather quiet. Is this the calm before the storm? XD
Haha, yeah since I rushed through Origins with my most recent Cousland and have since given up on trying to finish Awakening before WH, I'm going back through from the Landsmeet on and leveling up my DW warrior a bit more and wrapping up side quests.
I'll probably be on here up until they release Witch Hunt to download, but at the first hint of it being out and people playing it, I'm out of here- Gamespot potentially spoiled the whole thing already, I'd rather it not be spoiled anymore.

I'm not very pleased after reading the gamespot preview. I was hoping for a very intense climax, but not necessarilly closure. What I mean is I'd like to see the Warden dive after Morrigan into the mirror.(THE END) Or the events force you to kill her or let her kill you.(THE END)
Well, I think we need closure in the sense that if this is the last time we'll be seeing the Warden with Morrigan we need to get some closure on their relationship. Personally, if they both go through the mirror together, I'd consider that a happy ending- I don't expect them to go off and have a happy family or anything, but explaining why the Warden can or cannot go with Morrigan is necessary in this DLC.
And sure, the Morrigan romance shouldn't be all sunshine and puppies or something easy- the fact that its filled with some plot related drama makes it interesting, just like Alistair's romance is connected to the plot too. But at the same time if the writers just bring down the Plot Hammer like they did with the DR, it ceases to feel like your Warden is romancing Morrigan the character and instead is romancing Morrigan the Plot Element. And in a choice driven RPG yanking away any agency from the player like that is jarring and rings totally false, IMO.
A little heartbreak is fine, but if they simply keep going back to that to twease out some emotion it just feels cheap. Have the Morrigan romancing Warden go through hell and back to get that potentially "happy" ending, but leave that "happy" ending a possibility and don't just preordain some bleak, tragic ending thats been smashed over the player's head by the Plot Gods.
If it ends with as little closure and the total lack of answers like the DR, simply teasing at more things to come (which we know we won't get in DA2), I will be terribly, terribly disappointed with BioWare.

To those who have teh skillz and are denizens of deviantART! I have just started a contest with wardenxMorrigan and Morrigan categories: Click here!
Just read over your contest, ximena. This looks like a cool contest. I didn't see anything about the deadline, though...
Also, for literature entries, does it have to be a one-shot or could someone START an ongoing fanfic and use that as an entry?
I'd consider pushing plans for my morrigan romance fanfic for this contest if Witch Hunt turns out to have some of the outcomes I'm hoping it does (some good choices, some morally corrupt choices, too).
I wouldn't do anything Edric/Morrigan related. Obviously its nothing against "Demons Within", its just that I personally wouldn't do anything based on others work unless I was randomly arttrade-requested/commissioned to do a fanfic (Its your story and Edric is your Warden, afterall). If I entered the contest, it would be with my male City Elf, Corviel, the one character most like me, and therefore the only one I could bare romancing Morrigan with...
EDIT: as unlike my other Wardens, which are just characters to me that I created, my City Elf is most like me, so I wouldn't want her with anyone else but my City Elf

It all really depends on how they handle that last confrontation with morrigan. I think thats really the make or break point for a lot of morrigan/warden fans and if they don't handle it well (Dark Ritual 2.0) then my interest/concern for the series will take a huge hit. I just hope you have the chance to do something and not just sit there while morrigan tells you how it has to be and then have her disappear and not be able to follow her or do anything about it.
Exactly- If its yet another DR scene where the Warden just has to stand there passively while the Morrigan winds up the Plot Hammer of Doom and smacks the Warden in the balls, thats not going to make for many happy and smiling Morrigan fans. More like pissed off and upset Morrigan fans.
As for the timing of when it will be released, Fernando just posted this in the Witch Hunt announcment thread, FYI:

Rough DLC release timing - please keep in mind these are estimates, there can always be local delays as well as time needed for content to propagate/mirrored to all servers:

(MS usually does their DLC updates tuesdays worldwide around 4AM PST)
PC/Mac worldwide: tuesday, by 10AM mountain time
(we aim for putting PC & Mac DLCs live worldwide by 10AM our time - mountain time - on the same day as the earliest other platform or retail launch)
PS3 North America - mid day tuesday, pacific time
(Sony America does their DLC updates for NA PSN stores on tuesdays between noon and mid-aft PST)
PS3 Europe (and PAL region - incl Oz) - mid afternoon wednesday, GMT

I just beat DA. Morrigan was my LI, and I had her leave at the end. I have to say I got some serious goosebumps when I read the note about her at the epilogue, where it's mentioned that she was seen in the mountains area near Orzammar. Wow! I want her back!
That said, I'm actually glad Witch Hunt is coming out tomorrow. Perfect timing for me.
Nice timing! You didn't have to experience the agony for months like most of us did. xD
well but if u follow the timeline u still need to finish Awakening..wich is what i am doing now...too bad i won't finish it till tomorrow

Also that would make me and other Pacific time residents just like the people sitting in the first car in Roller Coasters... we're the first to face whatever twists, turns and loops we will encounter...

That´s a mod armor or is it in game?
Wade's Dragonbone Plate. What you get for killing the HD on the mountain
Dammit. I never kill the HD. Somehow it feels wrong after one burned Orlais in The Stolen Throne.
How can you not feel the urge to kill a big dragon? Think of the loot!
I always play RPGs avoiding fighting as much as possible. Even in the Gothic series I usually don´t attack animals who don´t do the first move. Loot has nothing to do with it. I only do the first move if the characer really desrves it and would scape justice otherwise. With Flemeth, the conversation hints heavily Morrigan was not lying about how she lives that long, and you don´t really kill her anyway. Pity the only loot is the grimoire and the Possesion clothes... the only loot.... I think next playthrough I´m destroying them. Anyone knows if they have a save flag?

As an aside, in just now finishing up my Origins playthrough, I thought I would reiterate how much I HATE the Dark Ritual scene. The evasiveness and lack of any role playing choices makes me want to RAGE.

You're telling me.
If Witch Hunt ends in a disaster, hello Anora.....
... and probably the Morrigan Restoration Mod might be a factor in the experience, IDK yet.

I'm excited and anxious at the same time- I've got my classes in the AM then rush back at noon, start downloading and hopefully get some satisfying closure. I'll be most definitely writing up my impressions and a review. Probably will take my Awakening Cousland in first, then depending on how good/bad the ending is, maybe I'll take my most recent Origins Cousland or Amell through next depending on nerd rage levels:O
I think I'm going to go dark now, only checking back to watch for the first hint of Witch Hunt being out in the wild. The Gamespot "preview" already ruined things to an extent, and I'd hate for WH to be ruined even more at this point.
All these months of speculation and ranting comes down to tomorrow. Godspeed fellow Morrigan romancing Wardens and lets hope we don't get Gaider'd yet again.

Even Morrigan is worried we'll get Gaider'd!

As a quick question, I am a PS3 user who got the "ring" ending from Origins. I remember talking to Morrigan at the gates of Denerim, but my approval rating did not drop at all. It stayed maxed out until the end of the game.
Will I still encounter the Awakenings bug? Should I transfer to Witch Hunt from Origins instead?
I think alot of people will do that until this "bug" is resolved.

Well, with the ring issue, her numeric approval wouldn't drop- on the PC if you mouse over the approval bar it shows their status, like "friendly", "adore," "love" and so on. The problem with talking to Morrigan that last time is that it turns her from "love" to "friendly"- you don't necessarily lose any approval points.
So yeah, if you get the ring epilogue in Origins you will not get the right epilogue in Awakening. Supposedly accoridng to some of the devs, it shouldn't matter though for Witch Hunt- ideally you're ok importing either from origins or Awakening. I was thinking of going with my Awakening save to import first, but think I'll just stick with my Origins save to import into WH first, since I doubt any Awakening specific stuff will be mentioned and I like Starfang and the Warden Commander armor too much.

Join us, brothers and sisters. Join us in Morrigans tent where we stand vigilant. Join us as we warm her that cannot be warmed. And should you perish, know that your sacrifice will not be forgotten... and that one day, we shall join you.
