Hey guys just got to the end of Origins first playthrough (well not finished but at besieged Denerim).

problem is I was hoping to romance Morrigan down the line but I kind of blindly wandered into the "friend zone".

When she was asking if we could ever be "more than friends" I said maybe, but now when I'm past the landsmeet I give/gave her decent gifts but can I get further with Morrigan post-landsmeet?

I have 2 saves same character because I wasn't sure what would happen if I went to Redcliffe (my other save is in Denerim post-landsmeet just before I left for Redcliffe) I manage to get in bed with Morrigan before the march but I was hoping to romance her proper.

Have I screwed up or is it possible still to romance Morrigan? Posted Image
I have her at full approval.

I'm not exactly sure what you're saying here, but if you're saying that Morrigan can only be gentler when opened up and can only be tough when closed-off, then I disagree completely. I personally think Morrigan IS a tough, durable woman regardless of how much she's confided in the Warden or how vulnerable she has left herself when it comes to the Warden and love.

I'd agree, I was just saying that Morrigan sort of has 2 faces going on- the outward one she portrays to people that don't know her and her other more fallible side that the Warden gets to see if he is friendly or in a romance with her. Morrigan barely talks about her true feelings with the Warden so I doubt she would be letting down her guard to some random person. So how she portrays herself to most people is the cold, hard survivalist Witch of the Wilds side. And from Flemeth's teachings, she expects to be treated like garbage from the world. And most of the companions simply treat her how she expects an apostate to be treated. Thats why she gets all flustered and confused when the Warden actually is nice to her- she's never had someone genuinely act that way towards her and she has no clue how to reciprocate.

Ahh if that was where you were going, then I understand completely now, and I do agree with that sentiment.

PureMethodActor wrote..
If nothing else, I see the Morrigan/Warden romance as a highly emotional one where the two can lean on eachother and be intimate without any fear of hurt.

I understand what you're saying, but I'm not so sure about the "without any fear of hurt" part. Morrigan already dumped your Warden's sorry ass and stole away with your kid at the end of Origins. So whatever she has planned, its something she views bigger than her personal love for the Warden.
So while she let the Warden come along in Witch Hunt, I do think thats a big step for her- basically letting the Warden in on her life. Yet, we don't know what other secrets she may be harboring, so while I don't think Morrigan would ever mean to harm or hurt the Warden, I'm just wondering if at some point her plan doesn't come into conflict with the romance somehow. Maybe Morrigan has to do something which puts her in danger or something that a romancing Warden wouldn't want her to do?

My apologies, Brock. I didn't make clear the exact details. I've meant my statements as applying to the feelings on WH and post-WH as well as during Origins. What I meant by my quote above is that I feel the relationship can grow to that AFTER WH, since Morrigan decided to stop shutting the Warden out. Believe me, I was afraid of getting dumped throughout the romance during my first playthrough in Origins with Morrigan's fairly obvious hints.

Just wanted to point out as well the quote from the user "Loria22" (or whatever the name was) and Gaider's response. That user CLEARLY didn't understand how awesome and lovely Morrigan can be, but that was obvious :P. And Gaider's analysis of Morrigan's appeal, I'd have to say, is accurate in general, even if it isn't exactly mine.

I've wondered how she managed to seemingly get the OGB into Mirror World too. Did Morigan find some other Eluvian and toss the Old God Baby through? Or did Morrigan already go into Mirror World, leave the OGB with the baby sitter and then come back? But if Morrigan has already been to Mirror World then why did she come back to Thedas? Something doesn't add up to me...

Hmmm...If you've given her all of her gifts and she is only friendly, you're probably out of luck. If you have the mirror, that can trigger her romance. Post landsmeet is fairly far into the game, but I'm guessing you at some point shut down the romance by saying you just wanted to be friends or something- but still, if you had the mirror you could re-trigger the romance that way. Maybe there are other ways- I'm not sure.

I don't know though. Presumably, the Warden will be far more knowledgable as to Morrigan's plans when he goes into Mirror World with her, yet will Morrigan sit down with him and let him know everything? I guess she could, since I'd think if there was anything she really didn't want him to know she wouldn't have let him follow her. But I'm guessing Morriganknows tons of things she isn't telling the Warden and I doubt, even if she trusts him, that she'll let him in on everything.

Yea, her barely resisting and ultimately agreeing to let you follow her does not follow from her resisting and ultimately refusing to tell you much.

So if Morrigan is coherent, following her does not necessarily mean you will know a lot more.
Unless, Morrigan think it's safer to let you know once you are with her, instead of letting you know while you are far from her.

Very true. I wasn't specifically referring to Morrigan's plans, though. I seriously meant just feelings, as far as the trust aspect went... lol. Yeah I've been talking about feelings a lot here lately. I'm kinda a sensitive guy in general, so forgive me for oversaturating that in this thread if I have been. I've come close to psycho-analyzing myself and sharing that, and I would have face-palmed myself if I did.

I think it would be wishful thinking at best to hope for Morrigan letting the Warden in on EVERYTHING when it comes to her plans.

I already gave her the mirror. Posted Image

Yeah I didn't realise saying "Maybe, under the right circumstances" would cease the whole thing. Posted Image

Anyone played WH without a proper romance? I was planning to buy it but without romance I don't know how much point there is. Posted Image

Dude, you're in the Morrigan thread. We are all sensitive, otherwise I don't think we would have appreciated the romance as much

Yeah, I kind of think its more like the DR again where the writers didn't want to totally tip their hand as to what Morrigan's plans are. Because it seems odd that for about 99% of that conversation its all about how Morrigan dare not tell the Warden anything for no reason in particular.

So it might just be that instead of kicking Morrigan romancing Wardens in the balls again as Morrigan runs away, they at least let the Warden tag along this time.

Or its more like Morrigan finally letting her emotions and love get the better of her and posibly against her better intuition, she lets the Warden follow her. After all, she does say something along the lines of how it would be better for them both if the Warden stayed behind.

And I guess as far as not telling the Warden everything, its possible she didn't want Finn or Ariane overhearing. But its probably more like the writers not wanting to let the cat out of the bag.

True, but I did, a page ago, start a discussion over whether a "Morrigan-wearing-the-pants" dynamic was legitimate or not, with the premise of saying I base my main playthrough on this, so I guess I can be "extra"-sensitive (I know that was going to come out wrong regardless, so yeah).

Slightly off-topic, but still Morrigan-related question:

KoP, I see you A LOT, on here and the Dwarven thread, and this is proven by the fact that we're engaged in a convo on each thread. I've seen lots of Dain Aeducan, and equal in exposure are your Morrigan-related posts here.

So I have to ask... is Dain a Morrigan-romancing Warden??? It would be so cool if this is the case. I'm planning a Dwarf playthrough in the future with an exclusive Morrigan romance again so any opinions on the dynamic would be appreciated :D

No, he didn't. He romanced no one. The in-game explanation is that he is not attracted to non-dwarves.

The REAL reason is that I can only romance Morrigan with my canon and I can't do it with someone else. So I've only romanced Morrigan once.
It's weird I know and it almost sounds like I'd be jealous of my own characters. :D

So I am not sure I can help you with Dwarf / Morrigan dynamics.
But I am sure someone here romanced Morrigan with a Dwarf. Master Shiori romanced her a dozen times I think lol

I played it as a female character who befriended her. It was nice to see the friendship dialogue and get some kind of closure from the whole thing.

Haha- I have no problem having my other non DW Warrior Samuel COusland characters romance Morrigan. I just figure my Amell and other COuslands are just alternate universe versions of my canon Warden.:wizard:

I tried to romance Morrigan with a dwarf.....but its just wrong. You thought the sex scenes and kissing scenes were goofy before...ugh...

Ahh, I see. Dain is, for now, a free-roamer. Nothing like the life of a bachelor, right ;)

I actually understand where you're coming from as far as the one-warden-for-morrigan explanation you gave. That is how I've felt about it in regards to my City Elf, Corviel Tabris. Since he he based on me, I actually wanted her "exclusive" to him, as I would sort-of feel jealous as well. To me its not wierd at all. I totally get it. I'm only planning to make a new one for a Morrigan-exclusive romance because I wanted to combine my two favorite things: dwarves/Morrigan, and plus I made a lot of mistakes during my playthrough as Corviel, such as supporting Harrowmont, and I want my future Dwarf Commonor to be the culmination of what I learned and another aspect of myself. Basically what I'm saying is that Warden's who are like me in personality are the ONLY ones who get Morrigan romance, because I'm that much a fan "ONLY I can have her and no one else!" ^_^

Well I'll see if Master Shiori comes around again, or I'll send a message, whichever comes first.

Yea same here, esxcept I had only one Warden based on myself and I am not planing on making more.
Though I did replay my canon, mostly because I miss romancing Morrigan

You see, I would stick with JUST one playthrough as an avatar of myself, but I often make mistakes during playthroughs, and its too late to go back to earlier saves, so I decide to make another "version" of myself and do it right.

Also part of it could be schitzophrenia  lol j/k I don't really think I have that.

@Brock, I can understand your objection to the Morrigan/Dwarf romance, and I respect your opinion since you weren't confrontational so I won't bring up that type of controversial argument.

Suffice to say I'm mainly planning this type of romance because honestly, who here out of us who romance Morrigan CAN'T say they don't find excuses to do playthroughs and romance Morrigan, right?

At least I'm hoping I'm right, otherwise I've just discovered I've become too obsessed

Ha- no, I don't "object" to a dwarf/Morrigan romance- I just find it ends up far too hilarious for me to take seriously. I had a hard enough time not bursting out in laughter at the human/human sex scenes in DAO- the dwarf ones are just too much:lol:

That and I can never make a male dwarf that doesn't somehow end up looking like he has acromegaly. But the female dwarves can look nice...

Yeah, I'm doing a mage playthrough just so my more Libertarian Amell can chat about magic with Morrigan and have a super powered mage Old God baby:wizard:

Do you think she sent someone through first with the OGB (edited to add "or non-OGB child" LOL)? That would have made getting the mirror to let her go through even more "difficult" as she says, since they'd have already gone through.

Maybe the elf dude (can't remember his name) from the DE origin is still in there and he's taking care of OGB/other child Posted Image

I don't know who else Morrigan would trust with the OGB, seeing as its sort of the most important thing in the world to her since it seems as if its makes up an important part of her plan. And Morrigan is sort of a loner, or we're led to believe she is at least.

But maybe if she already went through an Eluvian and cmae back for whatever reason that could explain why she said activating the Eluvian in WH was especially difficult since she had to find another one...

Meeeh about the gameplay footage. It sure looks like hack and slash, but I hope it doesn't play and *feel* like one. And too much gore and useless exploding bodies.

Yeah, I know thats supposed to be the exaggerated part of Varric's legend and all but still.... it just doesn't look that appealing to me for reasons I've stated in this thread

Back to Morrigan now!

Random Morrigan question!

If Morrigan had a vehicle to drive, what kind would it be!?:P

I actually think thats his answer. It looks like a car I'd imagine Morrigan owning, and its purple. :P
