Morri drawing to kick things off!

Awesome stuff Ximena :o

ximena wrote...
My song for the romance has always been "The Fragile" by Nine Inch Nails. Though it speaks more of how the warden wishes to "save" Morrigan.

Yeah, NIN 's stuff in general fits beautifully with the Warden/Morrigan romance I think.

Before Witch Hunt, I always thought "The Great Below " by NIN would be fitting if the Warden never found Morrigan again and had to go off on his Calling one day, filled with sorrow and regret at never having found his child and his love. And he's thinking of both of them and all that could have been, maybe feeling Morrigan's presence through the ring, as he takes his final plunge into the Deep Roads:crying:

Lyrics:

Staring at the sea

Will she come?

Is there hope for me

After all is said and done

Anything at any price

All of this for you

All the spoils of a wasted life

All of this for you

All the world has closed her eyes

Tired faith all worn and thin

For all we could have done

And all that could have been

Ocean pulls me close

And whispers in my ear

The destiny I've chose

All becoming clear

The currents have their say

The time is drawing near

Washes me away

Makes me disappear

And I descend from grace

In arms of undertow

I will take my place

In the great below

I can still feel you

Even so far away

Don't let that give you any ideas for killing off Edric, Ximena!:o

ximena wrote...
Indeed. There is a slight role reversal in DW with Edric now just kicking back waiting for the two ladies in his life to come up with something. Though he'd do something if he finds something to do. And do note that there's quite a long amount of time between Origins and DW. Lots of time for character development. Reasons currently only exist in my head. XD

How much time exactly is supposed to have transpired again from Awakening to the start of DW?

ximena wrote...
Though really, in DW I still haven't shown Morrigan interacting with strangers. She still only shows her other side to her daughter and Edric.

Heh- well didn't Edric mention something about going into town in the last DW? Is Morrigan's little cabin more towards the Dales or the Orlesian side of the Frostbacks or towards the Ferelden side? Considering how odd Morrigan finds civilization, I'd really wonder how she'd act towards snooty Orlesians- ha! Perfect opportunity for some flustered, fish out of water Morrigan action!

Regarding the time - Nearly six years. Though Edric left the Keep around 5 years after the start of Awakening. Though he spent a little amount of time in Highever to talk to Fergus and see something off. Then he spent the next few months traveling and pinpointing Ellyn's "GPS coordinates." So I guess you can estimate how far the taint's effect on him is.

Town - More on the Orlesian side. Ahahaha. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to show every little thing that would happen in town. Just snippets in panels. XD Since I have to kick the plot off very soooooooonnn. And send all of you cyring and saying no again.

Great Below - ah yes. It's the perfect song for the scenario the witch 'mancin warden failed to find Morrigan.

I suddenly remembered this song from a local band. Listen to it here: www.youtube.com/watch I think it speaks more about the DR and Morrigan's "betrayal."

Something isn't right here
I've been feeling it for awhile
I used to be uncertain
But things are clearer now
Things are clearer now
Between the lines drawn are getting thin
Could this be the end of something beautiful?

Am I reaching out to nothing?
Please tell me that I'm not too late
Don't shut me out
Take back things said
That were never meant

Coz it feels like the end of it all
We're strangers again
All promise is lost
Coz it feels like the end of it all
Could this be the end
Of something beautiful?

She makes me feel like I've lost it all
No hopeful returns
She's never returning
Our bitter words that echo
Along these walls tonight
Take back things said
That were never meant

She's caught up in my system
A good drug is so hard to find
Leaving me dry
Renounce you off my body
Coz to be with you once more
I close my eyes.

Ahaha. I'm already revealing the DW fanmix I plan on releasing soon. XD

Interesting to see the song interpretations of the romance. Definitely something different for me on this thread.

To be honest, I have NO idea what song I would use associate the Warden/Morrigan romance with anymore, as my initial guesses at the story's path got Gaider'ed (I'd say this is appropriate as Gaider wrote the Morrigan interaction part and he blew all my assumptions away).

Well for ANY type of love song, I usually go towards the Rock Ballads, Metal Ballads, or even Hair Metal Ballads (I'm a sucker for classic Metal and Rock Ballads :P), so I'll probably look through my collection one of these days and listen to find some songs I think fit.

I always used to blast " I want to know what love is" by foreigner when I was playing Origins, specifically when it involved something with morrigan. I don't know why but I just associate it with the romance now :D

Would Morrigan have a ''sad feel-sorry'' song or a ''heavy f -u I'm the best'' song?

Sad- feel sorry.

I think Morri's song would be more melancholic and dark rather than bright and loud

I have to admit, I kinda lol'ed when you said this. Just the myriad of songs I imagined in my head were ridiculous XD

The only thing that I would be able to think of nowadays, in regards to songs about Morrigan or feelings in regards to all the pain she causes our Wardens, would be depressing songs, regardless of the style of music presented. Songs will be even more depressing if DA3 doesn't show the connection between Warden and Morrigan again, but I try not to think of such thoughts right now...

Oh boy,

There i am, knocked out with a cold for a while, and the whole thread goes nuts  Yes Brockololly, Terra_Ex and Master Shiori, i am looking at you specifically :P

It took me days to catch up all those interesting things you wrote, one page could take up to more than half an hour to read. I had so many things i wanted to say, but the only thing i remember now are cars with Morrigan's face on it.

So please forgive me for making such a stupid and meaningless response by just saying glad this thread is still alive and you're all still around. And even more gald i've finally catched up, feel i could use some sleep now

and i know that i am incredibly late, but nevertheless, congrats to the 400!!!! :wizard:

*off to check my deviant account to see all those new and brilliant Morri artwork by Ximena*

Ohgod. Oh god how can I forget about this song? More NIN~ Something I can never have This fueled my early MorrixWarden art. XD

I guess this classifies under the "sad feel-sorry" songs for Morri?

Lyrics:

I still recall the taste of your tears.

Echoing your voice just like the ringing in my ears.

My favorite dreams of you still wash ashore.

Scraping through my head 'till I don't want to sleep anymore.

[Chorus:]

You make this all go away.

You make this all go away.

I'm down to just one thing.

And I'm starting to scare myself.

You make this all go away.

You make this all go away.

I just want something.

I just want something I can never have

You always were the one to show me how

Back then I couldn't do the things that I can do now.

This thing is slowly taking me apart.

Grey would be the color if I had a heart.

Come on tell me

[Chorus]

In this place it seems like such a shame.

Though it all looks different now,

I know it's still the same

Everywhere I look you're all I see.

Just a fading ****ing reminder of who I used to be.

Come on tell me

[Chorus]

I just want something I can never have

I remember this one, Ximena. This is the song you used on the first panels of "Demons Within" that I ever read. I always meant to download and listen to it, but never got the chance.

And some crazy speculation: What if the big "change" Morrigan hints at is that Flemeth is going to somehow merge the world of the Fade with Thedas? Sort of like Oblivion, except maybe substitute the Oblivion gates with Eluvians? Yeah...thats pretty crazy talk.:wizard:

Ugh I surely hope not! That would turn me off from DA. I loved Morrowind et al, but Oblivion was so so so dark, and it actually gave me nightmares! I had to stop playing. (Yes, DA infiltrates my dreams, too, but never in a nightmarish way.) That was years ago when Oblivion first came out (WOW just looked it up, can't believe that was 2006!). Been playing MMO's (Guild Wars, then Lord of the Rings Online) ever since, but they just take up so much time once you get to playing with groups, and my lifestyle just isn't able to be set up around that any longer (non-OGB's and all that kinda interfere). I like a game that I can save and close, or leave open but paused in the background if necessary if life comes calling and I have to stop playing for a while, can't do that as easily when you're part of a team battling an epic boss or clearing a dungeon for cool loot. So, I decided I'd try Oblivion again, see if I'd "matured" past the nightmares . . . . and couldn't get it to re-install properly. I ended up buying Dragon Age and voila, here I am, hooked! Maybe, maybe if it was done with the great storytelling/character development that BioWare uses. Oblivion's story line and quest posibilities are also very very wide and can get quite tangental. Though I really liked my character in Oblivion (more so in Morrowind though), I was in no way nearly as attached as I am to my Warden). Again, maybe but I'd rather they did something different. Something original. Gotta be some other way there's gonna be a big change. Please. I really like the idea of having to choose sides in an epic showdown between Flemeth and Morrigan.

Hmmm...yeah, I guess it depends on where MIrror World is. Is it really the Black City? Technically, that could be considered beyond the Fade since its supposedly not accessible from the Fade. But I can't imagine the Black City being a very friendly place to raise a kid.

But when I was playing Awakening recently, Justice did hint at how he doesn't even know whats beyond the Fade. I actually jotted down some dialogue of his I though interesting:

In the Fade, when a spirit dies, it returns to its Source.

The word "source" was capitalized in the subtitles which made me think it was something important. Maybe there is some 3rd realm where everything dead goes? Maybe, as a means to resurrect the US Wardens and bring them back, Morrigan goes into Mirror WOrld to bring the US Wardens back if they did that? Kind of doub tthat but just throwing it out there.

As to how Mirror World could look- maybe sort of like the Fade? I mean, at least in the Calling, the Fade is basically however you want it to look- sort of you idelaized world- until you realize you're in the Face. I just wish the Fade looked a bit more bizarre- like a Salvador Dali painting mixed with some MC Escher.

Yeah, I agree- I can't really see them doing something like merging the Fade and Thedas. While that certainly would be a big change, it would seemingly sort of mess up the whole more low fantasy feel of DA with the politics and all that. Although maybe its not the Eluvians needed for something like thatt, but rathe Flemeth ends up making some massive rip in the Veil?

But like you said, I 'd just want DA3 to hopefully bring back Morrigan and the Warden and OGB to take on Flemeth amidst World War Thedas- thats a game I' d preorder right now.

Just now doing my first Awakenings run (and I got the bug in the Silverite mines, so I'll have to redo that tomorrow, argh!). Haven't met Justice yet.

I also just picked up Comics 2-5 and read #2 tonight. Calling and Stolen Throne are Gaider-made (that sounds too much like Gatorade LOL) but the comics are not, so I don't know how "canon" they are. Anyway, in #2, the main character mage falls asleep and is in the fade (even tho mages can go in and out of the fade awake, they always seem to be asleep when we encounter them ending up there, go figure). Anyway, the main character's mom was a mage who died right after the character's birth. She meets her mom in the Fade, Mom says she's put off going to the next place in order to watch over the daughter (who's with an adopted family who is hiding her from the templars).  Mom says "You are in the Fade, the dream realm, the world between yours and the afterlife." Then later she says "I have kept myself in this realm so that I may watch over you." So, like I said, not sure how canon those are, but the afterlife world could be a possibility. I could also see some huge tear in the veil, but so far Flemeth doesn't seem to have done that, even though she is probably powerful enough to do so.

On the topic of the comics, has anyone read Comic #1? At the very end a darkspawn tries to assassinate Greagoir and then some random almost Morrigan-like mage (dressed just like her, but blond) comes and saves him (Greagoir is fast asleep).  Shows up with two templars, too. Is that Morrigan? I don't think it is because of the blond hair and the templars with her, and saving the head of the templars of all people (unless Flemeth would have sent her, knowing Greagoir had larger things to do than be killed by some darkspawn in his bed).  I was hoping the comic writers would elaborate, it kinda didn't fit with the orginal story, but so far (having only read #2 at this point) I don't see anything going further down that story line.  Anyway, anyone else read these? Any ideas?

Unrelated to Morrigan, but do any of you guys have Wending Wood saves right before you encounter the Architect in Awakening - specifically savegames where you have encountered the infamous "Silverite Mines equipment glitch"? I believe I've fixed the issue (Works for me at least) but I'd like some other people to test it out before I release it. Male/female saves are both ok, so if you want to beta test the fix for me, let me know.

I have no idea if that is possible. Or of any use to Flemeth. Demons running free, turning humans into all different kind of abominations. I doubt even someone like Flemeth would want that. And i suppose whatever she is after would be of some use to her, and i can't see any use in that.

Thinking about Flemeth, old Golds and Grey Wardens. According to "The Calling", the First Warden and some other High Ranking Wardens know the location of the old gods beneath the surface. Maybe Morrigan wanred all Wardens to be prepared because of that.
So maybe Flemeth knows that as well ( new Blight in Anderfels), or she is after that knowledge. Though i am completely oblivious why she would want to do that, and whats in there for her...

For the Mirror world, din't Duncan say the old Tevinter mages used it to communicate with each other? So i suppose its linked throughout the Fade somehow. But maybe, some strange random thought, the mirror are also linked through time and space, allowing Morrigan to travel to a different place in time.
I recall Tamlen speaking of landscape, cities and more when he was tainted, maybe the mirror, once properly prepared to avoid being tainted yourself, allows you to travel to that places you can see? Back to the old Tevinter days, the days of Andraste, or when the old Mages (among them a young witch called Flemeth maybe) entered the black city?
