Unrelated to Morrigan, but do any of you guys have Wending Wood saves right before you encounter the Architect in Awakening - specifically savegames where you have encountered the infamous "Silverite Mines equipment glitch"? I believe I've fixed the issue (Works for me at least) but I'd like some other people to test it out before I release it. Male/female saves are both ok, so if you want to beta test the fix for me, let me know.

I'm there right now. Ran through Silverite last night and got the bug (got everyone's equipment back but mine). I'd love to test it for you . . .am planning to restart where I saved right before I went in to the mines and was going to do the whole "remove all my equipment first" thing.

Mom says "You are in the Fade, the dream realm, the world  between yours and the afterlife." Then later she says "I have kept  myself in this realm so that I may watch over you." So, like I said, not sure how canon those are, but the afterlife world could be a  possibility. I could also see some huge tear in the veil, but so far  Flemeth doesn't seem to have done that, even though she is probably  powerful enough to do so.

Yeah I've read the first 3 DA comics so far- eh, they're ok I guess although I don't really care for the art.

But as for that part in the Fade, its been a while but wasn't  that version of the mom of the mage actually like a demon or something? But as for what the mom said about the Fade being between the real world and the afterlife, thats about right I think- in Awakening when you get to Justice he mentions that- essentially, the Fade was the Maker's first creation with spirts and he abandoned that to make Thedas. So it would seem that the only thing we've got to go off of as to what could be "beyond the Fade" would be wherever people in Thedas go when they die.....

lilmeezer wrote...
Is that Morrigan? I don't think it is because of the blond hair and the templars with her, and saving the head of the  templars of all people (unless Flemeth would have sent her, knowing  Greagoir had larger things to do than be killed by some darkspawn in his bed).

No, its definitely not Morrigan. When I got Awakening, there was a little card/insert with it that had a promo image for the comic and it had what looked like Morrigan and Alistair on it, but later on they clearly changed the hair color of the Morrigan person to blonde. So its nothing really.

My first thought on seeing that?

Perhaps we should be wrapped in ribbons and adorned with flowers, so cute are we two.

Thankfully I've never gotten the Silverite Mines bug- when I was playing through Awakening last week I was totally holding my breath all throughout that part of the game.

I have no idea if that is possible. Or of any use to Flemeth. Demons  running free, turning humans into all different kind of abominations. I  doubt even someone like Flemeth would want that. And i suppose whatever she is after would be of some use to her, and i can't see any use in that.

Yeah, I don't know- really, who the heck knows what Flemeth wants? I guess all we know through legend is that she at one time supposedly raised an army of Witches of the Wild aand was defeated by Cormac. And from the trailer, it sort of looks like Flemeth is raising an army again.

MoSa09 wrote...
Thinking about Flemeth, old Golds and Grey Wardens.  According to "The Calling", the First Warden and some other High Ranking Wardens know the location of the old gods beneath the surface. Maybe  Morrigan wanred all Wardens to be prepared because of that. So maybe Flemeth knows that as well ( new Blight in Anderfels), or she is after that knowledge. Though i am completely oblivious why she would want to do that, and whats in there for her...

Oh if the Old Gods play any role in the future, the fact that the First Warden and probably other higher up Wardens know the locations of the 2 remaining Old Gods seems like a prime point to explore in the future. That sort of stuff seems like it would be highly sensitive information- as if that stuff ever got to the darkspawn who knows what wouyld happen- either raising up 2 archdemons, maybe Flemeth or Morrigan awakening the Old Gods uncorrupted or even somebody managing to kill the Old Gods- what happens to the darkspawn then?

MoSa09 wrote...
For the Mirror world, din't Duncan say the old Tevinter mages used it to communicate with each other? So i suppose its linked throughout the Fade somehow. But maybe,  some strange random thought, the mirror are also linked through time and space, allowing Morrigan to travel to a different place in time.

Time travelling Morrigan!  I don't know- Duncan or maybe it was Eleni Zinovia, Ariane or Finn in WItch Hunt- somebody mentioned that the Eluvians were taken from Arlathan by the Tevinters. But that the Tevinter mages could not get them to work beyond communication. So I'm guessing that they can do more than simply communication- the fact is that Morrigan stole a Dalish book on the Eluvians, not a Tevinter one. So perhaps Morrigan was able to unlock the true power of the Eluvian?

MoSa09 wrote...
I recall Tamlen speaking of landscape, cities and more when he was  tainted, maybe the mirror, once properly prepared to avoid being tainted yourself, allows you to travel to that places you can see? Back to the  old Tevinter days, the days of Andraste, or when the old Mages (among  them a young witch called Flemeth maybe) entered the black city?

Hehe- Terminator Morrigan goes back in time to kill Flemeth before she can mess up Thedas haha. If I recall, Tamlen says that he sees a dark city underground and eventually he says something about being watched. The only thing that makes me think ots not the Black CIty is that he says a city underground, which makes me think he saw some overrun dwarven Thaig where the Archdemon was camping out

So, raising an army, attacking the world and getting defeated is a regular habit of her? Well, to each her own i guess ^_^

I did not really mean time travel. More like a window to the past. You cannot exit the mirror, and its all blurry like in the fade, but maybe you can watch and see what happened around the other mirrors, when they were active, from the outside, can hear some of the words that were spoken, without being able to exit the mirror, invisible to those in the past and unable to influence the past yourself.
And for Morrigan being able to activate the mirror, and that it was difficult, i always thought the mirror, being forgotten for such a long time, had lost much of its power, and Morrigan had to restore part of that power while strip it from the influence to taint its users, and that was what she was talking about.

Terminator Morrigan. There we have something new for Ximena to draw. Morrigan as the T-X from "Rise of the Machines". :innocent:

But the city underground, that could be part of Cadash Thaig, where the elven went into hiding as you learn in Witch Hunt. I bet if you have time and ressources to dig deep enoguh, you'll find much more elven lore and secrets, and maybe an entire city down there. And wasn't it said that Arlathan, after it was destroyed, sank beneath the surface of the world? Or do i mess this up with a different story?
Anyway, if we ever got to learn more about the elves in future DA games, that *sigh* could mean more Deep Roads. I hate the Deep Roads!!!

Hopefully femHawke (i think, as the Exile was female as well after Revan, Hawke should be female as well, at least mine will) does not have to spend that much time underground...

That would be pretty neat- certainly would give the possibility of providing some answers.

I guess the question is though, how did she activate the mirror? Blood magic, something equally as morally dubious that maybe the Warden wouldn't be too keen on?

Haha- I'm imagining Morrigan as the original Terminator, walking into the police station with sunglasses and a leather jacket, and right as she's about to go into the Eluvian, turns around and goes: "I'll be back."

Yeah, supposedly the Tevinter mages had Arlathan under seige I think and basically used tons and tons of blood magic to sink the whole city. Although I believe the elves of that time used blood magic too- I'd have to check on that.

I posted this crazy theory in the DA2 forum, but I'll repost it here as it pertains to Mirror World and Morrigan

Maybe Arlathan disappeared because the Elves basically used the Eluvian type technology to just up and take the whole city  some place else? Now maybe that someplace else is the Fade- kind of how  the Baroness uprooted Blackmarsh? So maybe in the process of uprooting  all Arlathan, the city was tainted as it sort of settled in the Fade and became the Black City?

Or maybe when Arlathan disappeared or was  sunken by the Tevinters, it actually went to the Mirror World, so the  place where Morrigan, the Old God baby and possibly the Warden are  headed at the end of Witch Hunt is actually Arlathan preserved in the  Mirror World?

I don't mind the Deep Roads necessarily- its just that the level design was terribly boring as it turned into a boring, monotonous corridor crawl. The sections like th Dead Trenches or the opening area of Kal Hirol in Awakening were I though very cool looking and made the Deep Roads fun. So add in some better lighting like DA2 should have and hopefully you'll get a more atmospheric and more varied Deep Roads.

actually, i hate the term blood magic. The phrase itself describes the use of magic by using blood instead of magical energy, enabling even non mages to use magic. The chantry, on the other hand, codemns all kind of magic that is not approved by her as blood magic, and its users as blood mages. Thereby, shapeshifting, while not involving the use of blood, would still be considered blood magic by templars. That sometimes makes it difficult to differentiate. I guess when Morrigan said about the ritual it involes blood magic but we know that not all blood magic is bad, she is not talking about actual blood magic that involves blood, but just magic that is not chantry approved.
It would be much easier if we could just use magic to describe all kinds of magic and blood magic to just describe magic that involves blood. Hopefully, after that damn chantry is in ruins that will be the case...

if you take a look at the ancienct elven lore in your codex, there are some striking similarities between Arlathan, the black city, and the tale surrounding it. I am certain there is more than just a little connection between both, and i wouldn't be surprised at all if its the very same story, just told by a different culture.

Yeah, some parts of the DR are nice. But they are few, and the rest.... I mean come one, the DR are longest single chapter in the game. There is close to no party banter, all areas look alike. To me, it should either be short or more interesting breaks in between like the Dead Trenches, or Hespith. Thats the only time the DR really are close to be a little scary, like i felt they should always be...
The rest, just endless walls will lots of red paint

Wait, just a question about the Black City, because statements here are contradicting what I know from lore...

Isn't the Black City the former Golden City, the seat of the Maker?

Unless everyone is saying Arlathan IS the Golden City, which was the seat of the Maker before the Tevinter Mages corrupted it and turned it into the Black City.

According to the chantry, the black city is the former golden city of the maker, that was corrupted by the Tevinter mages who entered it and became the first darkspawn. That is chantry lore.

The elven do not talk about the maker, they just have their city, Arlathan, that was destroyed and became lost. That is their lore, and only that is part of the DA lore.

People are just speculating, if you look at both stories, they are so much alike that there could be a connection to it. But that is not part of the official lore, so this is just speculation. Fuled, of course, by the fact that the chantry, unlike religions in other rpgs, are not selling the truth about a present god that infleunces the world, but a religion not unlike our own where its much about belief and interpreting certain historic events in a very special way.

Ahh, ic. Thanks a bunch for clearing that up. And honestly, your bottom paragraph would make sense, as the elves and the humans each have one supreme deity (the Creator and the Maker, respectively), even though the elves have other demigods of certain things. The Chantry's behaviour thus far in Dragon Age reminds me a lot of the history of the Catholic Church, both the good and the bad about it.

I guess one could possibly guess that Morrigan may seek the secrets of the ancient elves to gain some sort of immortality, because otherwise she may not be powerful enough to face Flemeth in her lifetime (Flemeth has had a few centuries to gain power whereas Morrigan has, I assume, an average mage's lifespan and will need on ancient secrets to combat her).

Of course thats just a guess. Either way, the implied connection between the Chantry and Arlathan is quite interesting...

Neva!  But that scene still sends chills up my spine.Posted Image  Some badass Warden, huh? Posted Image

Anyhoo, was browsing the game shelves this evening and was actually browsing PC games.  Found The Witcher (complete) for $29 and almost shelled it out for PC ME2.  I did buy Nier as Terra_Ex suggested, but got it for the 360.

I talked to the kid at the counter who said he was a huge DA fan and we exchanged experiences and pleasantries then he told me "I'm so looking forward to DA2 dude," and added "I can't wait bro."  He and the other monkey behind the other register were dudin' it up and high fivin' happier than a pair of sissies on a battleship. Resisting the natural impulse to jump across the counter and go for the throats, I simply said very JOKINGLY: "Ah, c'mon man, Hawke looks like a 10 year old boy trying to play soldier compared to our Wardens...He seems a fraud by comparison...and what's with that whole nose blood paint thing?  Is he just missing the mark with his mascara?"  You could have heard a pin drop.

Well, you'd thought I killed his dog.  I swear I thought the kid closest to me was going to cry.  I reiterated I was kidding (of course, I wasn't), took my game and walked out.

Thanks to Terra_Ex's "game suggestion," I found myself in the heart of enemy territory at Gamestop.

EDIT: BTW, Terra_Ex, how about a full length shot of Morrigan in that outfit?

Thats the brilliant thing with PC gaming too- just download your games off of Steam! Seriously, wait for a good Steam sale and you can get most PC games dirt cheap.

And while we're off topic, if anyone likes genuinely scary horror games, try out Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Holy moly, I've been playing the demo on Steam and that is one creepy game. Yahtzee's review perfectly sums up my feelings on it. And its always good to help out indie developers that actually make different games that are awesome too- I mean 5 people made this game, thats amazing.

Anyway, back to Morrigan!

Hahaha, fantastic retelling barbarossa :) I know people who claim to be "big fans" as well, said sages also
ignore character quests/optional dialogues/romances and just hammer
through the main plot asap. But yeah, 'tis like talking to a brick wall, it's like they don't even bother to think about the ramifications of some of the changes but are instead elated that a new game is coming out that happens to have a particular title. But I'm too tired to rant about that now.

Be sure to stick with Nier, 'tis a slow starter, things should start to pick up around the time you visit the manor, and the 2nd playthrough is essential for the plot twist and additional character development. Oh yeah, before you get really angry a few hours in - the ingame tutorial for fishing plain sucks - find a mini-guide on gamefaqs or something in order to pass the mandatory quest involving it. Apart from that it's smooth sailing.

I shall check it out, especially since most horror titles have been going rapidly downhill of late due to the obsession with, oh what's this - non-stop action. I miss the days of the old Silent Hills and RE games. DeadSpace was the only title in recent that struck a decent balance between action and horror elements, but a lot of that (for me at least) comes from playing with a 5.1 setup.

Yeah, Amnesia has no action- in the sense that you hear or see monster coming, you run like hell, bar the door and hide in the closet and hope it goes away. And the sound is fantastic in it- your 5.1 will be wonderful. If you;ve played the Penumbra games its a lot like that, but it reminds me a bit of Silent Hill 2 as well, in that its pretty damn scary. Definitely the kind of game you need to play alone, in the dark with the sound up.

That's so wrong about Dog! The Warden would take him out in a flash. Besides, Morri is a red blooded woman who dug the Warden as she scoped him out while shapeshifted into an animal in the Korcari Wilds...

Oh god! I know the Tali love is mad! like wow. I'll stick with Morrigan, even though the Witch Hunt DLC was a disapointment. Cassandra in DA2, seems to be a Morrigan wanna-be, except she's got her own sword! Posted Image

Well who doesn't like Alistair? Posted Image
Some people don't seem to like Morrigan, because of her "attitude" but meh she was raised by Flemeth, so its excusable. Posted Image

I take it that this thread has been locked before?
