@ Barbarossa: The 360 patch is finally available. Took em long enough.

Thanks soundchaser.  Next time I fire it up, I'll get an automatic download and will actually know what it is!

Thanks again.

I thought you were moving up to the hallowed halls of PC gaming, Barbarossa. *Terra_Ex remembers that his hard drive has just died and falls silent*

I have migrated to some extent, but I still have 5 full playthroughs trapped on the 360 that I won't forsake.  I'm still waiting for Ultimate before I move DA to PC and basically start over (again).  I did buy ME2 for PC just to get the feel back, figuring it'll be a snap to play through in 25 or 30 hours.  BTW, Nier is a fun game.  Good call.  Stupid wolves and fishing drive me near bats#!t crazy, but Kaine is memorable.

Now I gotta get Nier... dammit... I read "Laura Bailey" and I was sold. Damn my Bloodrayne/Lust fixation.

But yes I'll keep this in mind for future installments. :)

Hmm, I don't recall her ever doing so in-game and I believe there might be something in the toolset regarding her speech (can't check atm due to busted PC). The choice is your own however, I'm just a stickler for keeping characters in-character.

Ah, I have abandoned my 360 characters now. simply knowing how much missing/bugged stuff is there I couldn't go back to playing that version. I thought Ultimate was out already?

Nier will shine the most when you hit the 2nd playthrough, you'll see. Nier handles the second playthrough in a special way, so you won't literally have to do everything all over again but I don't want to spoil it. Suffice it to say you haven't truly finished the game till you've done the 2nd playthrough (and there's still 2 additional endings beyond that.) Where abouts are you in the game atm?

I did warn you about fishing headaches (I too wasted an hour of my life on that particular annoyance - wrong beach)- it's pretty easy once you grasp how it works but the game simply doesn't explain it properly.

No arguments here, she's definitely up there with Claudia when it comes to voiceovers and does an amazing job with Kaine, just as she did with Lust in FMA.

Actually work got hella busy as it usually does once the weekend is over. Seeing as how there is only like 2 hours of work in my 8 hours shift. So basically I sit around listening to mp3s until inspiration hits and then I jam out on the keyboard 1000 words and then paste into the forums here. I do like 0 editing other than the spellcheck gmail offers as my work computer has no proper word processing program.

But yes it was really busy and this is kind of the transition section from talky talky to the action I promised. If nobody really cared for The Fade sequence in DAO no one is gonna like The Void in this.

I haven't gone back over the previous segments thoroughly yet so I'm not sure where I stuck the contraction but if I had to hazard a guess it was somewhere where Omen was talking. If so then I was groovin' in the Omen zone and the jumping to another character mid thought (again I literally simply type this out and then throw it up on the forums and DA when I"m finished, No editing unless I catch something glaring when before I hit the submit button.) But yeah I think I'll go with your suggestion and stay pure formal. Morrigan makes even a "sten" No sound sexy.

I just checked the toolset and in Morrigan's character page thing there is this regarding her speech:

Morrigan does not use contractions and speaks in what almost sounds like poetic verse.

But I almost wonder if thats sort of old, as I recall Gaider saying he initially started Morrigan talking like Delirium in Neil Gaiman's Sandman series, but that didn't work. I know he posted that on the forums a while back but here is a more recent interview where he says the same:

Morrigan was different. Morrigan was hard to write.

It’s funny. When I first started writing her I was going to this…I don’t know if you’ve ever read this comic series called Sandman? There’s a character named Delirium who was one of the Endless. When I  first started writing Morrigan I was making her like Delirium in the  way she talked and kind of out there. She never knew what planet she  was on necessarily.

And again, that wasn’t working. Then I went to a sort of more of a  hard-edged and it was hard to find that place where OK, for the person  who’s romancing her, they have to feel like they got through that armor  where nobody else could. And I think I found it and that was very  gratifying to find, but it was a hard character to write. A very, very  hard character to write.

Kind of wondering though again with the reveal of Isabela's new face and visual retcon, what they'd do with Morrigan should she show up "hot rod samurai'd"?

I've got to get New Vegas as most of the DA2 stuff just bums me out. The trailer today just seemed like some action movie, not DA. Oh well.

I'll just add some Flemeth from the new trailer since thats most definitely Morri related:wizard::

I've been playing Fallout New vegas for two days straight. With the occasional toilet break. There is only two games in the world that have got me to stay in the house over 24hours.

Modern Warfare 2, when it was realeased.
Dragon Age Origins.

It's funny because I had never heard of Dragon Age before in my life. Until I was on xbox live chatting to some mates who were playing it. I was like... So what's it about? They told me that had a medevil setting and my first reastion was like....."Meh I'll pass."

Then one summers day I was bored, and decided to go round to his house and borrow it from him for a couple of hours. I ended up keeping it for a week lol. Eventually I went to my local GAME shop and bought myself one, and have loved it ever since....until DA2.
I'm actually glad Morrigan isn't showing up in DA2....save it for DA3, When the Warden returns! Plus I'm pretty certain they would just end up screwing up her appearence.
I'm worried about, this ten year spanning thing. On one hand I don't want Morrigan showing up again, old a wrinkly, and on the other I do, because the godbaby would be old enough to be included.

They very well could screw up her look graphically or artistically whenever she comes back, but I doubt they'd make her old and nasty looking in only ten years time. At best she'd be mid to late 30s and half of Morrigan's appeal to Joe Bro Gamer is that "DURRR DaT WiTch izz HAWT!"

That got me thinking: Do we have a definite age for morrigan? I'd assume mid to late twenties, early thirties at the latest. And I hope to god they don't screw up her appearance when she returns, minor tweaks will obviously be necessary, but I don't want to see morrigan show up with a studded leather bra looking like an extra from "Mad Max". I shudder at the very thought.

I don't really care about how she looks. It's just that ten years would have passed...I mean wouldn't the Warden be dead from the taint? Don't they live to 30? Posted Image
Plus we would miss ten years of Morrigan! Ten! Imagine what could happen within those ten years. BIG CHANGES.
It also would be interesting to see if Morrigan eventually shares her plans with the Warden, and all those dirty secrets she hides from him.

They live for up to 30 years after the joining, not until they're 30.

Late twenties at the end of Origins I think.

Oh! that reminds me what age would the godbaby be in Witch Hunt? I'm confused when it comes to Origins timeline. Does it span between the starting Origins to Ostagar?

I've always assumed mid-twenties myself, thirty at the most. I've heard people throw out the early thirties figure but that's never made sense to me.

Thirty years AFTER they take the Joining. So they've probably got until fifty, give or take a decade depending on how old they were when they take and their own ability to resist the Taint.

Speaking of which, does anybody know how long the main plot of Origins supposedly takes? I've heard everything from several months up to two years.

Two years is too long.  To break it down:

Arguments for it being a year:

Dwarf origins (both): A baby is conceived either just before you leave (DNM) or sometime after (DC) and born in the time you're away.
Mage: Wynne will mention you've been away from the circle for nearly a year.

Arguments for it being a few months:

City Elf -- when you get to Denerim, it's under lockdown.  That would be a seriously long time for a lockdown.
All Origins: Soris mentions being locked up for months if he's imprisoned (not that it would be easy for him to tell time I suppose).
All origins: There is a mention that Arl Howe had a record for the shortest time as an Arl of Denerim, though he took it over very soon after the revolts started.  It's jokingly said 10 days.
HN (well, all of them really): Some soldiers will mention that there are still corpses all over Highever castle.  It's hard to believe there would be no cleanup at all, though it may be slow.

A few months just seems too short a time for all this to occur, in my mind, especially when you take travel times into account.

I've always figured somewhere around one year was the most reasonable.

I know that Gaider said in the old forums that Morrigan is late twenties to early thirties. I'd probably put her at 27 or so, personally.

Well as far as the God Baby goes, WH is supposed to be one year after killing the Archdemon, so that would put the God Baby as being several months old, I'd guess. But within WH there are some inconsistencies when you see the descriptions for Denerim and Vigil's Keep which both make references to "years after the Archdemon" or "some time after the Mother's attack" or something like that, which makes it seem like maybe more time than one year has passed since the end of Origins.

I'd guess its about 1 year give or take a couple months for the events of Origins. Then its a couple months between the end of Origins and the start of Awakening, with Awakening taking  several months time. And then Witch Hunt taking place about 1 year post Origins or about 2 years since the beginning of Origins. So we'd already be about 2 years into Hawke's 10 year story by the time of Witch Hunt.

I'd hope the devs clarify Origins' timeline a bit better though, especially since it seems as if DA is all about the timeline now.

If you read in the WH map what is written about Amaranthine / Vigil's Keep. IT says it's been two years since the crisis there. It's either a mistake, or there indeed was an expansion planned and they forgot to cut this out.

Actually, WH is all over the place when it comes to the timeline.

On the product page it says a year since the archdemon died.

On the map, if you mouse over Amaranthine, it says 2 years since the mother died.

If you mouse over Denerim, it says it's been years since the archdemon was slain.

The timeline in DA:O is totally fubared.

Edit: snipped and I want to add that I think it's probably about 9 months for the whole of Origins, a bit longer if you're a dwarf.  It just doesn't feel much longer than that.

I just gotta' say, that new DA video looked like a commercial spot.

And Izzy's visual retcon has me wondering if I should do yet ANOTHER DA run with a modded Izzy to closer resemble her DA2 appearance, or if I should just wait and mod her in DA2 to look more like she did in Origins...

If they do a visual retcon/revamp of Morrigan they may as well call several fire departments to extinguish the flames that arise from that.

It wouldn't surprise me if there was supposed to be another DLC/EP before Witch Hunt that got canned, and the timeline errors are a result of that. Oh well, it's probably not the last time the timeline gets jacked up...

I wouldn't say it's totally FUBAR - it's really just Witch Hunt (what else could Morrigan fans expect?). We know that the timeline goes Origins ---> Awakening ---> Amgarrak, and that the three of those probably take about two years to get through.

So the problem is really just deciding when the hell WH takes place, and I have a feeling that it won't matter in the long run since Hawke's exploits take place concurrently and then run past it.

I think BioWare should of finished the Origins story with another expansion. With maybe a Morrigan quest or something.....But then again that might not work, because there building up to something with Morrigan's story. They constantly tease us with it, and bride us to by DA2.

Witch Hunt should of had more questions answered. There also should of been more Morrigan screen time. Bassically the ending was like..."BUY DA2 SO YOU CAN FIND OUT WHAT FLEMETH IS UP TO!"

ME: "No! BioWare I want to know what Morrigan is up to!"

We didn't even get to see the book.......I bet it shows up in DA2 though. -_-

Origins just feels unfinished to me.
