Well they haven't confirmed DA3, so they technically didn't confirm much. But they did say that they want to continue or deal with Morrigan in future DA installements, should they happen. At least I think they did.

No it hasn't been confirmed, but we're just speculating off of what the devs are saying still, like that one interview iwth Laidlaw at Gamescom where he said that DA2 was setting up future stories, like Morrigan's.

Oh and on the same line of thought with Morrigan showing up in DA2 or DA3 or whenever looking completely different, well yeah, per Gaider in this thread:

Any character from DAO is going to look  different, yes. We can't simply import their face and appearance, or  they would look very much out of place next to the new models and art  style. So if and when we do them, they're face needs to be re-made using the new face morphing system and they need to use existing body/armor models (unless they're getting a unique one, like Flemeth has).

As to how much they change, that really depends. If they were a major  character in DAO, I don't think we'd want to change them significantly-- not unless their role in DA2 were likewise significant. Otherwise it'd  make the point of a cameo a bit moot, wouldn't it? But if, say, Sten  were going to reappear he'd need to conform to the new qunari appearance (although he still wouldn't have horns, since not all qunari do).

I'm sure that inevitably even minor differences will result in some people  going "OMG THAT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE X AT ALL!" and "YOU KILLED KENNY!" and so forth, but there you go. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]

Ugh...I can see it now, we'll have a new hot rod samurai Morrigan cameo with her voice recasted with some other voice actor cause they couldn't get Claudia Black back...

But seriously, I don't understand why you revamp or completely re-do your face morph system such that its impossible to make existing characters look the same. Can you imagine ME2 where they totally change what Garrus and all the Turians look like and give them all horns? Ugh...given my dislike for the new art style and how it looks in-game I just hope Morrigan doesn't have anything to do with DA2 and that by the time she comes back into the picture, BioWare has their artistic vision/technology sorted out...ugh.

I take that as meaning that Morrigan, should she appear in the future, will have the same voice actor. Unless Gaider honestly believes that most people don't care about it. That would almost make me rage.

As for her looks. I would prefer if she remained unchanged, but I kind of accepted the inevitable and am hoping that they won't change much. So we'll see I guess. I am mostly waiting for polished DA2 screens and videos, to see where the art direction is going exactly.

Yeah, surely BioWare wouldn't be so dense as to recast arguably one of the biggest characters of DA. I absolutely would nerd rage if they messed with Claudia Black's voice though...grrrr....

As I've said, they can change her clothes or hair and all that, but there is no good excuse to change her face beyond simply aging it if thats whats called for. I'd have hoped they'd have thought things through enough with their new face morph system that they could have been able to import Origins faces into it, but apparently not.

And yeah, I really want to see some more finished product type screens and videos because its like anytime someone on the DA2 forums lets loose a "meh" in regards to these supposed upgraded graphics, its the same "oh the game isn't done yet" response or "oh thats Varric's exaggeration."

I could rant right now I think, but I'll just say that from the gameplay changes to the ME style presentation to the shorter length to the hot rod samurai art style- DA2 doesn't seem like a sequel, it feels like a reboot.

That pictures rather nice....and yeah in a lot of ways it feels like DA2 is going to be drastically different then DAO but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
