Hey all, another latecomer to the party here.Just finished the entire arc (even if awakening was just awful) with my main man, Theron the dale elf warrior who was also head over heels for Morrigan. The story got kinda cute with how opposite but similar the two were, with both being raised in the wilds and its harsh laws but the dale being very communal as opposed to the hermit ways of Flemeth and Morri.Maybe i just got lucky with my choices, but the ending was just beautiful with both of them stepping through the eluvian and fitted the my story of the romance and the pair incredibly well.A happy ending if there ever was one, and a nice way to close the book on the Warden.
Anyways, thats my intro to the Morri thread. So hi2u o/

Welcome Roamingmachine to THE THREAD, yeah I think it closes nicely though short for the DLC the book on the Warden (IF it is trully his end and he will no longer appear in future games) but I'm still hopeful as with those things religions count on to keep us believing...what do they call it?...ah yeah! Faith, I still have that thing for DA3.

I also got lucky with my choices and to be honest it wasn't difficult at all playing the game and not losing significant approval from Morrigan and I kept many of the gifts in the party chest at Soldier's Keep.

Now I'm just starting a new gameplay just to import that one to DA2 without alistair as King,  Loghain alive and Anora as sole Queen.  I'm more interested to see how Varric will tell that story along with Hawke's.

As
a side note, did anyone else notice Morrigan greeting the Dog quite
warmly at the eluvian despite their previous friction? (well, friction
meaning that Morri didn't like dogs :P) I liked how that little thing
showed how far Morrigan had come as a person :)
Anyways, thats my intro to the Morri thread. So hi2u o/

Welcome Roamingmachine.

Don't
let Morri fool you, she's got a real weakness for that dog, as
evidenced by the banter between them. It's no coincidence that the
mabari goes to Morrigan when begging for a snack and the witch caves in
every time.

Here's a short comic that does a great job of showing the relationship between Morri and Dog:

And it is mutual I'd say, The Mabari also loves Morrigan because he does care for her well being, in his point of view the mabari cares for Morrigan to be well fed so he brings a dead hare and put it in her unmentionables...that's good puppy love  and friend helping the Warden in the case she might go without them.

The Dog cares for her, tries to feed her, helps the Warden to find her and is glad when they do find her. The Mabari are indeed clever.

I bet Finn and Ariane will take care of him.

If not, he'll be back in Denerim siring whole litters of cute mabari puppies!

I have a feeling that those of us who played witch hunt will hear this rumor:

Ben: So did you hear what old Biff said?

Bill: Eh what did he say?

Ben: Some whiny little mage was getting dragged around by this dalish while they were asking about some ruins.

Had the biggest Mabari you ever saw with them too.

Bill: Biff is full of it, next you are going to tell me he saw a Darkspawn Bandit saving people with his merry band of nugs!

Glad you enjoyed the game the way many of us Morri romancers did. Hopefully, we haven't seen the end of her and her story gets picked back up in DA3.

Depending on just how long after the blight DA2 takes place, we could be meeting the child as an adult. That alone would be quite an experience and if done right might sate some of the more...eager Morri fans :P Anything is better than what they did in ME2 with the random emails and other assorted crap that basically negated most of your choices.

Oh, come on!

Who fell for that marketing gymic?!

They told us before Witch Hunt was announced that Morrigan will be back in a future DA game. With that in mind who would honestly believe they'll spill the beans in a $7 DLC?

Witch Hunt was pure fanservice to all those who liked Morrigan and/or romanced her in DA:O. It was only ever ment to give us a proper closure. Apart from that it was a good piece of DLC, giving you a bit of everything that was great in DA:O: nice new party members, references to numerous things from Origins and Awakening, references to DA2, a chance to see how some places changed (or didn't change), a nice little story and a chance to have a happy ending with Morri.

Not bad at all for $7.

Um, we all did?

That whole 'Morrigans secret's revealed!' in nice, huge letters accross the marketing banner kind of lead you to a way of thinking that was completely counter to the direction of the DLC.

As they say, 'We wuz hoodwinked!'

Well yes, but the fact that lead writer himself tells you that they're not yet done with Morrigan and that she'll be back makes me think they wouldn't reveal all her secrets in one DLC. Otherwise, what is there left to tell in DA3?
Not to mention they removed that banner as soon as Brock brought it up with Gaider.
I only serves to prove that Bioware's marketing department is completely out of touch with the stuff they're supposed to promote.

I can understand that people who don't visit these forums would fall for it and feel cheated, but those of us who post here regularly had ample warnings that this might not be true.

But I expected something- not just one big "Thank you Warden! But our Old God Baby is in another dimension!" Followed by Morrigan basically wagging her finger at you refusing to answer any questions of substance, even though you can follow her through the Eluvian with no problem and no fuss.

I half expected Morrigan to bust out with "Ah ah ah, you didn't say the magic word!"

And as for the claims we'll see Morrigan again in the future...well, I'm not holding my breath. Devs say things. Things change. Laidlaw once claimed on the DA2 forums when the brouhaha over the tactical camera in DA2 broke out that " the key to tactical play was actually freeing your camera from the character you're controlling to issue precise norders." And of course, DA2 has no free roaming tactical camera, just  the ability to zoom out not as far as Origins. Or how BioWare claimed we'd have something awesome on 2/1/2011. Or even if we see Morrigan again, they might pull an Anders...I mean "Janders" on us except with Morrigan/Flemeth or some such rubbish. (See DA2 Anders stuff from today for Janders info).

I enjoyed WH well enough, don't get me wrong. But the BioWare that made Origins is not the same BioWare thats working on DA2.I want to believe that they won't screw up her story or that of the Warden, but my faith in BioWare is about all used up.

Sure, things change in game development all the time, but I kind of doubt Laidlaw would keep repeating the same thing over and over again unless he's certain it'll happen. The camera thing doesn't really fit here because it's a gameplay thing which can and will inevitably change between titles. Morrigan coming back is a part of the story and while I don't expect her to be exactly the same as she was in Witch Hunt (time passed, new engine = possible new look but similar to what was there before, possible new powers gained in Eluvian, etc.) I still believe she will be there and will remember everything that happened between her and my Warden.

I thought Biff was the Templar who made the funniest sounds when the darkspawn killed him in the Raid at Vigil's Keep. ;)

Though, TBH something like that might be the most you'd hear about that entire relationship. Not even the denizens of Ferelden mentioned much about it, and this is something that involved a local celebrity.

I couldn't agree more.

I didn't take me long to learn to read between the lines when it comes to BiowarEA.  They hope that if they keep putting Morrigan's name out there enough times that enough suckers will buy into it and end up buying the games.

Oh, and Shiori, $7  for WH was exteremely overpriced.  It would have been a rip-off if it was free.  I don't appreciate having to pay good money to be lied to ("All your questions answered!!"...not).

She'll be back. The "big way" = redesigned and reinvented just like every other recurring character. <_<

From the Department of Old News:

Just finished Awakening. Anyone else find it worrisome that the Architect explains that darkspawn seek the Old Gods and when they find one, it starts a Blight? Morrigan had claimed that Archdemons were corrupted Old Gods. What if they're one and the same? And OGB is the beginning of the next Blight . . . .?

Meh. I've decided to completely ignore EA's marketing when it comes to their copywriting. =_=

"Morrigan's secrets revealed." Then "Fight like a Spartan. Think like a general" and "when you push a button, something awesome happens!" XD

and here's some OGB art. XD

Speaking of the OGB, do you guys think that in terms of looks, he will look like his mother and father, or as the god of beauty, he'd assume his own form? Or maybe as the god of beauty he judges Morrigan's and the Warden's phenotypes to be adequate? xD

Hopefully they won't abandon or ruin the OGB sub-plot, I have high hopes for him.

Don't you think that's a bit idealistic Knight? :P

I wouldn't mind my the God Child taking over Thedas, but eh...the reality is that it's a choice that many didn't take I think ( since a LOT of people hate Morrigan ).

Very idealistic in fact, but quite frankly that's what's keeping me in the franchise right now. The possibility of some continuity that would make DA a real engaging franchise rather than a collection of loosely associated games that we've all played before. But eh, it's more hopes rather than expectations (expects someone to post the Eomer pic).

Actually, I think even if there's a portion of the gamers who hate Morrigan, they still did the DR. And if you look outside the forums, there were many people who raised their concern over what happened to the OGB and Morrigan. Plus the way Bioware is moving right now, if they see that there is a lot of potential in the OGB story, they'd still take it even if it would mean angering those who want to honor their US'd-no-DR-hence-no-OGB Warden save games.

The way I see it, it's a damn shame if Bioware is just gonna put this plotline under the rug.
