I think most of these cameos are done just to somehow draw the attention of those specific characters' fanbases. Like we've said, it's starting to shape up to be KOTOR 2 all over again, and the Warden is Revan. I'm now starting to wonder how much we're going to hear about him. Year 9:31 or 9:32 is one thing, but are people still going to rant and rave about him in year 9:39?

Yeah, KOTOR2 style cameos that just toss in old characters for the hell of it make little sense, especially if all they serve is to alienate and ****** all over the choices made by the player in Origins.

I guess how often the Warden is mentioned might depend on how involved the Wardens are involved.

Swoo wrote...

Google failed me. The Zevran one, is that a release picture? Please tell
me it's not. I could live with it being from an alpha, but if that
shipped...shudder.

Leliana in DA2 -POTENTIAL SPOILERS!!!!

They seem to have botched her nose up pretty good- if it wasn't for the hair, I don't know that you'd recognize her really.

Edit: 'd !

Swoo wrote...
I guess it hinges on Morrigan as far as the  Warden is concerned, DR or no DR. It seems the darkspawn will be
involved in some way, shape, or form in Flemeth and Morrigan's little  cosmic chess game, so as long as there are darkspawn and a threat of a  Blight, there's still a use for an experienced, victorious Warden.

Maybe.

Reading some of the spoilers, I'm a little surprised how much the Wardens/darkspawn still play a role in DA2. As I see it, if any future story has anything to do with Wardens, darkspawn or Morrigan in a major way, there is no reason not to bring the Warden back in some capacity.

Lord_Anthonior wrote...

Zevran does look to be high with  those eyes hehehe. I really don't care for the rest of the characters  only Morrigan, the may look as they want but Morrigan...she MUST be  unchangeable.

Don't look at the picture if you are a Zevran fan  if not hehehee by all means. I'm in a waiting room in the hospital and  thank God I have internet, my Father is going through a serious heart  operation so to lighten the stress and worries I have during this entire week I'm glad that I manage to come here for a while. I may not support the templars but I do believe in the Maker as I believe in God so as it is time for DA3 and Morrigan reappearence it's also a time for waiting  the operation goes well.

I'm quite glad of the cameos and even glad for what I've just seen that Morrigan is not in DA2, at the moment
I'm high on faith and hope so I hope and have faith that Morrigan will  be okay for the next game.

Yup all we can do is hope that BioWare gets their art department and character designers in order for whenever Morrigan comes back.

Hope your father is doing ok!:wizard:

Well ladies and gentlemen, my decision clock for the number of times I'll be playing this game is firmly set to once unless something amazing happens. Poor Zevran... Leliana's new armor is worrisome, and god forbid they do anything worse to Alistair or Morrigan in this game.

Truly, I weep for what this intellectual property is becoming.

Someone should get a picture of Morrigan planting a facepalm. That pic would probably have a lengthy longevity period.

Bad news (Spoilers).

This is the pic of an Origins companion making a cameo in DA2. Obvious spoilers.

Now I am really worried about Morrigan's look. More than ever, I do not want her to show up in DA2.

Kill. It. With. Fire.

WTF BioWare. You take elves looking something humanoid and turn them into anorexic Na'vi's. I really feel bad for the Zevran fans. Its not enough they likely retcon the endings now, but they screw up Zevran's face. I mean, he looks like a strung out drug addict. *sigh*

/shakes head in disgust

I really do not understand the logic. Did it go something like this?

A: "Hey man, I feel our elves are boring"
B: "Hmmmm, shall we give them bigger ears?"
A: "Naaa, it's not unique. We need our own identity and fresh ideas"
B: "How about....we make them look like Na'vi? Everyone thought they looked cool"
A: "Genius! Yes, everyone loved them! I am sure that way we could express our point that the elves are poor and oppressed much better!"
B: "But on second thought, what about being uni..."
A: "I said genius. Discussion is over."

Really, I'd much rather they just copy Warcraft elves, if that's the product of their "creativity".

I mean, this looks more like an elf!

Posted Image

I really can't make fun of Cammen anymore.

Its hard to tell in the one of Leliana, but IMO, both she and Anders suffer the same bloated/jutting jaw look that every single person in this game has.

Yea, they all look like potato heads.

I just really hope that the game doesn't devolve into a Mages= good! Chantry/Templars=Bad! as thats really what it seems like its going to boil down to...

Yep, that's what I am afraid of as well. Before, I was worried about the Qunari getting villanized. Now I am worried vis a vis the Templars / Chantry as well.

But still, I am glad Morrigan is not in this game all told. She seems to have escaped one disaster by ducking off into the Eluvian.:wizard:

Eh, maybe the "change" she is referring to is a change oin art direction for DA3? That's why she left until then?
She's a genius

BTW I just now realized that Bioware might have been using Morrigan for subliminal messaging. "Sometimes change, is what they need". Yea, we don't need all the changes you made Bio.

wow... I wasn't too weirded out with the new elf design and the weird-ass ear shape before, but looking at a character I knew now (Zevran), the new redesign does look quite dumb now :pinched:. I also feel sorry for the Zev fans out there. Thankfully, I won't have to see this in my first playthrough (or second), because my first and second Wardens had Zevran killed at some point :P. That said, I want to see the new Leliana, too, so if anyone has a link for it, or can tell me where to look, I would be thankful.

As for Morrigan, if this is the art direction they're sticking with, then I've pretty much begrudgingly accepted that Morrigan will get an "uber-extreme" makeover as well. The key thing for me is if they retain some of the things that make her... well... her. Face structure will probably change a bit, but as long as she has a few facial characteristics that identify her as herself, I'll be happy. I'm not sure how I feel about the hair, though if her clothing and whatnot is changed, maybe her hairstyle should remain the same. I honestly don't know. Whats your opinion on it, everyone?

regardless, I guess I'm just saying little things for Morrigan they need to keep to make sure its still her.

Damnit, the loss of hope is still prevalent here, hehe . Oh man... if we got SOME indication early on that the Warden's story would still matter and not be thrown out like spoiled milk, then I would more enthusiastically brave DA2 and even immediately buy it. But after my feelings about the demo (which are just so damn weird), I don't know what to think of it, so I have to rent it (probably at Blockbuster, and not return it for a while therefore incurring dollar-a-day charges because I can't afford monthy fee for Gamefly) in the hopes that there is something about it later on that will convince me that I want to buy it, because right now, there are plenty of other games that deserve my cash and I get so little of it nowadays so I need to spend wisely.

Just saw Leliana, she doesn't look so bad to be honest, even almost as in the original but with even less make up than before. I'm now interested to see how the companions moved on with their lives after the Blight and away from what the epilogue might have said or didn't said. Interesting to see her with that person in that picture... "The plot Thickens". ?

If Sten is going to appear as well, I hope they don't make Hawke to "deal" with him, just as easy as to offer him some cookies and that's it. Going to a Kirkwall Bakery and get the cookies...and cookies! not a cake, the cake is a lie. :D

Thanks Brock, no word yet but hopes and faith are high, appreciate it!

Woah... that Zev screen shocked me.

Did the DAO team give up the project and left a bunch of monkeys in charge? The whole point of changing something is to make it better, but almost everything about this game is changing for the worse.

I guess we should be happy that Morrigan and the Warden got away. Good for them.

You know, that looks so familiar. It reminds me of the mod on DA Nexus, Leliana's Sacred Chantry Outfit or something like that. She looks...exactly the same really. Could have been an Origins SS imo. Well, a modded one, but still.

You've obviously spoiled yourself silly Brock, tell me, did the Warden have a place in this game? Because they keep saying he didn't, but 90% of what comes out is just leaves me scratching my head going 'and I'm not in this game, why?'

Honestly, from what I've seen this engine doesn't look any different than Origins. So, I'm not completely terrified of Morrigan 2.0 unless they intentionally want to muck with her appearance ala Zev. She may have a new outfit and maybe a new 'do (which could be D.March status for some people I guess), but nothing seems like it would be drastic and you'd go 'Oh, oh no. What have you done?!' (Like Zev.)

And everyone should have known by now, The Chantry IS evil. Viva la resistance, viva la magus!

Until I finish the game I'll say that I'm glad that Morrigan wasn't in DA2, because even without Cladia Black being on the cast, they could very well just show her without saying a word and no one knows at the moment it could be kept under wraps :bandit:. I'm just considering all the options until I get to see the full game hehehe, Morrigan with another 'do...<_< perhaps...:? maybe another outfit...most interesting if the land beyond is a more tropical or heated place, for the time being I'm content the parents are busy training an OGB kid.

La Chantry IS evil! I second la Viva resistence and viva la magus, after all THIS thread is about the best Magi the game offers so probably all in here are allied with the Magus.

And don't forget any DA2 additional campaigns - she could make appearances in those as well. I wonder just how much of the DA2 community has already forgotten all about Morrigan anyway... Witch Hunt was released about 5 months ago and there's been a slew of DA2 revelations since then. Morrigan could easily take the Richie Cunningham route (or was it Eddie?) and few would even notice.

Speaking of appearances, what's Hawke going to look like if he's to be in DA3? Chances are, it's going to be on a slightly different engine again, which would affect any Hawkes with CC.

Nah, you're just a heretic that mods Morrigan's face, Swoo. You blasphemer.=]

I don't care for what they did to Anders' face as he looks like he's in a boy band now or something. I'll just have to wait and see how they look in game. I just don't understand why they'd make a new face morph system where you can't  remake Origins faces exactly- maybe more detailed and such- I wouldn't mind if they change hair styles or outfits,, but if you do that then the facial structure needs to be mostly the same.

Anyway, if the CC in the demo is anything like the final one, I think it'll be tough to recreate Morrigan. Admittedly I only tried briefly so I'm sure somebody could do better, but here is my quick attempt:

Posted Image
Posted Image

Maybe its the preset I worked off of, but its very hard if not impossible to get the overall shape of Morrigan's face in DA2 since most characters seem stuck with a very sort of blocky jaw/chin. Morrigan's hair style isn't in the CC either, and that yellow you see there is as close as you can get. And the lip size slider won't let you get Morrigan's lips where the lower one is more pronounced since it increases the size of both, with the upper one getting all trout like if you go all the way. Then again, you couldn't make Morrigan's face in the DAO CC without the toolset, so there you go.

But as you can see, Human Noble doing the DR with Morrigan is considered the Default world state if DA2. Oh, and as an example of what the import screen looks like here is one of mine:
Posted Image

Problem is, I killed Loghain  and saved Connor in that playthrough- had Alistair marry Anora too, but I wonder if it doesn't really recognize that. Oh, the bugs, they have begun! At least it seems to have recognized the Warden going through the Eluvian with Morrigan.

I don't think so- you go around more general gaming forums and other places on the internet on DA2 and people quite frequently ask either if Morrigan will be in DA2 or what the deal with the OGB is. Considering how crappy the ending to DA2 is supposed to be, if BioWare doesn't come back to Morrigan in the next game, then I'd think they're ditching her. But not quite yet...

Oh god... is Cammen STILL getting grief over his average looks from the "standards-too-high" crowd? lol but seriously. The poor guy's just an average, average-looking guy trying to make it in the world of Thedas. Give him a break for christsake. I'm a fan of him mostly to spite all the haters.

After posting my last post, I've since seen the Leliana screenshot. She doesn't look too bad, to be honest I never noticed her nose or other major details besides the eyes and mouth, tbh. At least, unlike Zevran, she looks like herself. This gives me a bit of faith that they won't horribly screw up Morrigan beyond recognition.

I'll respect other's opinions about the chantry here, but suffice to say, I think its kinda wrong to pigeonhole everyone involved in the chantry into an "evil" category if its only a few who are evil and corrupt. Afterall the chantry does lots of charity work that benefits the people. I'm just hoping that there is a choice somewhere to remove the corruption and restore the chantry to its righteous ways. I'd like to have at least one playthrough where I could support the good of the chantry, though I don't know if its going to be possible. I just seriously hope it isn't a cheesy "organized religion rebellion" story just for the sake of appeasing the DA2 fanboys/girls who hate the chantry unreasonably with a passion.

revan11exile- oh god! lol that video was hilarious! Thanks for linking it on here. Morrigan and a Warden dancing all hip-hop style... lol never thought I'd see the day.

Lord_Anthonior- glad to hear your father is doing fine. Best wishes for a continued full recovery.

and on a happier Morrigan note, here's a couple of things on DeviantArt recently:

and the second is a theoretical "how did she get her current look" funny comic (since her look has been brought up)-

The detailed one is what I'd consider my canon Cousland save. Alistair hardened  and married Anora. KILLED Loghain and had my Warden kill the AD, do the DR, go through the Eluvian and so on.

Yeah, its impossible for Loghain to kill the AD if you do the DR. I mean, nevermind that he was a headless corpse at that point in my game, but the Warden always kills the AD if you do the DR.

Oh, and its so good to see that Connor is STILL bugged. Wasn't that like one of the very first story related bugs found?

Brock, did you get the ability to discover this from the old model that the Demo was based off of?

While my cynical self doubts it, BioWare does claim that alot of the problems found in the demo were on the older model so they wont be as exaggerated or even there in the release version. Do you think that maybe the import bugs were already fixed?

Yeah, thats from the modded version of the demo with the CC activated.

So hopefully that is all fixed in the final version. Hopefully.

Cause lord knows that starting out DA2 with a nice bug certainly would not be an omen of nice things to come.

Bah, and another little thing I noticed in the demo's CC: with the portrait you can't give your PC any facial expression!
