For those who dont have the time to play a game of Origins:
http://social.biowar...21474/1#6423488

Here is a save maker.
I am going to play with it more later.

Speaking of importation, anyone noticing anything major about Awakening carrying over? I'm a little nervous that I'm missing out on tons of little bits since I didn't have time to get Awakening done on the mage. I did like how since my mage was an Amell, they brought it up that the Hero of Ferelden and Hawke are cousins.

I just don't want some stinking Orleasean getting cred for my Warden!

My import seems to be working ok thus far.

As far as Awakening goes, *highlight for minor spoilers* the only reference thus far early in my game was when a mercenary gives Hawke a quest to kill some of the noble conspirators from Amaranthine and she mentions how the Warden commander is such a badass having killed the Archdemon and the Mother *end minor spoilers*

Yeah,
I'm eating crow on that 'don't worry, they'll have amazing companions
in DA2' comment so far. Everyones just kind of...there...but could
totally be interchangable right now. Although the brother isn't as bad
as I thought via the demo at all.

A major flaw has been found in the PC voice though...

Whats the news?
Whats the news?

Whats the news?

Auuugh, it's the new 'Another wave!'

Oh god, the wave combat in general is dreadful, even more so by the gimped camera. I just feel rather disconnected from Hawke- you jump forward in time and run into some lady who apparently Hawke is friends with? I'm like, "ummm who the hell are you?"

Make sure it's the Witch Hunt 1.1 version; It's usually one of the Auto-Saves titles 'The Nest' IIRC.

Mine went through without a hitch.

Do you have it on the 360 because what is so strange i already updated it a week ago on my 360 but all i have is the auto-save and the regular save but it says nothing about morrigan and the warden going into the mirror

I can only speak for the PC version, but make sure you have the auto save from the updated version of WH. It should show up in the plot summary that your Warden went through the Eluvian if you've got the right save.

When you load the auto-save, you are picking the one Witch Hunt creates after you step into the portal, yes? When you click on the left-most button to tell you the breakdown of the save, the last entry should be 'Warden went through the Eluvian with Morrigan'. If not, it's either not the right save, or something in the import is broken.

The import for DA2 actually saves your Wardens appearance into the game files, so I'm not sure that would save me any worry unless it lets you create his or her appearance as well. Just my luck I'd use it, Morrigan would step out of the Eluvian followed by...a patchy, bugged out human sized model.

I'd kick the computer.

So what's our timer for before we can start discussing spoiler-type events from DA2? And, on a related matter, has anybody visited the Dalish camp yet?

Yeah, you can- I just got sucked into doing boat loads of mindless fetch quests in Kirkwall. But I'm at Sundermount now and its far cooler than Kirkwall. Its quite atmospheric, especially with DX11- its such a shame that so much of the game takes place in Kirkwall, as the outdoor areas aren't too bad.

Haven't imported yet but has anyone experienced any issues or inconsistencies with their import files?

As far as Morrigan vs Flemeth, I wonder what their motivations are. Makes me wonder how much both have seen and experienced. For all we know they can be working toward the same goal but through different means of achieving it and we have decide which approach sucks less

Oh yeah, the poor man's Imoen Release Fund, yah? For the most awesomest of awesomest of Heroes (with a capital 'H'), my Hawke sure seems to be everyones b***h.

I can't get over the elves. At first I made Na'VI jokes, but that's not even it I think. They look like you crossed rabbits with the elves in Origins, and the 'elvhan' or whatever it was, is what you got. Seriously, next time you go to the Dalish, check them out - especially the males with the huge foreheads - it's Rabbit-Men.

Yeah, the elves are ridiculous. They remind me of Donkey Pinnochio or something. I mean, seriously, its dreadful. Its like a strong breeze could knock them over. They're goat people with the ugly nose bridge thing and their clownish ears. And they're so skinny and frail looking that they're heads are grossly disproportionate.

And I really don't care for their sudden Irish/Welsh accents. I can't stand Merrill- and I rarely dislike NPCs in games.

And yes, I recommend you go to Sundermount with the amulet if you haven't done so yet.:wizard:

I am somewhat sad.

It seems the more I read and hear about DA2 the more I come to the realization that:
Bioware did not make DA2 for people who enjoyed Origins.

Plus the Leliana news I just got made me firmly want to strangle someone.

Oh, I've already done the Sundermount part, wasn't impressed with it at all. The bit at the altar is somewhat cool, but it is suffering from LOST-itis in that you can only string me along for so long before I don't CARE what the damn explanation is. Luckily, plenty of game to go so answers may be forthcoming, but right now I feel like Jowan in the Mage Origin - "Ambiguous rubbish, it could mean anything. I can do it too: 'The sun grows dark, but lo! Here comes the dawn!'"

I do however love the new Dalish voices. It's an Irish brogue, with an almost southern islander cadence to it. It's something the V.O's have to be on the top of their games though, because if you don't do it right you end up like the village guard who sounds more rastafarian than 'Dalish'. I just wish they didn't look like rabbit-people, you can tell they designed the NPC LI's as more human than their countrymen (probably to increase the chance of connection with players) and it shows horribly when surrounded by the 'stock' elves.

I like Merrill, but have hardly used her so what get's you about her? Right now I'm running with Ebon Hawke the Mage, Varic (who will probably get demoted for Isabela, I have too much ranged right now), Fenris (who is about to get subbed as well, I can't stand the brood brood brood, but his personal talent tree is so cool), and Justianders.

Giggles, I don't know quite yet. Right now to me it feels so close to getting it right, but just missing the mark. The start of the game could have worked so well if they would have just pushed the beginning a few days before, but it just feels like jumping into the Cousland Origin 2/3 of the way done. You get into the city and it becomes an extreme version of Step-And-Fetch-It that comes off as a shallow version of Baldur's Gate and the epic adventures you had trying to get the money to free Imoen. It's a decent to good game so far, but I just don't care about anyone or anything.  I'm mainly playing right now hoping 'the good part' is right around the corner.

yeah, DA3 better focus on Morrigan/Warden/OGB/Flemeth and all that dammit- with some genuine ANSWERS. And after seeing Alistair in DA2, I am VERY happy Morrigan is not present. Thats all I'll say for now.

Yeah, I've got Aveline, my dork 2 Hander male Hawke, Bethany and Varric. My issue with Merrill is that it seems painfully clear she is Tali the Elf. Maybe she'll change, but the characters and companions haven't really impressed me thus far. Again though I think in large part its due to Bland Hawke VO and the Awakening/ME style dialogue system of only being able to talk with anyone at their base.

Hopefully it gets better, as the combat is getting tiresome- oh, wait its ANOTHER WAVE!:pinched:

Am I the only one in the world who likes their new look/voices? >.>. The only real problem I see with them is they're over thin-ness. They're supposed to be athelticly thin, not annorexicly thin. If they added a tad more body mass, I honestly think they would've got the Dalish/Elves in general just right. They look alien, etheral. A different race, not a human with pointy ears.

Plus the Leliana news I just got made me firmly want to strangle someone.

*Verging on DA2 spoilers, although not really spoiling anything. I wouldn't want to even remotely spoil anything for anyone though, so I'm probly being over cautios*.

Why? I thought it was rather in character for her. :/

I just finally got all of those done. Man, so many are just filler though. I wish there was something like the Chanter's Board so you had a better idea what quests were junk and what ones were worthwhile. Too many quests just trigger automatically when you pick up something and dump it off.

Oh well, off to the Deep Roads.:wizard:

Spoilers

There are references to Morrigan in Sundermount. Not so small ones. And we might have discovered how Flemeth survived the encouter with the Warden.

So, a question that isn't pertaining to DAII: would having Morrigan be interested in women as well as men be OOC? Or would it still fit her character (a female Warden never gets a chance to flirt with her, so technically it's never tested)?

Or, perhaps a better way of asking this is: does Equal Love make her act OOC?

Small observation. Kirkwall's design documents must have been amazing - I love the lore of the place, and at least the scenery also impresses. The actual meat of the city though...not as much.

Disquietingly, I get the sense this is going to be something of a running theme.

That said, at least Varric and Bethany are pretty fun, and Merrill is too when you're playing smartass Hawke (full disclosure - I am a Tali fan, but I'm not one of those Tali fans).

Yes... at least Morrigan vanishes altogether so she can't be screwed up in DAII. I have faith in DAII LIs, but not DAO ones in DAII.

But may I bring up my previous, on-topic question?

@Xilizhra,

Based on the game mechanics and conversations, which are the defining characteristics of the character, having her be bi or a lesbian would seem slightly OOC.

Then again, who knows, perhaps that was just BioWare sticking to a rigid Rule of Two . Two straight LIs, two Bi LIs. No more... no Less.
