I regret to inform you guys... that DW, your neighborhood MorriCousland fancomic has been discontinued. Or shall I say "HELL YES I'M FINALLY THROWING IT TO THE CORNER TO COLLECT DUST!"?

I will now be focusing on my career.

Plus I hate Morrigan now.

Thank you all.

Might as well I could step in and talk about all the things DW were to include in the future pages since it will gather dust from now on, no reason to remain the "silent beta" for a comic it will no longer be continued.

At least it was good to know the way how the story was going to be  the would-be chapters and cameos, it was a good run but the professional live comes to all of us and time cuts short sooner or later.

I think that instead of thinking how the "stabbing Morrigan" scene plays out, I think I'll just play it now and see for myself and stab that evil sorceress and move to fair lands with Leliana.

Throwing it in the corner is not enough. You must set fire to it in a most awesome manner.

You are right! I must delete every single page. Right now. And delete it permanently from my hard drive... all 16.8gb of it. :wizard:

Both of them suck, but Leliana sucks less.

And I stab Morrigan at least three times a day. And put some heavy metal music to go alogn with it. It's therapeutic.

So if one can stab Morrigan then it will be considerable to make her the enemy in any future game or DLC and it would be even better to fight her than to romance her again while saving Leliana from Morrigan.

.... difficult indeed......

DL'd and played last night.  A very good lead-in to ME3, although it wasn't without it's own set of questions to obsess over.  And I, like you, never thought that ME could ever eclipse the sheer might of Dragon Age...but...well...it is what it is.  I'll get to a sufficiently epic length post on my thoughts on DA2 later, but have a pile of work to cut
through first.

It was a good lead-in and left me actually looking forward to ME3 and finishing up Shepard's story (which is actually interesting). Shepard did feel a little automated throughout though, there were places where it looked like you were going to get a choice yet it didn't happen. Still, decent overall and a nice chance to see a solo Shepard operation.

Barbarossa2010 wrote...
Been pretty dead around here for about a full 24 hours. Has DA2 sucked the life (and rant) out of the Morri-Nation?

For me, yeah pretty much, after such a lacklustre showing the DA devs will have a hell of a job convincing me to buy the next game. I also share Brock's concern for any future Morrigan reappearance considering the Anders fiasco and well, DA2 in general.

Brockololly wrote...
The thing with ME2 at least is that it went the distance in making itself an action game with RPG bits tacked on. Whereas DA2 is in limbo, trying to please everyone. I still like DA and find it a more interesting world than ME, but as far as games go, yeah, I'd probably favor ME as of now. That said, I really don't care for ME as an RPG or being too invested in Shep, but at least its a fairly polished product.

I like DA:O but don't care for DA2, so the franchise's current standing with me (bearing in mind the departure of key figures from DA:O's dev team and the public-facing attitude/vision of certain members of the current team) is lower than Mass Effect's. It shouldn't have happened yet the DA team have managed it, DA2 does enough wrong to sour me towards the DA label. The one possible saving grace is that its many failings have been noted internet-wide and noted in the constructive criticism thread (I particularly liked Glorfindel's post in that thread, that hit all the key points for me). So ignoring the full VO is always>Silent crowd, there might be some hope to get the series back on track in the future, but I can't say I'm hopeful it'll happen.

As far as ME / DA goes, I'm not finding myself constantly facepalming at ME dev comments, they just seem to consistently hit the mark. And as you've commented on before, yes I was more invested in DA prior to DA2's release, the sequel however just demonstrates that BW wants to p*ss away all the stuff you're invested in (chiefly choice & consequence, traditional tactical mechanics, in-depth dicussions, etc), it doesn't exactly fill me with confidence regarding the future of this series.

The whole Origins forum has died down quite a bit. But yeah....kind of disappointed in the lack of any new Morrigan related speculation fuel in DA2.

Not to worry, I expect that this will be squandered remedied in a future DLC. And I think the RPS article from yesterday on DA2 was spot on for the most part:

And then the fudged ending forcing me to go down the same path whichever major choices I’d made, left me feeling cold. That it ends on a mother-sodding cliffhanger felt par for the course of the frenzy of middle fingers being stuck up at me, and when it didn’t bother to tell me what happened next to any of my companions, I realised I didn’t care.

This in particular resonated with me and at this point applies to the franchise in general unless some significant changes are made in the future.

Goddammit, you had me in stitches with this one Knight, good one [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/wink.png[/smilie] You did forget the caveat where we loathe her due to minor drops in approval because she doesn't agree with everything the player does though.

But we need videos of it, and lots of em - I'm just not feeling the hate.

And as a final aside, my first Shogun 2 campaign ended in defeat due to the blasted Realm Divide coalition against my glorious Oda forces, ugh. It was far more enjoyable than DA2 however.

Hair 1 is on the backside a bit more like Morrigan's knot while hairstyle 2 is a bit different on the back. But from the front it looks a bit more like hers...
I can't make things myself so I'll have to do with whatever can be downloaded. I find it very hard to find some good clothes for her since her style seems to be... Mysterious, sexy, gothic, fantasy, soft but still though. I'm sure there is something downloadable that totally fits her. I would love to go with a fantasy-ish style

Her make-up and all is something I already had. I made her in bodyshop but changed some small details in the CAS. (like eyebrows and hair)

Made her because my internet was down for a loooooooong time and I was bored. So ya gotta do something.
Also want to make the others one time. I tried to make Alistair too but he turned out to look more like a monkey than he already is. (I was a lot more satisfied with the result of Morrigan).

True enough...however, I'm a bit worried about ME3 as well, considering how ME2's plot was a bit of a mess and how its all but certain they're going to have multiplayer injected into it. But I'm mostly just looking at ME as a bit of a curious onlooker- its not the same level of investment as something like DA, as its a more passive experience with Shep. Although, ME at least puts together a polished experience and it seems to know what it wants to do.

Absolutely- the RPS article is excellent and the point about not giving a crap about the characters is a point which I hope doesn't get lost by BioWare. I won't necessarily totally blame the voiced PC, but its a pretty common complaint regarding the lack of interaction with the companions and the lack of investment. Now, that could likely be chalked up to a lot of things like the framed narrative too, but the overbearing reliance on making every conversation a scripted cutscene killed any player driven conversations, all because BioWare seemed intent on getting rid of the laundry list of questions and their hatred for "talking heads."

It really all cuts to the core of what BioWare wants DA to be- do they want it to play out distinctly different than ME beyond the setting or are they fine with having it be an action hack and slash  cinematic game- basically ME with swords? I really think the message with so many of these reviews is that people don't really want ME with swords. Cause I really don't think that if DA2 was just given an extra year of dev time it would have been perfect- its got some fundamental design problems that I doubt would disappear if just given more time.

I really, really regret not getting Shogun 2 instead of DA2. Now that my semester is getting really busy, I'll likely just wait until my semester is over before getting Shogun 2.

It was a good review.

Personally, I love DA2, but find myself agreeing with your review on most points. The only exceptions were voiced protagonist and dialogue wheel, which I feel is a matter of personal prefference and the lack of ability to initiate dialogue with your companions wherever you choose.

Otherwise you covered some very good points like: ninja waves of enemies, errand quests, recycled level design and not enough emphasis on family.

So there, even someone who loves DA2 shares your opinion.

Over here in my part of Europe, reviews of DA2 started coming in and the first one gave it 89%. The good things it listed was a more unique visual style, story, voiced protagonist, better combat and companions.
The bad was recycled areas, lack of emphasis on Hawke's family (Bethany/Carver dying in first 10 minutes of the game was particularly disappointing to the reviewer, who wondered what the point was beyond story reasons) and simplified rpg elements.

The magazine in question does not, however, specilize in reviewing PC games so I'll need to wait for my local gaming magazine to release their review. Should be interesting since they hold Bioware games in high regard..

I must have sold it on previous playthroughs because I just noticed that Morrigan references it at the end too which has never happened before... I never actually realised the ring was a physical ingame item until this playthrough :(
