Once I played the whole game without any healing spells, just a *ton* of poultices. Since Morrigan starts with a pretty good herbalism level, it can be done. That way you aren't dependent on magic for healing when the time comes to kill Flemeth.
That's precisely what I do in my games, I never ever bring Wynne with me except for ther pesonal quest and the broken circle quest (because I have to) and since I always side with the elves, I have the unlimited supply of elfroot for the poultices so I don't really need any healer for the entire game and about more than 300 health poultices with a "health>75=take lesser health potion" tactic in automatic so each character heals themselves. Also set the tactic for mana and have quite a considerable amount of lesser mana potions for Morrigan.
In exception with Leliana I always leave the "goodies-high morals preachers" at camp and Morrigan is always in the second spot next to my warden. I do the same in DA2, bringing Bethany hehe (for as much as I can including DLC's) and Merill and leave anders at the clinic, though I think a healer is an interesting option but one I never use it.

So, apparently BioWare is trying to prop up Morrigan recently- they posted a prompt for Morrigan haikus on the DA facebook page. And while I'm not exactly a poet, they're largely as bad as you'd think they'd be.
And BioWare posted a Halloween desktop Morrigan wallpaper:
I'm always a rogue in my games so no mage warden here nor going to the fade (for that I let Morrigan go during the redcliffe crisis, yes I sacrificed Isolde and I don't care for alistair's whining) so I'm no blood mage, the point is that I wouldn't find out of character if Morrigan would be a blood mage if considering the blood in her robes and in the skulls in the wallpaper. Yes, maybe some blood magic was used for the ritual or as I prefer to call it "Conception" but in general as a blood mage...I think I'd like that in her, maybe that was the great length she went through so she could activate the eluvian, I just say that because of what Merrill had to do in her case.
As for her spells, I covered all the primal spells as well as the walking bomb and death cloud also use a lot the deathhex and the paralysis spell to keep those attacking her warden paralyzed while my Warden finish them off, but basically concentrating in the cold and electric spells and the usage of the cold winterbreath staff for her (ps3 user so no mods). This wallpaper looks so awesome that I already put it in my laptop, I have always liked watching Morrigan casting spells in her hand be that electricity, cold or fire.

I never thought fire suited Morrigan. Always invested in ice and lighting for her.
Same here. Also, she starts out with a cold spell and a lightning spell.

I wonder if that poster means we get to see the DA2 Morrigan that we all
I never gave Morrigan blood magic because
^ that got the other specialization slot.

I'm worried about the Morrigan Romance import being bugged because not only was it bugged into awakening from DAO romances are (or at least partly were) bugged from Awakening into DA 2 aren't they?
They are.
Zevran romance is bugged, as far as I could see.
Alistair romance is also supposed to be bugged if you didn't marry him and became his queen (my female Cousland did so I didn't experience the said bug).
Leliana romance is also bugged but, surprisingly enough, the flag was read correctly on my last playthrough of DA2 and Leliana mentioned the romance with my Warden.
Morrigan is a tough one since there doesn't appear to be any mention of her relationship with the Warden in DA2. At least none that I'm aware of. However, considering the royal mess that Morrigan's romance flags were even back in Origins, not to mention Awakening and Witch Hunt, we should probably assumed she's bugged in DA2 as well until proven otherwise.

Agreed.
DAO just needed a big graphical improvement(especial mention to Volumetric Effects and Color palette), and the art would have been perfect.
i'm not a fan of DA2's art style in the slightest.

Yup, as I recall, the issues with Morrigan importing to DA2 were with the fact that Awakening cleared or didn't track the approval levels from Origins. I think thats what was the problem with the other romance imports into DA2.
But with Morrigan, who knows what else is bugged that we don't even know about- just look back at Witch Hunt and how we all brought up Awakening's import bugs to the devs pre-release and WH still launched buggy.
Anyway, some new Morrigan art:

Apparently I missed this in the last days. Well, this is the important part:
"The story of the first game's Warden "is over," apparently...".
This ruins the entire series. I will not accept a "The warden did [insert random (last meaningful) adventure] while Morrigan is still out ready to be tackled on by a _new_ protagonist, which - as we pointed out already - doesn't have the right to settle anything with Morrigan except for new stories.
So maybe we get some stories. Morrigan: "The Warden stopped adventuring because he deals with our child and I'm doing some wOcky things with the world to my liking. You, [insert new player name], may hereby be my assistant until you beat me in the last ultimate battle dlc for 7,99$!"
I may be a bit grumpy here, however seeing as BioWare deals with our protagonists, especially Revan or in this case, the Warden, I am not able to follow. Sure, i'll look at it and see how most of it plays out, but atm I'm more than just unsatisfied.
At least there are series who don't write their main chars off just like that. The Witcher, for example. [/grump]

Very nice pictures! Good to see that there are many Morrigan fans out there!

Funny, I replayed some parts of DAO. It has such a great mood, epic scale and character choice development (I accidently ticked off Princess Anora by having Alistair kill Loghain--I had forgotten such choices mattered in terms of who ended up ruling Ferelden). The only area where DA2 is better is the combat gameplay--very telling when playing a mage Hawke is more fun that my warrior Warden. Still, DAO was a better game and the relationship with Morrigan put it head and shoulders over any other RPG so far.

The Minstrels of Thedas project has completed its first recording, "Come and Dance with Me," a Morrigan romance song. It's available for download here. Alas, we couldn't get Claudia Black for vocals, but when you hear tklivory's voice, you may not mind so much.
Hope you like it!

Anyway, not much Morrigan news. Seems that Dragon Age comic starting in February is likely the next time we'll get anything new on that front, judging from the descriptions:
The comic series’ heroes will embark on an epic journey to uncover one of the greatest secrets in the history of Thedas while encountering a dangerous prison break and the mysterious and feared Witch of the Wilds.
And this version:
The three of them have traveled to Antiva, an exotic land of assassins, to chase a secret from Alistair's past that will draw all three of them into danger -- and also reveal a surprising truth about the nature of dragons in Thedas.
So not that its a surprise at this point, but the Witches of the Wild and likely Morrigan are tied to the dragons. Could the prison break be Morrigan related? And then we've got Gaider's book coming out at the end of December, which deals with Wynne's son and something supposedly big regarding mages.
I'm still curious about what BioWare does with DA and Morrigan going forward but without the Warden involved its more out of curiosity than any kind of emotional engagement. They really missed the train by not following through with the loose ends from Origins in either one last expack or DA2.
And I know there was talk of the similarities of Revan and the Exile's disappearance and the vanishing acts of the Warden and Hawke. Well, look at how BioWare dealt with Revan and the Exile in The Old Republic and the Revan book-
*TOR / REVAN SPOILERS*
They canonize Revan and the Exile in the book, only to kill off the Exile and stick Revan in limbo for a couple hundred years so that he can be thawed out to be used as a mid level raid boss that gets killed in The Old Republic MMO to very little consequence.
*end spoilers*
If BioWare does anything of the sort with the Warden, in terms of making them an NPC boss in some future game and giving them a voice....bleh. I already feel BioWare has lost their touch, but that kind of stuff is just maddening.
And to rant about DA2 yet again, after playing Skyrim, Skyrim is the model for a good sequel. They fixed much of what was wrong with Oblivion but they didn't just toss out everything and start from scratch. You can see how they built off of Oblivion and Morrowind and didn't make wholesale drastic changes to the formula, but rather made a ton of tweaks, which taken together make the experience feel significantly different while still comfortably familar. Its not without its shortcomings still, but Bethesda gets its audience and they get what people want/expect out of an Elder Scrolls game.
They just needed to add this Dragonborn into the game, then it would be perfect!

Brock, you rock with such a good update and analysis on Morri. A few weeks before the new Gaider book and comic won't be as bad as the entire last 15 months without Morri. I hold my breath that DA3 will be something special with something tangible to offer to the DAO hardcore base like ourselves.

Also, I fail - I didn't even know there was a Gaider book coming out. (*sigh*)
Thanks for all the updates, Brock. I went back a week or so ago and started up Terrence (my M!HN) to grab some screenshots, and ended up replaying some of my favorite conversations with Morrigan (since he's my main squeeze for Morri in my preferred Wardens).
