Honestly, I prefer Origins over Skyrim. Skyrim is an excellent game no doubt, but I find its story relatively boring and NPC character development is basically non-existent with just about every NPC repeating the same tiresome lines over and over again. What is good in Skyrim however, beautiful graphics aside, is the sheer number of unique places you can visit, each with its own unique atmosphere. It's basically an exploration game for me.
Skyrim makes me feel like an adventurer for hire. Dragon Age makes me feel like THE MOTHER****ING HERO.

I feel the same way. And it probably doesn't help that I keep making new characters in Skyrim, thus I end up playing the beginning parts over and over again. I can't seem to settle on a character!
Anyway, I made something for a Morrigan-obsessed friend who told me I look like her.

Then I made him another one.

Feels the same dude, when i first got a companion on Skyrim i was like "**** yeah, lets go rock this **** up!".
30min later i was like "go home, plz, and let me rock this **** up alone, the only thing you do is ****** me off sometimes..."
Loved the game itself, but it feels so quiet you know? Sometimes even feels like a dead world populated with talking zombies.

Yeah, Origins does a much better job with characters and I love having the party structure there. I think part of the problem with Skyrim is just the fact that its open world so that limits some things and Bethesda's writing while pretty good in Skyrim isn't as good as BioWare for characters.
But the world of Skyrim and some of the dungeons are just jaw droppingly amazing. They do an amazing job of telling little stories with hardly any dialogue which is something BioWare could use some work on.
I'd maintain that my perfect fantasy RPG would be with with a fantasy world designed by Bethesda like Skyrim, with the writing by Obsidian and BioWare. Add in the ability to have a party of 4 fully fleshed out companions like Origins, toss in some kind of semi turn based VATS type combat, with some Mount and Blade type mounted combat and it would be AWESOME.

You just got to make a bunch and play them all way differently!

PS: You know, I am crazy busy with Skyrim right now. But the lack of character development in this game... and now reading this thread, remembering why I loved the characters of DAO so much... truthfully it makes me feel like dropping Skyrim and restart a DAO game. Only the ending is always the same... and this ending is DA2 looking at me, covered in dust on the shelf, with virtually no link whatsoever to the original.Goddamn it Bioware, what have you done...

It's nice to see some folks are still debating on Morrigan and the OGB. I hope Gaider and co won't disappoint
us more than they already have with this abortion of a game that was DA2, but my faith in them is at an all-time low. Still, the writers can't be THAT blind and think that is OK to write off the character and the dark ritual and move on with new characters in every installment. They can't be that stupid. Everyone's waiting for the answer, Bioware. Give it to us, and bring back Dragon Age's most memorable character ever. Bring. Her. Back.
Thats the catch really. I have zero doubts they'll bring back Morrigan in some way, shape or form. Just look at one of Laidlaw's most recent tweets- its to somebody asking about Morrigan and him giving his standard, "We're not done with Morrigan's story" shtick. And it'll probably be sooner than later. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they find a way to put her in some DA2 DLC. And thats the problem as I see it: I don't want Morrigan to show up unless it absolutely makes sense and is necessary and they can do it justice. If we're simply going with a new PC every game, I'd rather BioWare go with all new characters too and only reference old PCs and characters in passing.
Otherwise, I can see Morrigan turning up again like Anders in DA2- under the guise of "character development," BioWare will simply have Morrigan drastically changed in some way such that her surprise appearance is not only new to the new PC, but also new to the player. And in doing stuff like that they will essentially marginalize the Warden and their relationship and importance to Morrigan and her story.
And thats saying nothing of how broken the import system is with respect to Morrigan. Ugh.

Did anyone find the scene where you epically STAB her as she goes through the portal awesome? The look of surprise and anguish on her face really makes up for her making my character go through emotional hoops for her. Also I think it's kind of beautiful in a way, the only thing I can compare it to is reading Sturm Brightblade's death.
Awesome? No, not really. I mean, it is a well done scene and even my psychopathic chaotic stupid Orlesian that stabbed her felt bad after doing it, what with the music and all. Otherwise, how that scene played out still seems pretty stupid, given how she's about to bail right when you meet her and is super cautious but by the end asks the Warden permission to leave. Meh.
Anyway, on Laidlaw's twitter, he posted this picture of one of the elevators at BioWare with Cassandra concept art on it:

Which actually looks kind of cool and more atmospheric than anything in the actual game (with normal sized swords and a scabbard, no less!). Which made me look for the artist (Ramil Sunga) who also did concept art from Origins of Morrigan, some of which I hadn't seen before- here is his site:

Only thing is how both Cassandra and his version of Morrigan give me a sort of vampire vibe, especially in that second concept art which is in the launcher for DAO, except the concept art looks like she's got blood on her mouth? Kind of like how she's got the feathers in her hair on the last one too, thats neat
Edit: Yup here is a different version of the one concept art from above, thats the more final version where they seem to have tweaked Morrigan's face:

That Cassandra painting gave me flashback to the Icewind Dale character art. Very good atmospherics.

I found the whole idea repulsive and have yet to see or play the scene. Don't understand how anyone could take pleasure in such a murder.

Yes I like that scene. The movements, facial expressions and music. It was a pretty powerful cutscene. Certainly one of my favorites in DA:O (alongside the Joining in Ostagar).

Thank you! I wanted to dress up as Morrigan for Halloween, but I couldn't put together a decent costume in time, and I have no aptitude for clothesmaking.
Also, that Cassandra elevator door is boss!

Well to be honest, no-slayers-of-morrigan kind of portrayed her as a saint, which she definitely isn't. Also at this point in the story you have realize that morrigan is raising a god baby. And considering her taste in morality, I wouldn't be too sure that the boy is going to be a benevolent god baby. Maybe an apocalypse causing god baby.
And can you be sure? Morrigan isn't exactly trustworthy. Considering her reasons for coming with you on your journey are, say, completely BS. Can you be certain that the god child will be free of the taint? Rhetorical, because you obviously can't trust her.
Also it's not murder. This is dragon age. Trust me, I've played the entirety of the game, and there is no way you can actually play the game without killing people. Lots of people. So don't get all self righteous with me, with your "I don't take pleasure in killing in video games." Pretty hypocritical.
Also, I don't like how you implied I'm a murderous psychopath. Not cool bro. I've had enough of your snide insinuations. You could have just said "Hey man, I haven't killed morrigan in the DLC because I like morrigan."
And its pretty clear by anyone you mean me. Considering in my post I say how awesome the killing her scene is.

No offense meant towards anybody. Simply don't like the idea of the scene on it's own merits, partly becuase I love Morrigan (It stands to reason most membesr of this thread share a certain affinity for Morrigan). I certainly can have a dissenting opinion. I enjoy my character slaying evil creatures such as darkspawn. In fact, I have at least one DAO achievement for the quantity of monsters slain. Hypocrite? Undeniably. Not proud of it.

Morrigan will be a pretty significant figure in DA3, or at least I hope so. She was one of the most important characters in DA:O anyway. The PC does not kill her. He/she stabs her and then she staggers through the portal to end up up who knows where. That's my theory anyway.
Although BW's track record on plot thread development is questionable, it would be interesting to see a follow-up plot branch in a future DA expansion/DLC/Sequel with a Morrigan furious for the stabbing.
