Its a nightmare how confusing it all is. Definately just gonna go with Leliana in my canon guy I dont recall it being so confusing. Now that I am in Denerim at the part where everyone hangs out inside the estate. Its like Morrigan is a friend now or something. She says what can I do for you my friend or something? Plus I have a dialogue option "how do I get on your good side". I still can kiss her, is this normal or did I just somehow manage to get set to friend?

Eh, Leliana has her share of bugs too.

Really with Morrigan so long as you keep the ring in your inventory, talk to her once during the battle of Denerim about the Ritual, then you're ok. You'll get the right epilogue slide in Origins even though it'll be the wrong epilogue slide in Awakening. But that doesn't matter since you've got Witch Hunt to finish off everything.

As far as Morrigan acting friendly in the estate in Denerim, thats a known bug but it won't affect the romance, so you're fine.

having to settle with Asunder and the lack of any Morrigan material. I take comfort in the brewing civil war between mages and the Templars, whatever on Thedas is happening with Orlesian chaos and hoping Morrigan will have something to be involved in as the saga of Dragon Age continues...

*sigh*

Yeah, I miss DAO as well. Its sad to think BioWare will likely never go back to that style of storytelling and game anytime soon. Such a shame. Anyway, I'm enjoying the New Vegas DLC , Skyrim and finally getting around to Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, so that'll do for my RPG fix.

I just really wish BioWare would treat Dragon Age how 2K seems to be treating X-COM- they're doing the mainstream friendly first person shooter version but then they're also having Firaxis work on a more faithful turn based sequel. Why can't BioWare just have one DA game be the more Mass Effect style hack-n-slash while they can make a proper sequel to Origins, hell, maybe even have it go way back and like Baldur's Gate with the top down view?

Ahh good times that clip does bring back! Well played Ximena, now I really can't focus on my programming exercises due to a want to play origins, curse ya

@Brock I have had the same thoughts recently concerning the appearant lack of imagination the bigwigs of the gaming industry seem to have been having concerning this issue. 2K definetely sees the possebilities in a smart way: Introduce X-COM to the shooter audiences with your run of the mill shooter and pander to the original fans by bringing back the original turn based gameplay in a seperate game.

What bioware seems to be forgettign about the success of origins is that it was the only isometric squad based RPG of the last couple of years... literally the only one up untill the latest dungeon siege I suppose. This is a niche that clearly has customers willing to put down cash and yet NOBODY seems to be willing to go for it... remarkably retarded imo.

There is an opportunity to capitalize on this in a way that could make us who want more reactivity and less cinematic streamlining throw our money at their feet... but sadly they don't seem to want to take it :D

Ahh well, thanks Xim for reminding us of the good old times, now I'm backing off to ADO.NET and other things that make me think about something else than DA <_<

And I uploaded another video! Watch here.

This line:

Yes. No. I do, yet… I cannot.’Tis all so unexpected. I have no experience with any of it. And yet I find myself wanting it. Hungering for it. For you.

Gets me every. single. time.

Ximena,

Thanks for those clips.

It's been too long since I've done an Origins playthrough. Since DA2 pretty much dashed any real hope that this series was as special as Origins alluded to, I've preferred to merely move on to other gaming experiences and look back on Origins as a unique, one of a kind experience, never to be repeated, and just remember it fondly.

Not to be maudlin by any means, but playing it again would just leave me hanging, waiting for that high quality, immersive sequel that will never come. Those scenes with Morrigan really bring back to me how special the Origins experience was, yet highlight at the same time how godawful, and unworthy as a Dragon Age "sequel," DA2 was for me.

Thanks for those anyway. Good times.

I am going to replay Origins sometime and when I do, I am going to pretend it's an isolated game with no sequel. I will have no expectation and just learn to enjoy it for what it is.

Good to see you back Barbarossa! Have you tried playing The Witcher 2 perchance?

Hey Knight. Good to see you as well. I've actually purchased it with full intention of playing soon. Right now, I'm having a helluva time getting that Skyrim chip off my shoulder. 315 hours and counting...and three different builds. It was the the exact remedy I needed after DA2. I understand TW2 will offer me the story elements I'm looking for?

And I agree, approach Origins as a stand alone experience, with no expectations beyond what it and the DLCs provide, and we'll be good. Great advice.

EDIT: atrocious spelling.

@Ximena thx for another great clip, that scene was actually what made me want to try a romance for the first time in a game where the choice existed, and thank ****ing god for that ;)

@barbarossa the witcher 2 is a great game but don't expect origins level fidelity when it comes to the choices. There are some pretty major ones but I felt like I was on a rail through the game for the most part. Not a bad game at all, and most definetely one of the best rpg's I've ever played but the romance is not a choice for instance so you are kinda stuck with the one you get. Not a bad one, but it aint morri :P

I also started a new DAO run but got to the end of ostagar and kinda went ugh not again. After a boatload of playthroughs and according to steam over 430 hours since I bought the game in January of 2010 + the 4 playthroughs I did on my roomate's copy between november 2009 and then...I've completely exhausted the replayability factor it seems xD

I just recently read Asunder and it was actually pretty decent, the story had more of an origins vibe and actually sets up a Thedas that I would love to explore as the warden...which won't bloody happen...RAAGGGEEEEEEE xD

For me, TW2's story is unrivalled and there is not a single bioware game I played that even comes close to it (Origins included). The way it handles political issues is excellent, its cast of characters is great and memorable and the choices and consequences are done well. This is the only game that I know of that *needs* to be played twice for you to fully grasp the story.

So if you are looking for an intelligently written, mature story with believable, reasonable and competent characters, with no "big bad evil" and simplistic bipolarity, then TW2 delivers.

But a lot of your enjoyement will depend on how much you like Geralt. Some people really like him, others hate him.

Chipping away at TW2 myself. Second favorite universe after Dragon Age. I did replay my DAO DR and some of the battle of Ft Drakkon with my new gaming desktop. What a great game DAO was and what a kick in the gut when Morrigan insists that the one can never chase after her.

TW2 has one of the most reactive narratives in any game ever. If you want actual, meaningful consequences to your choices, TW2 is the game for you. When the entire second act of the game takes place with entirely different characters in an entirely different location based on a choice you make, thats just far more dealing with consequences than anything BioWare has ever done.

I know that feeling! Heh, I've tried to make a new Warden 2-3 times but everytime I start to load the disks I stop and can mentally go through the game step by step and kind of back off.

And I'm still waiting on my picture a year later, Ximena! :D

And the times I do replay it, I often find myself just doing the exact same things I did in previous playthroughs.

Indeed a severely annoying factor for me as well. I intend to finally do a run with a new char to get the last romance achievement with Zev - always winds up a morri romancer xD

Tell myself to burn down redcliffe - can't do it

Borderline threaten self induced waterboarding to defile the ashes - never do it

Side with the templars? Never happens

Wipe out the werewolfs or dalish - persuade ftw everytime.....

.....GAH!!!!! 86 achievements down and 20 to go, half of which are just a case of loading up awakening and using respec abuse but still damn...I can't do it xD

I wonder what happens to this thread once company awesome releases Dragon Awesome 3 and some "sort of conclusion" to our black haired. Will it rest in peace or grieve over what it once stood for?

This and many other questions will be revealed as soon as some awesome origin-based products tell you the story of protagonist Captain Pushabutton dealing with your more accessible interaction with the story, resulting in the great feature to push the "Like it" button ingame to show the world how you think of it!

Speaking for myself, I'll have a moment of silence, perhaps shed a single tear, and move on only thinking about Morrigan as my favorite RPG romance as of yet and not concerning myself with whatever may ruin her later.
