Spoilers from the Silent Grove #3
Another witch comes into the picture.
Hmmm. Morri's sister?
Does she have yellow eyes too it looks like? Looking at the preview on Dark Horse's site, is this the same witch?

Meh... I'm all for hot chicks. But did a horny 13 year old design that outfit? I mean, the thong shot? The DD boobs and corset? What is this junk? I know Morrigan's signature outfit is hardly modest either, but come on. This get up is about as stereotypical High Fantasy as you can possibly get. And I'd imagine thats what Morrigan will look like should she get Hot Rod Samurai'd for DA3- massive boob implants, even less clothing, inexplicable spikes/horns, nonsensical armor (boy, that those shoulder pauldrons will really help protect when you've got a flap of fabric below the waist) and more horns/skulls. This design looks like something ripped off of some bad heavy metal album.
Unless thats Flemeth in disguise, I'll be disappointed since thats such a visual ripoff of DA2 Flemeth combined with the body of Isabela and her corset and thigh highs. Meh.

Yevana: Why do you look at me as if I am covered in eels?
Sten: Eels would be something.

I could have gone for it a little more if the cape (as depicted in the facing shot - it seems to be gone in the rear shot) was utilized a bit more. Depicted as-is, I have a hard time taking it seriously. Morrigan and Isabella's outfits could at least be taken seriously, and it fit their characters. That's just gratutitous just to be so.

Granted, I haven't read the thing so I'm probably missing info. But we know that Maric made some deal with Flemeth in The Stolen Throne. Maric gets locked up in prison and this Witch of the Wilds, "Yavana" breaks him out so he can pay his debt. As I read it, Alistair and company come across a High Dragon and then find this Yavana witch who seems to have control over the dragon.
Now maybe the twist will be that the High Dragon is Flemeth in disguise or that Yavana is actually Flemeth. But they seem to have it structured such that the last time we saw Maric was with Yavana, leaving the Crows prison. So maybe part of the deal he made with Flemeth was that he'd become King for a time but when his time came he'd need to become some thrall of the Witches of the Wild or Flemeth... Somehow he's linked to the Witches of the Wild.
And if thats the case with Maric, then that kind of goofy revelation would be an easy way to write off the Warden or Hawke too while still possibly having them in future games- just turn them into dragons.

Bah, just bring Morrigan back, ruin her completely so I can write off Bioware utterly and stop caring.

Yeah, it's time to find a new franchise to invest myself in.
Thing is, I'm having a hard time finding one at the moment...

Witcher.
I've heard about that series once or twice. How much catching up do I have to do if I do decide to get into that?

You could jump straight to TW2, its plot and story is fairly independent of what happens in TW1.
But TW1 does offer a good introduction to the universe, its issues and to Geralt as a character. And it's a great game in its own right.
So I recommend you play the first before the 2nd (and wait till April 17th, as TW2 will get the enhanced edition, which is a free update to those who already own the PC version).
If you can't / don't want to, then I recommend at least reading a synopsis of the story and some vids.

BTW the dragon also looks smaller than a high dragon- I think it's just a wyvern and a natural pet that gives this installation an action sequence.

Edit: Although I still want to know what the hell was going on with that army of Morrigan's in the trailer for DA:2. Assuming the character was just used as a placeholder model, there still was never a battle between mages and templars in the deep roads that I recall.

I'll echo what KoP said- The Witcher is solid, so long as you're ok with a fixed protagonist. I prefer more options in character creation, but Geralt's dry sense of humor is rather endearing I think.

Brock: Maybe, but I don't see the point in that? They could get any old dude to become their thrall. My theory
is that Flemeth bound Maric to allow the Grey Wardens back into Ferelden so that there'd be OGB-daddies around when the Blight showed up. Yavana rescues him because it's too risky to have someone who knows the OGB secret in the hands of Crow torturers.
BTW the dragon also looks smaller than a high dragon- I think it's just a wyvern and a natural pet that gives this installation an action sequence.
Would Flemeth have necessarily told Maric of her plans for the OGB? Couldn't she just have got him to agree to letting the Wardens back without telling about why she wanted to do so?
Anyway, just a ridculous theory that might fit BioWare considering how ridiculous ME3 ended.
I'm guessing there is some sort of big twist in this left to be told. I'll just rely on you all to let me know if its anything worth bothering with.

As I recall there was other stuff in that trailer that wasn't in the game either.
In any event, I'm guessing that they were going to have Morrigan show up in their Exalted March expansion pack for DA2. You had her ugly DA2 face morph in the DA2 files and then you had the concept art from last spring by Nick Thornborrow:

I'm guessing this was going to be used in the expansion pack which got canned.

OK, so I finally read Silent Grove #3 and saw the famous Yevana. Interesting Witch of the Wilds. Curious to see where Gaider leads us too. I like the tone and flavor of this story. Night and Day superiority over the 1st Dragon Age comic. Also pre-ordered my blu ray DA Manga movie. So I am happier now to have some DA that feels a little more like DAO. The big news for me is the fact that there are more Witches of the Wilds. While I seem to remember this was alluded to in the plethora DAO lore, I am enjoying this story better than previous DA stories since WH. My interest is at its highest for DA since WH. That's nice for a change. Enjoyable hypothesizing on Yevana and how things will pan out in relation to Flemeth and our favorite: Morrigan.

I recommend TW1 first. I hated the combat mechanics at first but eventually ended up getting and adquired taste for them. Also, they become much more fun as you level up. Geralt belw me away as a character. I tend to put a premium on atmosphere, story and characterization. Geralt is in the same category as Morrigan as a strong character.

Really? It doesn't feel like DAO to me. For one thing the premise is ridiculous. I'm interested to see where he goes with it, but I see it as just a lark.Jarlof Seoul wrote...

It occurred to me how much:
DA would have been much better with a continuous main character.
How Morrigan was one of the great characters of all RPGs at all times. Drizzt caliber character.
I go back to how the writing, characters, and story are the strongest aspect of DA as an RPG franchise. However, CRPGs seem to be on the path to extinction or rather things are coming full circle. Back when I started RPGs, the Ultimas and D&D adventures where on computers like 486s where a hardcore computer gamer crowd would have to configure configsys and autoexec bat files, and make DOS do Cheetah flips. It was the age of good Dragonlance novels. Then came Windows 95 which made RPGs accessible to the masses, but now we have seen the rise of the console games, and the money is there not in PC gaming, alas. So I hope future Morrigans and good RPG will still be created for niche remnant RPG markets (us) bringing us back to a similar situation as in the 1980s. At least we have some Dragon Age Novels, comics, and an anime movie. sniff! I miss a good Dragon Age game with Morrigan in it.

No idea, I got the Morrigan slide in DAO but not in DAA due to the bug. It did not affect my WH game though. DR and Romance were recongized and I got my happy ending and closure. Hence, I'm relatively indifferent to DA3 being un-DAO-like... unless they bring back and screw up Morri by having here ignore my Warden's history or worst...be a romanceable character with a different protagonist.
