But it isn't really accurate to say the Warden love interest's "existence" was handwaved away in DA2. He was referenced in passing, with the details of where he was and what he was currently doing being left up to our imagination.
The equivalent I suppose would be the DA3 Morrigan having a few lines about how the Warden followed her through the Eluvian, and will be waiting for her when she returns to the other side, but that "this is something I must do by myself," and so on.
Not ideal, no, but I'd be content with that. I definitely wouldn't consider it to be BS. In point of fact, it's not much different from just quitting at Witch Hunt and imagining your own details for what happened to the Warden after that. Except that it will be more satisying, for me, since I'll at least know what was going on with Morrigan (which is Bioware's job to tell me), even if my Warden's actions and motivations are still left vague (since those are my own job to figure out anyway).
Long story short, I'm pretty sure that the focus won't be Morrigan+Warden, especially since that's just once choice out of the many possibilities in the Morrigan storyline. I think that the focus will be on finally getting some answers to the big mystery what Flemeth and Morrigan have been doing. And, frankly, THAT'S what interests me most, anyhow.

Yeah, the Anders thing was pretty bad. So, that is my own one fear: that Morrigan will be drastically reimagined to fit some specific story role, and that it will be handled poorly. If that happens I will be sad indeed.

I could live with that scenario given I got my cake and ate it with Morrigan. Good points.

Meh... I'm all for hot chicks. But did a horny 13 year old design that outfit? I mean, the thong shot? The DD boobs and corset? What is this junk? I know Morrigan's signature outfit is hardly modest either, but come on. This get up is about as stereotypical High Fantasy as you can possibly get. And I'd imagine thats what Morrigan will look like should she get Hot Rod Samurai'd for DA3- massive boob implants, even less clothing, inexplicable spikes/horns, nonsensical armor (boy, that those shoulder pauldrons will really help protect when you've got a flap of fabric below the waist) and more horns/skulls. This design looks like something ripped off of some bad heavy metal album.
Unless thats Flemeth in disguise, I'll be disappointed since thats such a visual ripoff of DA2 Flemeth combined with the body of Isabela and her corset and thigh highs. Meh.
The only thing that can really be defended in terms of armor protection is the skull, seeing as how it appears to be the skull of a dragon.
Dragonbone, in other words. And we've been told in game that Dragonbone is one of the strongest materials in game. And it makes sense, considering she lives alongside dragons.
Looks similar enough.
I can understand the complaint about the protection -- or lack thereof -- that her look provides, but from a story standpoint about her look itself it's somewhat justifiable, in this comic at least.
Her personal attire is justifiable. The amount of protection it provides obviously isn't, save for her skull helmet.
Yavana ran away from her home to live in the Tellari Swamps, or so the legend about her states. She's basically a recluse I gather, considering the Silent Grove -- her home within the Swamps -- isn't known to civilization. And she also is able to command High Dragons to do her bidding. If she can tell them not to kill someone, she can also just have them kill someone else.
If she was actively doing battle with people, I could definitely echo the complaints about her armor. But she exists as more of a Silent Guardian to Dragons rather then a Mage that goes out into the world and risks fighting people.
Though I'll admit, I like her look because of how it was designed. Y'know, deliberately sexy. I'm a guy, so of course I'm going to
Yavana's look may not be battle-ready -- I agree with that -- but she's lived a life where battle wasn't something she needed to worry about. So that's pretty much why I don't mind it in the comics.
However, were she to appear as a companion in future games -- it's certainly likely -- I would at least want the option to give her some better looking armor overtop her default look using the theoretical system proposal we saw at PAX.
And even were that not to happen, Rock Armor would be enough for me to grudgingly accept her look. She'd be wearing a Golem for protection, more or less.

This comic has only 6 chapters right? I hope the next, and last one, has some good 15 pages...

Yep. Just read my copy and the plot paused in terms of the Morrigan and the Dragons.
I just hope we get a few explanations or a decent setup in issue #6...

I don't want her to be tied down to the Warden story wise, but I also don't want her romantic partner just being omitted without any logical clarification of why they aren't fighting together.
Also someone mentioned a few pages back they hope Yennefer is voiced by Claudia Black, it would be a dream come true. I just finished the EE I can't wait to meet Yennefer.

Well, yes but what about Triss, a sorceress like our dear Morrigan?

Ha maybe the next Hero we play with can romance Morrigans sister Yavana lol
I'd rather have that than BW ruin or water down the character of Morrigan. If we could romance Yavan I hope they would use the "Party Camp" leitmotif from DAO. You reading this Inon Zur?

After so many miles, so many betrayals and deaths, King Alistair’s quest to find his lost father, King Maric, has brought him here, to a showdown with a witch and the dragons she consorts with, a battle that will reveal the shared past of Maric and the witch—and set the course of Alistair’s future!
* The shocking conclusion!
How much do you want to bet nothing is resolved at all and it ends on a cliffhanger?
Edit: My psychic powers know no bounds.

Doesn't hurt that she's also one of the more intriguing characters they've written, either.

I see the decisions in my playthrough were kinda the best ones hehe, it's difficult to kill Morrigan's sister when the bastrd is now in ashes from the pyre after my landsmeet, Isabela is sailing away with Hawke, Anora ruling alone, Loghain is in Orlais, Varric drinks into a stupor or makes up more stories while Morrigan and my Warden are nowhere to be found training the OGB.
I haven't read the comic because I can't find it here in my country but at the moment I'm all the more pleased with the call I made in my game.
I know, I wish I could see Morrigan wearing her hood on my ps3 game.

I'm currently playing through Origins again after my bout with the entirety of the Mass Effect series, and I'm left in blissful awe -- even upon a third play-through -- at the conversation style with Morrigan. I haven't felt that sense of reservation, trepidation, careful thought and "onion-peeling" about what to say towards any of BioWare's other characters, and the fact that she's so easily rubbed the wrong way with how you say things makes conversing with her feel, easily, like the most authentic conversation I've had in a game environment. When I look at the rigidity of the two recent Mass Effect games, even in some comparison to the first one, it's very liberating.
Doesn't hurt that she's also one of the more intriguing characters they've written, either.
Couldn't have said it better!

Indeed, it was like the WH option of stabbing Morrigan, except from a p**sed-off Alistair. I guess, while underwhelming, it shows that Alistair is nor "hardened," reading to be king 100% and, for DR/Morri romancers, shows that his experience with Morrigan and Flemeth left some severe undercurrents. Now, I wonder if in a future installment of DA wether we will see more of her in the Fade or how it would tie into the rest of the series. Still the usual seeming case of more questions that answers but certainly more forceful resolution in terms of Yavana. I was expecting Alistair to agree to a ritual and then it would have begged resolution of this dragon subplot, guaranteeing more revenue for BW.
