Maybe the cure could be found from where it all started, or rather, where we THINK it started...the golden city?

Other possible source for the cure could be avernus, the architect or someone else, who has studied the taint and knows, how it works.

Hi Morrigan fans.

Does anybody know where I can find high quality pics of Morrigan in her default appearance? A lot of the ones I've found are not really HQ enough for me or they're fan art/modded appearances. Ideally I want something like this:

http://www.dragonage...-1264049626.jpg

But without... everything on her face, lol.

Not sure if you guys caught this yet, but David Gaider (Morrigan's writer) has a blog where he talks about Bioware related and video game related stuff. Here are a few interesting bits concerning our favorite witch:

David Gaider wrote...
Occasionally I do get to work with bona fide celebrities, though. I think one of my favorites has to be Claudia Black, in part because I’ve worked with her a number of times (and even got to spend time with her at last year’s SDCC, which was a delight) and also because her voice has such rich layers I can’t imagine Morrigan having become Morrigan without her. When we started recording for DAO, they flew me down to LA to meet with the principles and talk them through their characters (as well as sit in on their first few sessions) and Claudia was my first… the first actor I ever got to meet with face-to-face, in fact.

I was so nervous and stumbly. Jesus, who wouldn’t be in that situation? I was going to meet Aeryn Sun in person! When I described the voice we’d envisioned for Morrigan, I made a total gaffe and mentioned the original actress we’d had in mind for the role (despite Caroline having warned me this was a no-no). As soon as I realized I’d done it, I was aghast. Utterly horrified at myself. And Claudia laughed and laughed and laughed with amusement at me. During the session, whenever I leaned over to the director and gave a note (which Claudia could not hear, of course), she would immediately tease me by saying “Oh, does he want me to do it more like (the actress)?” My mortification renewed, my head hit the desk and Claudia would roar with laughter again.

I didn’t mind, nor will I ever. Claudia is awesome, and honestly just gets better and better every time we have her in the booth. I’m pleased as hell to see her in other games… though I have to admit having both Morrigan and Alistair as my companions in Uncharted 2 was a bit surreal.

Morrigan

She’s the character that is at once the most like me and the least like me. I’m not one to run around in forests with a string bikini to cover my nipples and little else… and, if I did, I imagine some hunter would shoot me out of the assumption I was some wild animal. In fact, I support that notion should it ever happen.

I am, however, kind of a ****. This is, of course, where the people who know me better give a little snort and mutter, “kind of?” Yes, okay, I didn’t have to dig very far to get to Morrigan’s snark. I can probably write ****-With-A-Heart-Of-Gold in my sleep. Though I remember I really had to struggle early on not to have Morrigan sound like Bastila. They occupied a bit of the same Ice Queen space, and it took time for their differences to really develop in my head. But they did. Bastila was, to me, always a character doomed to fall… at her heart, she was weak. Morrigan is the opposite. She’s both stronger and nobler than she thinks she is, and struggles against those impulses because she’s been taught it’s weak. Her mother really did a number on her.

To be honest, I’m not sure where that part of her came from. I think I initially intended for her to be downright despicable… but early on, she just wouldn’t behave like I wanted her to (true to form, I guess). And then Claudia Black came along and the character was complete.

I don’t know how anyone can stand her, though. If you say zig, she’ll say zag… even if she’s privately thinking of zigging anyway. I made it second nature for her to be secretive, so even when she’s being up front with the player they’re unlikely to believe her. One day I’ll have her do some Big Reveal, and the players will just look at her all skeptically like “uh huh, tell me another one.” And Morrigan will be all “GOD DAMMIT I’M TOTALLY SERIOUS THIS TIME. FOR REALS!” That’s what you get when you cry Mystery Wolf too often, I guess (which is like crying wolf in the regular sense, but FAR MORE MYSTERIOUS).

I've got some screenshots on my PC I dug up... most are at 1280x1024 from back when I first was playing Origins but I've got some higher res 1920x1080 ones too (just right click and view to see full sized):

Yeah I saw that not too long ago. Interesting stuff.

Kind of interesting with this bit:

Morrigan is the opposite. She’s both stronger and nobler than she thinks she is, and struggles against those impulses because she’s been taught  it’s weak. Her mother really did a number on her.

Thats sort of interesting, what with the whole bits about Morrigan actually loving the Warden or not. This seems to hint that Flemeth just really screwed her up and things like love aren't necessarily things she'll see as "weak" but just things she has no personal experience with and needs to learn firsthand about.

I don’t know how anyone can stand her, though. If you say zig, she’ll  say zag… even if she’s privately thinking of zigging anyway. I made it  second nature for her to be secretive, so even when she’s being up front
with the player they’re unlikely to believe her.

And thats my biggest annoyance with how Gaider had written Morrigan. Its just sort of sapped the majority of the interest I've had in her, since he's totally overplayed the mystery card to the point where I personally have stopped caring mostly. So when she does maybe get to some Big Reveal, I just won't really care I think. Doubly so since it would be most likely minus the Warden PC and just with some random new hero of Thedas, sucking out most of the emotional engagement from that possible reveal. I just hope there is a reason for her being so secretive otherwise its just annoying and a character trait thats been played out for far too long without much reason that the player can know about. Dragging that kind of mystery on for years and years in real world time with no end in sight is simply tiresome.

I'm just skeptical that Gaider and the writers even know where they're going with Morrigan, so I'm mostly thinking they're crying wolf with any possible big reveals.

BioWare has got a Dragon Age lore/art book coming out in April. Here is one version of the cover:
Posted Image

Guess this is Morrigan in the new art style they'll use going forward. Odd she's using fire and they seem to have changed her robes from purple to red, whether thats intentional or an oversight. The cape is kind of silly too and they got rid of her glove on her one hand. Not terribly impressed with the rendering of her face but whatever.

This outfit actually looks more suitable for Morrigan. It's got the same overall look and feel, only it looks warmer, easier to move around in, more comfortable, and more practical. In fact, this has probably been discussed to death, but I never understood BioWare's decision to put her in the outfit they did. Not because I'm a prude or anything, but because... I don't know, it didn't seem right for her character.

She lives alone with her mother in a cold, dark, dangerous forest. She has no time for social graces and only thinks in terms of what is practical and what isn't. Her outfit isn't practical for her personality or outdoorsy lifestyle. It doesn't keep her warm, doesn't function as armor, doesn't look easy to move in, and in fact looks like it would hinder her movement in the wilds. (Sure, she spends most of her time in animal form, but still.) The only reason I can think of it being so revealing is to be titilating to men, but she doesn't spend enough time with people (in fact, she hates it) to get any use out of it.

I know her outfit description implies she had to compile it from stealing scraps of cloth and stuff around the wilds (feathers, pretty rocks, etc.) probably implying that her mother never sewed and she had to find some semblence of clothing for herself, but you would think she would nab a whole cloak or dress and put together something that's... well... more practical. At least something that doesn't look freezing and uncomfortable.

Anyway, this is a cool mod.

I doubt this is how the game will look, but it does look darker and more "grounded", so if it looks like this, I'd be fine with that I guess.

Also, what's this book about? I haven't really been paying attention to any of them for a while.

It is basically an encyclopedia/book about the world of Thedas.

I never know how one should properly introduce oneself in these situations.

Well, I absolutely love Morrigan. She is, by far, my favorite character in all forms of Dragon Age media by many reasons, amongst them her complexity, deviousness, mistery, determination and the bittersweetness of all interactions with her. Both because of the inevitable separation but also the inescapable suspicions.
Here's to hoping her story arc will come to a satisfying conclusion and that she is not sporting horns in her hair in DAI should she appear.

Hi Guys,
The Morrigan Romance Bug between Awakening and DAO still exists?
I Gave her the mirror long time ago, so if the bug is not fixed there's still no chance (in 2013) to have the romance active even if I obtained the "ring epilogue"?
It's not that I don't have different save in order to "see" the epilogues, but due to the fact that, like many others, I would like to have all the possibly best epilogue for Morrigan, I would like to know if this problem has been fixed or not. Thanks,
Dark

Although I'm  happy  to see Morrigan on the cover of the World of Thedas, there's something in the "new" art concept that freaks me out. Her whole face expression seems kirkwall-bloodmage crazy ...

She does look like a crazy bloodmage  but i doubt she'll be doing blood magic in DAO she kept saying how stupid mages were for doing that.Morrigan knows best :P

If she was a bloodmage in DA3 i'll be so pissed.I wouldn't even bother playing the game.

The Dark Ritual already required a certain amount of Blood Magic and I remember her talking of forcing a spirit onto her service so as to increase her lifespan which would also require blood magic.
Regardless, I don't see such implications on that picture. Only that Flemeth remains her enemy despite Yavana's claim the body possession is a "gift".

Oh, I'm OK with Morrigan doing blood magic, the only problem I have with that pic is that it reminds me too much the stupid DA2 blood mages that make me face palm every single time they show up.  I can deal with crazy and wild  but have little patience for crazy and stupid. Morrigan can get a little wild,  I think, and maybe crazy,  and it's fine. I just hope she stays the cool woman she is, and the DA team don't change her into some  over the top moron who starts summoning demons every time someone sneezes ;)...

Banter with Wynne.

  • Morrigan: Have you given thought to, perhaps, prolonging your life by forcing another spirit into your service?
  • Wynne: Of course not.
  • Morrigan: I would. Of course I am still young, beautiful, and my life is my own
Hmmm, are there no Morrigan signatures?

I've always taken this banter as Morrigan trying to annoy Wynne whether it be she suspects Wynne's hiding something or because she already knows about Wynne and the spirit attached to her. Not that I don't think Morrigan capable of binding a spirit to her, err, service,, though there are  moments in game ( just 1 come to my mind at his moment) where she comments on how stupid is making deals  with demons. During the Arl of Redcliff quest when she says something liket"the boy made a deal with a demon, what a fool thing to do" ( I don't have the exact quote), and then, when you send her into the fade, she doesn't even want to listen to the desire demon proposition.

Morrigan did not mention making a deal with a demon in the banter I posted. Rather, she talked of forcing one into her service which is possible with blood magic. She probrably considers it an important distinction.
