Well with a redesigned model that I am not a fan of, coupled with everything that happened in those 2-3 years, plus even more tear in the veil demons dropping from the sky big bad evil, I can't say I am remotely interested for now.

Which makes me sad, because the only thing I was interested in in DA was Morrigan, and now even that has become pretty slim to non-existent.

God it feels amazing to hear Claudia Black's voice but I really hate what they did to Morrigan.
I'm still interested in the game and I really hope they don't screw up again.

New-Morrigan looks alright to me. More importantly, MORRIGAN IS BACK. How long I have waited for this day!

I'm really, really hoping that this veil-ripping-open thing is the payoff for the Morrigan/Flemeth plot thread that's been left dangling since DAO. David Gaider did say that there had been enough teasing and that it was time for some answers.

Granted, he said that around the time of the Silent Grove comic...

I kinda like the DAI Morrigan face- not too far from her DAO face, albeit with noticeable alterations. Even though I refuse to mod a change to her DAO face, I've always thought she looked too prim and proper as a Witch of the Wilds. That they retained the voice actress is quite something though. Sounds good...

Yeah, same here. If you had shown this trailer to me 2 years ago, I probably would have gone crazy. Like if DA2 as we know it did not ever exist and instead this DA: INquisition trailer was actually DA2? I'd probably be psyched.

Its just been too long and DA2 left too much of a bad taste in my mouth for me to really care that much about this right now. And that's not even getting to other more interesting RPGs like the various Kickstarter games like Project Eternity, Torment or Wasteland and The Witcher 3.

It might end up being a good game, but they're going to have to do more than wave a warped looking version of Morrigan in front of me to get me interested.

I personally like the new Morrigan. I always thought that the original model could use a little bit of tweaking (her eyes were always a bit too small in my opinion, inter alia). Also, I was blown away when I found out that the DA:I trailer is all in-game footage (it states as much at the beginning, and Laidlaw confirmed it).

Honestly, I'll never understand the militant hatred that people have towards DA 2. Yeah, it wasn't as good as DA:O, but I still think they did a great job given that the team had 1 year to design it (blame that on EA). The story was intriguing, the characters were interesting. The only major problem that I had with it was the recycled environments. I'm optimistic about DA:I. It will have been in development for about as long as DA:O, and I am looking forward to seeing where they take the story.

I think the Origins fans were disappointed. They wanted another Origins.

Apparently Bioware doesn't . New DAI has voiced human protagonist. I think it will look more like DA2 than Origins quite franly.

So what has Morrigan been doing since witch hunt?

It saddens me that Bioware doesn't want DAI to be more like Origins and more like DA2.
Anyways right now we have no new info on Morrigan other than she might be in Orlais but we all saw that coming :P

I found the very fact that they used Morrigan (with the original voice actress) to narrate the intro to DAI as a good sign. It promises to be a game from the game's memorable characters and lore rather than from yet another amorphous "Hawke." I'm dismayed by the over-the-top stuff though, so I hope they don't go overboard to create the world crisis, presenting something that otherwise makes no sense as to why we're able to "fix" it. DAO did a lot more with less.

A voiced protagonist doesn't have to be bad. We select a voice in DAO too, just not one we hear in dialog. I just prefer to hear the voice speak the actual lines on the screen, not use the ME (and DA2) method of pulling lines out of nowhere that I hadn't agreed to speak.

@Face of Evil

You got your link wrong- looks like you meant this portrait.

Or to spare people the huge labor of going offsite...

Posted Image

There are even more pictures at devianart off to the side of that portrait if people do use the link you provided.

And I do think that looks a lot more like Morrigan should've originally looked- definitely more witch-like. I'm also partial to this one from the original DA3 advert...

Posted Image

Just funny that their original DA3 concept also morphed into this one with a longer, thinner face and a dress rather than something practical...

Greetings from the newbie.

It's interesting: the redesign seems to have gone down like a lead balloon, but I actually really like it; it's kept all the distinctive features I liked about her, like her eyes, lip shape and the general face shape from Origins - I've always been a fan of her pointy chin - while making her proportions more realistic. They've softened her features a bit, but it seems like a very faithful rendition of the character. So I... don't really see the problem?

(Speaking of which, I quite like Cassandra's design here too, but I'm really not a fan of Varric's. Took me a good couple of seconds to recognise him.)

I find the voiced protag and its lack of dialogue options a bit constrictive, but I can live, and the "in-engine footage" thing is just amazing. For all that BioWare have made missteps, it seems like this game will certainly look pretty, if nothing else, and I'm a fan of the DA franchise, so I'm looking forward to it. Though by now the "Thedas is in crisis... again" plot is getting a little old.

ya, more importantly DA:O and Morrigan:wub: Got me back in to RPG not just games
and i like the way she looks now , a bit older yes but it would have been weird if she still looked like
Morrigan from Origins, Given that at least 10 years have passed since the events of Origins

hell i'm happy they did not make her  a Butt Ugly wrinkled old woman but then who knows what will happen in the coming  1.5 years before release
hell i'm pretty sure she won't get any younger i'm sure as hell i wont:sick:
and like someone said Morrigan is BACK!!!! and it's about time, just make her a permanent party member and i will buy the collecttors edition 3 times lol

And there's Mister Varric "Chest hair" Tethras:wizard:  returns it can't get much better than this :P

ps: Please BW do not mess up this game

I hope they go all out with the collector's edition. It would be great if they included a Morrigan statue like the one below:

I also miss the old days of the cloth map. Might and Magic VI, I'm thinking of you.

I'm not too concerned with Morrigan's appearance right now. For all I care they could have made her look like an old leper, and it wouldn't have bothered me all that much. Despite the underwhelming amount of good mods available for DA:2, i'm sure there will be many mods to change her appearance once the game is released.
(**Spoilers**)
What concerns me is the fact they're using her at all in the trailers. Wasn't it an option to kill her at the end of Witch Hunt? Unless they pull a fast one and say, "well technically all you did was poke her in the belly, and you don't actually see her die, so doom on you." Dunno...I love Morrigan don't get me wrong, she was always my default love interest, but something like this makes me wonder if they're going to do what they did in Mass Effect 3 and have the game play out their way, regardless of your actions in the previous two installments. Dunno...just being paranoid I guess...ME3 and DA:2 left really bad tastes in my mouth.

So, who's read David Gaider's twitter on how he is writing Morrigan?

What did he say ?
The common presumption is that Morrigan will be an npc that dispenses advice to the player's inquisitor.

Nothing much, really. Just posted a screen of Morrigan from the trailer and said that writing old characters is like coming home from vacation or something similar.
