I didn't ask about the obvious benefits of ending the Calling.

It has more to do with how to get there.

I kind of headcanon (for now) that Morrigan's book and saving the Architect would play into it. Maybe even Avernus. I wonder if they ever go into detail.

It'd be funny if the "ethical" Avernus option is gimped and just gives you an extra 2 years or something.

Ohh yes, the Architect. The other step in breaking the cycle.

It's very tempting to let him live, but unlike Avernus he makes no promise of changing his methods.

That was pretty much only choice, where I can't decide, what is better option in my view of things...  no matter if I choose to kill him or to let him go, I always have the feeling I should choose otherwise.  :D

I had my Warden do the Dark Ritual recently, and I must say I'm not a big fan of the animation.

The scared look in his face and the way he kinda retreats in bed as Morrigan approaches makes it look like the guy is about to get raped.

I can understand Loghain or Alistair feeling uncomfortable, but not the Warden in a romance. That ruined the moment for me a little.

Perhaps Morrigan blacked her eyes like an asari in order to make the ritual work or something.

Are there some details of what is this ritual actually composed of? Does Morrigan need to cast some magic during... the act? Or doing something before that? Is it something... painful for her or Warden?   I shouldn't probably think too hard about these things, it's just a game.  :D

I think romanced Warden should get at least a bit different scene, he should be generally... more comfortable with Morrigan in bed.

We can only guess, but I believe everything was prepared before Morrigan had the conversation with the Warden.

The magic probably is cast on herself, as it will affect her newborn.

Hmm wouldn't it be counterproductive to prepare everything before talking to the Warden in the case, he would refuse? In the scene that is part of the Restoration Patch by Terra, she leaves for a moment after the kiss... so if you get that scene into account, it could be the moment, when she went to prepare whatever she needed.

Nah.

Considering that she absolutely has to do it in the eve of battle, the magic most likely wears off after a 24h period.

Gaider stated years back that it was supposed to involve candles, runes and such and the topic has been brought up fairly recently a few pages back so there might be some more info there. I always imagined it'd require them both to do... something in order to have the soul redirected to Morrigan.  Considering it's blood magic, mutual spilling of blood and miscellaneous spells/chants/rites fits the bill, I would expect the warden would have to be a participant in the prep work, ie: if the warden assents to her plan, she gets whatever she needs, comes back and does the ritual. Since it's not shown, I just headcanon something more interesting than what's there.

That or Alistair was doing the chanting outside the door.

Gaider's posts on the issue for those interested:

The ritual involved more than just sex. It would have been nice to see that in the cutscene, but the idea is that sex is the culmination of the ritual and not the entire thing. I'm pretty sure a savvy PC would have figured out that something was up.

Well, originally there was supposed to be runes and candles marked around the place where the "act" took place, as well as some ritualized casting -- but that made the scene a mite too long. I guess it's sort of like Schrodinger's Ritual now... if you didn't see it, did it really happen? wink.png

I'm just saying that was the intent, is all. The fact that there's magic happening as well is currently left to the imagination.

Not that any of it really matters though outside of headcanons and fan works. The exact specifics of how it worked would be good to know though.

Shame they didn't go on with the "intent", could've had extra stuff with Morrigan, rituals excites me  .

Like having a bunch of caped cultist surround some stone altar, where would the Warden and Morrigan copulate? And singing some weird chant in the rythm of their movement?

Great... I just conjured pretty disturbing image for myself.

Best moment in the entire franchise: Morrigan and Wynne pretending to be Chantry sisters in order to rescue the Warden.

Maybe Morrigan related, maybe not, but BioWare is having their "Dragon Age: Past, Present, Future" panel at PAX this coming Saturday at 4:30PM PST streamed here. Supposedly they're unveiling what might be the last postgame DLC for Inquisition, which you'd think if it deals with any of the Temple of Mythal/Solas/Flemeth stuff might wind up with Morrigan involved somehow.

So, there are a lot of Eluvians in this trailer.

But if Morrigan were to appear in the DLC, she would have been in it.

Boooo.

So this is where the Morrigan thread ended up after the forum shakeup. Morrigan is one of my favorite characters in RPG games.

My favorite Morrigan pairing is with rogue Cousland who did the Dark Ritual and entered the Eluvian with Morrigan. It reminds me of Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri.

MisterJB:- I think Morrigan did good on her promise and left Skyhold with Kieran to be reunited with the Hero of Ferelden.

Looking some pages back, I think I am actually in a minority as "my" pairing goes... :)

That's okay. To me, Morrigan works best with rogue male Cousland or blood mage male Amell.

I was thinking the same thing when I first saw the trailer. Ah, well... its probably for the best she isn't... there would probably be another ridiculous canon bursting plotline aka Well of Sorrows, where she makes an assclown choice solely because a shallow plot demands it with little expansion of her character.... if it's 2 years later, hopefully, Lady M has reunited with the real DA hero.
