For a moment there I that was Alistair and felt throughly confused.
That post guy sure did look like Alistair, in the back.
For a moment there I that was Alistair and felt throughly confused.
I've had characters who felt obligated to Flemeth and didn't kill her (thus lying to Morrigan) and I've had characters who killed Flemeth for reasons of their own (templar hardasses who don't like the whole apostate/abomination thing). And I've had a couple characters in a romance with her at the time who killed Flemeth because they were concerned for Morrigan.
Since seeing the scene in Inquisition I felt badly for those who did kill her since it proves to not be as dire as Morrigan once thought.
I'd also imagine that it makes the Warden look like an easily manipulated fool in Flemeth's eyes.
She says that right away, more or less.
Anyhow, judging Flemeth on her actions alone, she deserves to live on most of my characters. Things only really get muddy if you romance Morrigan.. or think she's just another Uldred/Abomination.
Speaking of romance, I need you guys to help me here.
I will be playing my canon Warden again very soon. The first time was a few months ago, just to learn about all mistakes and things I could regret later. Even so, I haven't figured out how Morrigan's romance works. They say that raising her approval too quickly is dangerous, so what's the right pace then?
Last time it went like "friendzone, friendzone, friendzone... Boom! Sudden sex scene!"
That sounds right.
The only thing I'd add is umm.. get her to teach Shapeshifter right away. At least for me, she has some weird bug that disses you if you have high approval... but is friendly about the spec on low approval.

For Morrigan, love comes after the sex.

You could pace with it the Circle quest and book.. and joke with her into sleeping with you as a "reward". Then play the romance as you want from there. Just get enough basic approval so she talks about the book as you enter the Circle.
Say... is it wrong to lie to Morrigan about sparing Flemeth?
I would say no,since Flemeth is not spared, she can't die in DAo afterall,so why bother to try to kill someone who will not die and instead will be more upset later for the attempt? Or will take her revenge?
Well given that we know Morrigan isn't some mustache twirling villain like too many people I've talked to like to paint her as, I'd say in general it's wrong. But it really depends on who you're roleplaying. If you're romancing her then it's definitely wrong for that character to lie to her. Not sure why anyone who romanced Morrigan would ever spare Flemeth though. Has anyone ever done that? And if so, why? I'm curious.
she lied to the Warden as well, so they are pretty much equal in this scenario.
With me I made the mistake of giving her the Alistair voodoo doll without giving her the corresponding negative gift. So I got like 50 approval points right after we left lothering and then next thing I knew, sex scene.

Fair point, I tend to never consider that when roleplaying the decision since my warden has no idea Morrigan hasn't been completely forthright with him.

well not to my Warden.
well not to my Warden.
She doesn't care if she loves you, she still lies to you. Much like miss Isabela does.
It's not about whether she loves my character. She didn't tell him any identifiable lies.

Like her being sent to you by Flemeth to have your soul saved by Morrigan having your demon child because of the Dark Ritual? Huh? That's a pretty big lie to be honest.
I'm not sure I understand the point you are making. She did in fact save my character's soul (or at least life) by having a demon child because of the Dark Ritual. So where is the lie?
Well... Morrigan and Flemeth do put on quite the show in front of you, featuring the angry daughter reluctantly accepting to leave with your party.
I do not think it was a show and for all i know Morrigan plotted the whole thing herself.

I have no reason to think that wasn't true. Flemeth doesn't strike me as the kind to tell Morrigan the whole plan instead of teaching her the right spell to use when the time came and counting on Morrigan to seize the opportunity of her own accord once she figured out the game.

Tch. Flemeth doesn't care. And it's knowing that Flemeth won't really die that lets me kill her in good conscience.
yeaaa I got into this heated debate about the DR on another thread where it wasn't about exchanging ideas and debate and was just dumping on Morrigan cause they had a hate on for her.
Morrigan is a great character because of her flaws. She's not little Miss Pollyanna. She's evasive, but I don't think she ever really out and out lies to the warden. From her actions/dialogue in DAI you can see she genuinely believed Flemeth would kill her and take over her body. If you talk with her in camp (especially as she grows closer to the warden, friend or lover), you see foreshadowing of the events to occur at the end of the game.
The only grief I got with her is she abandons you at the end if she doesn't get her way, regardless of your relationship. But Alistair will do the same. I've had to do a lot of thinking about why they do this, and I have to agree that both have their reasons. I may not agree, but they both have reasons for doing what they do and I'm kind of glad they can't just be persuaded to swing to the warden's agenda, like stupid doormat ai's.
I like her, she's one of my favorite Bioware characters.

A beating? Nah, Morrigan is far more subtle than that.
Flirt with another girl just once and zap! Frog time.
There are two approaches to this, I guess. You can have a character that gets along with Morrigan because they think alike or because he believes there is kindness beneath that shell.
Or both.
PS: I've been meaning to ask... what has the Enter button ever done to you? You always edit my posts.
I usually take the "believing there is kindness beneath her shell". Though to be fair I've worked it out as my character being a great deal harsher after what happened in his Origin, which interests Morrigan at first, then after a while he goes back to his more kind personality, but by that point it's too late for Morrigan, she's already in love, though she denies it.
So both. Basically.
I like the character development you get from having a Warden that has opposite viewpoints from Morrigan.
