Dragon Age: Demons Within prologue

That's some very nice work, love the art style and its nice to see *something* catering for the romancing warden. That said, I had to stop after page 3 as it was like reliving the hellish endgame once again, replete with the warden's reaction. I'll read through the rest once I rid myself of said melancholy.

Yeah Ximena's stuff with Cousland/Morrgan is top notch. Looking forward to whenever he posts the actual comic, as that was just the prologue.

18 days to E3.... and hopefully some news!

First 3 pages do seem a bit heavy, although pages 1 and 2 are my among my favorites. I just love Morrigan's expression and the Warden's reaction. You can see the poor guy desperately wants to make her stay.
Page 4 might come as a real shocker to some, but I honestly loved that last panel.
Rest of the comic lightens up the atmosphere and gives hope for what is to come.

Hmm just replayed the good old take out flemeth quest and one of her lines got some old questions going we discussed in our little morrigan group:

It's an old tale flemeth has heard before...and even told" referring to the story about how she lengthens her life.

It's the even told part that makes me wonder if flemeth really is as old as we think or if she herself took out her mother in a similar fashion...but then again she could just be attempting to confuse the warden. Also there is the story the chasind tell about flemeth hunting down her daughters of course... hmm...ahh well nvm xD

Edit: And yes the comic is brilliant, like where this is heading

Terra.... I found a BIG one.

No equal love mods... no anything.... just got that in good ol' vanilla. I guees this is good news for all of you F/F romance lovers out there... but it kinda breaks the game and the ending:D

You get that if you're playing with a femPC and have Loghain in your party. If you say that Alistair agreed then you'll get the Morrigan/Alistair(through Loghains model) convo and the game will jump into the PC/Morrigan cutscene. Hilarious.

*sigh* I'll take a look later. Was that a 100% "clean" playthrough with no mods installed at any point? Surely you shouldn't have the option to say Alistair has agreed if he was executed/sent away?

I think i remember someone (maybe it was Maria Caliban) on the forums posting about this right after Origins came out.... *sigh* 7 months later and still so many bugs. Come on now BioWare....

I just checked it in the toolset. Alistair's dialogue is flagged as Loghain() if you choose that path. And so the "Alistair has agreed" option is availabe even if he got executed or something. If you click it then (the model) Loghain will talk as if he's Alistair and the game will jump to the PC/Morrigan cutscene.

I'll go check it with a male PC now...

So it definitely is a vanilla bug. dammit! I was having such a nice time playing Red Dead Redemption, but this kind of bug is somewhat ridiculous... blademaster, can you send me that save? I think you're expecting too much there Brock :)

It's a very simple fix. Alistair's dialogue in the toolset is flagged as loghain_agreed or something.... Just replace it with the alistair agreed or whatever his flag is and it will be fixed.

Or maybe you should remove these guys completely. They're not allowed to touch Morrigan in my games

I never accept to convince Alistair/Loghain with my fem PCs. The very idea of it makes me sick to my stomach...

Haha- At least with some bugs you can get a hearty chuckle out of them. Take Red Dead Redemption- you've got the Infamous Cougar Man, or Bird People.

Ok, I'll fix it in a minute if its that simple. Tell me about these still_in_love issues you mentioned earlier... is it something that needs to be addressed?

lol, haven't had that happen to me yet. The most irritating/annoying bug I've ever had was the flying Deathclaws in Fallout 3. They'd literally fly off vertically into the sky at high speed then suddenly reappear and instantly kill you at an unspecified time. It was not fun, but it was amusing...

I don't know what to make of it. That flag is seriously ****ed up.

If it was up to me then I'll just delete the flag and just forget about it. Sigh.

Anyway, according to the toolset these are the requirments for the ring .ppt epilogue:

- still in love flag
- PC must be alive (duh)
- Morrigan gave ring to PC (duh)

The scripting comments suggest that the flag must be set in every break up conversation if her approval is 90+(love). In fact, a couple of those dialogues will give you the flag(most of them do not work). Most of you will get it after you speak to her about the DR and you'll get the ring .ppt just fine.

If you get it earlier, however.... then you will see it in your epilogue even if you refused the DR, provided you didn't die of course.

Notice that if you refuse her ritual with her approval at "love" you won't get it, but you will if you have that stupid "break up" flag.

There are so many inconsistencies with the in_love and the still_in_love flags. They make you want to tear your hair out.

EDIT: Please pretend these stupid flags do not exist and I will pretend I never found them in the toolset.

blademaster, now you understand why I hate the still_in_love flag :)

It's like I said way back when - its just a stupid flag that overcomplicates the condition checks, even the devs don't seem to know what should/should not be happening as evidenced by Awakening's import. They should have just kept with the same system as BG2 - you are either romancing a character or you are not.

What I can do however (probably) is modify the still_in_love check to account for whether the player performed the DR or not for that branch in the epilogue. That's a simpler solution than sorting out the still_in_love nonsense. I'll see if I can sort something out later today.

But the thing is: The DR is not required for the ring slide. You just need to be alive and have the ring. Oh yeah you also need that stupid flag.

Maybe it was unintentional.... or maybe it is supposed to work this way(She IS still in love after all). I don't know.

No issues with male PC's. Only if you're female and have Loghain with you.

My female mage and Morrigan are very cute together.  :D

Best bug ever!

Then, maybe there isn't really a problem... But isn't Morri supposed to "default" to the Orlesian court epilogue if you refuse the ritual. Still_in_love is overriding that, right?

Best
bug ever!

It's clearly an intentional "feature" in order
to canonise the DR for male & female wardens in DA2 :)

As I already said. The flag is supposed to be set in every break up conversation but it is missing in most cases.

If you go with what the scripting comments suggest and add those flags, then the ring will start popping up in non-DR endings. I think 1 or 2 paths in vanilla will lead you there but ir's next to impossible to get it without taking a peak in the toolset.

If you slept with her in camp(make_love flag) then she's pregnant.

"True to her word, Morrigan vanished the same night  she made her offer at castle Redcliffe Castle. Someone's of Morrigan's description was later seen traveling alone, heading through the Frostback Mountains... and she may even have been with child.
Whose child might be is unknown, but some whisper that the witch was once the lover of <FirstName/> himself. Either way, her ritual was never completed... and there was no word of her after that."

Worst ending ever.

I actually quite liked the irony of that ending, despite it not being the ideal ending for Warden & Morri.

But its still possible to get still_in_love without sleeping with her purely through approval points, which would give the ring ending precedence over the orlesian court fallback epilogue slide. I think it's probably fine as it is tbh, Morri ends up travelling towards/already in Orlais in all of her endings right? I may take a closer look at this later though....

Hopefully, BioWare knows the point behind the still in love flag. But given Awakening, I'm not sure they do. Well, lets just hope it doesn't muck up any *hopeful* reunion in DA2.....

I think it's tragedy at it's finest. Tragedy for both Morri and the Warden.

She was already pregnant and she didn't even know it. If she knew earlier then maybe it was possible to do the magic by herself so she
can attract the essence of the old god. Instead she got stuck with a non-old god baby and her love died.

Lol... And here I thought Gaider doesn't like "gotcha" moments.

This was my first game ending.   I like to think it put Morrigan on a whole different path.  One that led to her being a happy mother somewhere.

This is not great by all means, but this is what I was working on today. :) It's the DR confrontation scene with Morrigan (modded with long hair) and my city elf Abby

If you're checking those out be sure to check her other Warden + Morrigan art.

My favorites are:

Morrigan watching the Warden sleep

Camp downtime

Her nightmare

As well as "Wounds" and "No turning back" which have been already posted here. :wizard:

Wow, that is some of the most moving fanart I've seen.  Thanks for posting these links.

Edit:  The comic also brings up an idea I had the other day.  Don't know if it's been discussed here.  I usually picture Morrigan's baby as a boy for some reason, but the other day I thought it's probably going to end up being a girl.  Don't know why, but somehow that idea is sticking.  Maybe because the old gods/dragons are supposed to be female?

The Old Gods are  supposed to be male. At least that's how they are referred to.
If the spirit dictates gender, then Urthemiel's new form will be male. And it's going to be one hell of a good looking kid! (God of beauty).
