I bought a new copy of Mass Effect yesterday. I installed it and also installed the patch plus "Bring down the sky". But when i clicked play the splash screen popped up, waited for 10 minutes and nothing happened. I tried to use the normal exits (alt+f4, ctrl+alt+del) but nothing happened. I realized that my computer didn't respond to anything because my keyboard didn't light up the Num Lock, Caps Lock or Scroll Lock when I pushed their repectively buttons. The only way to close was to shut down the PC. I also updated my drivers after that.
I tried once more, lowering the graphics to the lowest and changing the screen resolution to lower. The same thing happens but now I got past the splash screen and instead I was stuck in the famous black screen.
After the PC reboot, I searched the net for a solution. I found several topics in forums that asked about the same thing. I tried almost all of the solutions but none worked, and maybe because most of them were from Vista or Windows 7 users and I use a XP.
So here's my system specs:
OS: Windows XP w. SP3
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
Memory: 1024 MB RAM
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS
Sound Card: Realtek HD Audio ( I don't seem to find any more info on this
)There. Tell me if I missed something.
NOTE: I've played ME2 on the same computer with no problems...
I am thankful for any help i can get.
