I really do not see why there needs to be all of this nastiness and snide criticism. I also do not see why this thread is not closed. The original poster is very insulting and offensive.

I'd glady pay $40 for crack cocaine and tranny hooker. Good deal.

I agree with OP, the price is £32 from PSN in UK, yet the PC version is £15 from a lot of online retailers. Ok so its harder to program for the PS3 but over twice the price is ridiculous.

We are paying more because we have no other choice and EA knows it. I support all complaints no matter how vulgar/snide etc...

My thoughts exactly, EA have forced us into buying the product as DLC for £31.99 – yet 360 owners can get the full packaged retail version for £24.99.

Regardless of what system you play on and given the number of bugs with the original, the bugs introduced with the expansion, and the multitude of missing content (romances, companion dialogue, etc.) with Awakenings, I'm quite comfortable stating that it's not worth the price at any price.

Not until Bioware makes a serious effort to address its current quality control issues.

I agree that PS3 owners in Europe who want to buy awakening are getting stiffed; however, saying people are being forced to buy it is stretching it. They are stretching it a lot. Just wait to buy it until it goes down. Or don't, it is your choice.

If you live in a disaster zone and your only choice was to buy clean water via the PlayStation Network, you might have a point, but you don't. Keep things in perspective, people.

Okay.

Can anyone here who is complaining about the price claim to own the new game?

PSN UK 32 pounds for Awakenings would be $48.50 USD

Am I right?

32 Euro would be $43 US Dollars.

now wait for it.... N. American PSN $ 40.00 USD

Nearly all of the United States also charge sales tax for retail purchase. So chances are if you bought it anywhere on a Disc in the United States, it would cost exactly the same as in Europe as a download. In England, a few bits more.

Why is owning the game a prerequisite for having an issue with the price?

I find that assertion offensive.

I find coarse and ill-reasoned ranting about the price vs. content of this Expansion without ever having experienced one actual moment of it to be offensive.

Did you know the game also contains graphic depictions of violence?! I am sure many people would be just as upset about that without having adequately informed themselves about the actual contents of the game as well.

If your purchased Awakenings and felt ripped off, then by all means be our guest. Rant away with explicit detaIl, please.

Listen PC games are cheaper because it's not returnable. Console games can be returned and sold as used. Game developers and Publisher don't make more money b/c of this. Thats why they charge more for console, I heard this from a video game programmer. True or Not it's something I heard about this problem.

I need only wade through the support forums to see the new plethora (sorry, I just like that word) of bugs that have been introduced with all versions of Awakenings to know that it's not worth the price. Frankly, I and many others saw that coming though so it's not so much a surprise as a validation.

You are correct that prior knowledge is a major way that decisions are affected. Like right now I wouldn't value a Toyota at it's current price due to their issues even though I've never test driven one. The same holds true here. I can fairly evaluate this product based on the information I can find through research, as opposed to direct interaction, and determine that this one's a no go.

Here we usually don't wash the mouths of our children with soap, maybe thats different in that parallel universe of yours (lol check this guys profile) where every little fanboy starts whining when confronted with a "swear word" or a nude woman

You deserve to get shafted if thats how you feel vonFurious. £32 for an expansion download only is a joke.

Though you probably have it on PC, either way your attitude isn't good for the consumer, which is all of us.

Still no one here owns the game. Interesting.

Why would I be posting in a Ps3 Forum if I had this on PC? You can't be bothered to even read the thread, let alone my posts, so now exactly why is your opinion important?

Seeing how you, just like our OP are incapable of stringing together a coherent thought, let alone a cogent sentence (without mashing the numerical keypad in lieu of actually making an argument) I will simply ask you this: Why do you feel entitled to a launch-day title at the price point of your choosing?

None of you even own the game. None of you have played the game. Is it your fashion to hurl insults and ill-informed opinion as a primate flings its own poo?

And believe me, I most certainly am deserving the "shafting" you've so eloquently wished upon me. I've read the comments/ bug posts. I decided as a consumer what the pros/ cons were after informing myself to the content and character of this expansion. It seems some would prefer to cry to the internets about perceived injustices, rather than actually deal with some vague semblance of reality. Has one poster in this thread shared one experience with the actual game? (I'll save you the trouble of *shudder* reading. Hint: The answer is "no"). But it is clear that many would rather jump into (formerly, nice EDIT Adamazen) profanity curdled, hyperbolic, poo- filled threads to register your dissatisfaction with a product you have not played. Have not bought. Have not seen.

Every minute I have spent with the expansion has just made me feel that more deserving. Especially now since that *gasps* $40 bucks has sent me into the poor house. " Boo-hoo. I play electronic video games for a hobby, why won't someone help me? They're so terribly expensive, its just not fair I have to spend money to get my 20 hours of ultimately self-serving entertainment! "

I would like to discuss, you know, the game. Value is an important topic. I'd like to help the folks who might be on the fence with this one. Awakenings is a very scary purchase for some. It shouldn't be.

For a short time i rly thought those "simple" people who appear at mtv reality shows were professional actors. Thanks to posts like this one i now see the truth...our world is doomed!!!!

But despite of all the nonsense some people have posted here this topic has provided us with an simple answer for the question "Are they serious...?"
Yes they are.
And why shouldn't they when there are enough people like vonFurious. It's not EA we should be angry at...they just see the opportunity...the vonFurious are the problem

Adamzen:

Support your thesis. Are are you not capable? You can barely speak to your own experience, I suggest you try not to project you complete lack of critical thinking skills onto others.

If you care to discuss your point of view, be my guest. I have yet to read a single valid conclusion in any of your posts. You distort, pervert, insult and in general lower the bar (admittedly already low) for internet discourse.

When you start writing in complete sentences, and actually carry your point beyond "whoo-whoo u sukk!!" we can begin to discuss the merits of your "thoughts".

Until then, there still is not one single substantiated opinion on this thread. Monkey poo a plenty, but nothing more substantial than that. Sorry your mum and dad withheld your allowance this week, because right now, you haven't illustrated any other valid reason for the utter lack of insight you keep so effectively demonstrating when you trash something you have absolutely zero first-hand knowledge of.

Here, I will make it easy for you: "I think Awakenings is a bleep-bleep bleeping bleep, BECAUSE...." (this is where the opinion substantiated by fact/ experience usually comes in)

£32 is a joke, so now I have a nice FREE version on the 360 along with a FREE version of DA:O. So Bioware lost out big.

As I have the game am I ok to post my opinion, lord o'mighty vonFurious? I do love it when you have people complaining about people complaining, only on the iternet. In real life I have a feeling you are the spitting image of Cartman in "Make love not Warcraft".

Uhm yeah...to discuss something you need a partner you can converse with. And as it is i don't see you as someone who is 1) capable nor 2) worth of engaging in a dialog.
The fact that you still don't know what the whole fuzz is about shows your limited cognitive potential and with every sentence you write i feel sorry for you in a weird way...

Ps: I'm pretty sure you don't know the meaning of "critical thinking"

What are you talking about? Critical thinking involves hurling insult at something you know nothing about and crafting posts that whose composition consist entirely of "I know you are, but what am I..." playground sophistry? I've never seen someone spend more time spreading around their ignorance than you, sir.

Dude, I defy you to make one post, just one sentence even, that supports your point of view.

If I may summarize what I've gathered from you so far:

Awakenings sucks because its too expensive.

Now that's some critical thinking for ya right there.

Now here's what I think, I keep to to a single sentence because quoting my posts doesn't count as reading them.

I think Dragon's Age Awakenings is worth what I paid for it. ($40 USD). I don't think you know what you are talking about because you have have not played it. (okay, that's two sentences)

Now, tell me why you think its not worth it. I'm listening, are you?

Great, pirate the Xbox all you like, it certainly makes you a King Among Men.

Your sense of entitlement is amazing. So far you are the only contributer to this thread (as far as I know) who even has Awakenings. Share with the class your impressions if you like.

Looks like you and adamzen will get along splendidly, you both can cry about a game you never purchased. Don't let those pesky facts get in the way!

BTW: I'm not complaining about complainers on the internet. I am very happy you all are here. I'm very sorry BioWare/ EA hurt your feelings so badly. Would you wike a wittle wollie-pop to make the boo-boo stop hurting?

EDIT: Now on to the most delicious lolly-pop of them all, Ps3 Dragon Age: Awakenings! (The Download)

umm I do own a copy and I have played through every bit of content both have to offer. I personally think the game is well worth it. About bugs... How many people really find one that is game breaking? For the casual gamer they are barely noticable. My wife hasnt found any while I have found the majority but as I am a programmer I understand the fact that it is completely un reasonable and impossible to expect a game that doesnt have bugs at launch. It really is not a possiblity. Because fixing one bug could lead to another bug due to some minor change in source coding.

@vonFurious 32 pounds is not actually 32 euro :| Besides SCEE uses their own currency rate, which states that $1 = E1, therefore in EU PSStore, the expansion is E39, so it costs $52! For a download only version! You have to agree, that this is unfair :|
