I think my top 5 would be...

1.Deus Ex(Also my favorite game of all time)
2.Mass Effect 1 and 2
3.Castlevania Symphony Of The Night.
4.Final Fantasy VI
5.Starsiege(This title's a bit more obscure but anyone who has played it probably knows what I'm talking about)

Honorable mention:I really hate to do this since I despise the game but World Of Warcraft has truly an exceptional soundtrack.

My vote would go to the Guild Wars games. I have the full soundtrack on my hard drive.

I really like the soundtrack to King's Bounty: Armored Princess and Realms of Arkania 1: Blade of Destiny.

But I think Storm of Zehir (NWN2 expansion) is up there simply for the 3 Sword Coast tavern pieces.

Instead of ROA  Blade of Destiny, I would have said ROA Shadows over Riva. The tavern song is fantastic.

Too many to list. I usually end up picking a random selection every time this topic comes up. The last one was not too long ago in this thread: Link

Heavy Rain's music really fits the dramatic sense of it.

Oblivion and The Witcher are also good.

But my all time favourite is "Cohen's Masterpiece" from BioShock.

I've not listened to SoR's as much, I think. I just really like the happiness of BoD.

Mass Effect 1 and 2. Universe at War. I remember Secret Weapon over Normandy had a nice soundtrack too.

You might disagree with this, but for me Mass Effect 1 and 2 had their epic songs. But too much of it was forgetable and "run of the mill" videogame OSTs.

My top five:

1: Supreme Commander- The soundtrack was epic on all scales, it's really fitting for ushering your armies forth. Done by Jeremy Soule

2: Legend of Zelda- There have been been multiple composers of the years, but all their tunes are really catchy.

3: Halo- Marty O'Donnel's amazing orchestra blows my mind, the drum lines though I can't stand while they are by them selves.

4: Half-Life- When it comes to Valve, music is'nt their strong suite. But it's one of my favs for the music that matches in with the settings and some tunes are quite catchy.

5: SuperMarioGalaxy- Nothinig like a full orchestra but what ever tunes they pull out they have a catchy melody.

Not sure what you're talking about. As far as I can remember, Koji Kondo has always been the composer for the Zelda games. Atleast since Ocarina of Time and everything after OOT was all done by him. Not sure about ALTTP and older Zelda games.

Universe at War! Thanks for reminding me, Frank Klepacki made some really good music for C&C/UaW.

Perhaps Im just not good ar remebering foreign names, but I was always under the impression a few others did some earlier games before Orcarina of Time.  I could be wrong though, some one fact check for me. :P

Koji Kondo has been around as long as Nintendo has made video games. In addition to composing music for newer Zelda games, he has also worked on all Nintendo made console and portable Zelda titles with the notable exception of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, which was composed by Akito Nakatsuka.

On a side note, I enjoyed much of the original Starfox's music. Also done by Koji Kondo...

This has to be one of the best tracks from Zelda/Koji Kondo in my opinion: www.youtube.com/watch

Ah, I do like that track. :) Although I usually pop the arranged version into my player: Link

I like the OST version too though. It's not as overblown. The arranged version sounds livelier and has that sweet violin in it, but sometimes it feels like too much. :P

Shadow of Colossus has amazing music. It creates such an amazing atmosphere...Beautiful and whimsical, yet spine-tingling and eerie.

LoZ music is, of course, amazing. Nothing more needs to be said.

I'm also a fan of Mario music, if only because it is shamelessly upbeat and positive.

Heck no! That version is CRAP! If you want a good re-arranged version, check THIS out. It will blow your mind.

Edit: I soooooooooo hope they're going to use an orchestrated version of that song (like the one in my link) in the new upcomming Zelda game.

Yeah, that version is better but I missed my chance to buy it... and I have this thing about not picking music for these type of threads unless I own the CD. I have to say though, I wouldn't like this in an actual game. It's a bit too relaxing to get me motivated while playing.

Edit: The composer of that CD butchered the Gerudo Valley track IMO. A lot of that track's charm was how raw and frontier-like it sounded. It's just *wrong* remixed with an orchestral touch. It's kind of like the arranged version of The Man with the Machine Gun in the FFVIII arranged album. They ruined a good thing. :P

I own every Zelda cd that's related to Zelda Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask.:innocent:

I was attending college out of state during that time. Affording food was tricky, let alone music CDs. Most of the CDs I did import from Japan back then weren't of game music.
