Deus Ex(Also my favorite game of all time)

Heh its funny, while I wouldnt rate the music from Deus Ex among the greatest video game soundtracks I did really enjoy the music from the game (especially the music that plays when you talk to someone in the Majestic 12 base under UNATCO headquarters on Liberty Island) and I cant really put my finger on why.

However I will rate Deus Ex as one of the best games of all time.

Castlevania Symphony Of The Night.

This would get my vote for best videogame soundtrack by far.

Initial reaction was to say Jade Empire, but that's not really fair... i'll just have to go with Jack Wall's music in general.
The man is like Hans Zimmer of videogames, just hits all the right notes with me Posted Image

@ Luc0s and others: In defense of FF music, I've found that the FFX theme At Zanarkand always brings a tear to my eye. It's just beautifully heartbreaking, and I'm not even an FF fan. (There's also an orchestral version which is even more breathtaking, and which reminds me, you might want to listen to the entire Tour de Japon orchestra series on Youtube before dismissing the entirety of composer Nobuo Uematsu's works. If that doesn't change your mind, I'm not sure what will. :-) )

P.S. I'd add that track to my list of 'best videogame music', since I just remembered it. ^_^

Nope, I don't like the tracks in your link. Honestly, I don't.

The only FF music I really loved was the intro of FF8. I used to love that song (still do): www.youtube.com/watch

I was wondering when SOMEONE would mention Baldur's Gate.  Sheesh!  Awesome music throughout both games.

Some favourites:
Prince of Persia (series)
Halo (series)
Extreme G3
Assassin's Creed (series)
Mass Effect (series)
Jade Empire
Afro Samurai
Chrono Cross
Civilizations IV
Jet Set Radio Future

And I'm not a FF fan (like at all) but I do know I tend to enjoy Nubuo Oematsu's work.

I know Bethseda didn't write it, but Fallout 3 had a great soundtrack.

I was never really into Chrono Trigger's music. I really liked Chrono Cross's OST though. Especially the one in that city place near the beginning.

The BG games,

Morrowind and Oblivion

ME1 & 2

Dragon age origins. . . apart from at the end of the game with the 30 seconds to mars song, i really like 30 seconds to mars and the song this s war, it just didnt quite seem to fit the game properly, anyone else agree?

I think my top 5 would be...

1.Deus Ex(Also my favorite game of all time)
2.Mass Effect 1 and 2
3.Castlevania Symphony Of The Night.
4.Final Fantasy VI
5.Starsiege(This title's a bit more obscure but anyone who has played it probably knows what I'm talking about)

Honorable mention:I really hate to do this since I despise the game but World Of Warcraft has truly an exceptional soundtrack.

Hmmm. . .I can't say what the "best ever" music is in a videogame because it's subjective, but I can say that the videogame music I've heard that I've liked best was in "Silent Hill 2".
