The game is a buggy piece of crap!  I just bought the game from Steam and I can't even play for 3 minutes without the game crashing me back to windows.  What a waste of 50 dollars.

What is it with me and getting suckered into buying crappy first person shooters?  First Aliens VS Predators and now Metro 2033.

There may be a decent game buried underneath all of these bugs but until the developers decide to actually complete this game, avoid it.

You know when I knew not to buy Metro 2033? The first time I saw anything about it. I was amazed they were actually running commercials for an FPS that looks like it came out in '03.

before buying a game check "metacritic.com" or "gamefaqs.com"
then go onto youtube for gameplay vids make sure you don't see a commercial.

Whoa Metro 2033 is a great game.I've seen some of reports of bugs on PC,but I haven't encountered any on my 360(also no crashes :P).My PC couldn't handle the game so I was kinda forced to get it on 360,but it's definently in the 8-9/10 range,as many reviews have pointed out. Also it has amazing graphics...at times one of the best looking games I've seen on Xbox, definetly doesn't look like something that came out in '03.
I'd recomend for anyone looking for a survival horror game on Xbox 360 or a PC(unless bugs are really common with pc users).

You mean your "supercomputer" can't repair the code while it runs it? What the hell?

Use your sword to deflect the bugs.

... I can't even play for 3 minutes without the game crashing me back to windows...

Just finished the game today. Not a single crash so far. No showstopping bugs either - got stuck in the rubble twice when walking outside. Had to reload from last checkpoint.

I was thinking about picking up the game but I keep remembering Stalker and wondering if Metro 2033 will turn out somewhat like it.

Did the same people that made Stalker create Metro 2033 or is it just a coincidence that both games are made by russians?

So is it in fact any good? Does there seem to be anything that triggers the crashes like running certain functions in the game (graphical settings, stuff like that) or are they just random? I'm curious because it's on my list of games to get, but if the bugs hurt the experience I'll wait and see if some patches clear things up.

A few people that worked on the original Stalker, they started their own company. Appearances of these two games feel alike, but the game mechanics are completely different. Stalker is a sandbox/RPG-elements/shooter, Metro is a story-driven shooter where you can purchase weapons/ammo/equipment.

I liked it. Not sure about the settings, I believe the game autodetects optimal settings for the system. I was running DX10, maxed out.
I also wasn't following what problems others are running into, but it appears that the issues are related to drivers/hardware and not the game itself.
