(I think awakening is really good i am not having a rant i found it quite pleasing actualy)
ok im fighting the mother at the end of awakening and things are going quite well, i have sigrun valena nathanial with me, im up close 2 the mother and my partys just supporting me my teams at near enough full health n i have 350+ health potions running about lvl 34-35 and then that one attack that will cripple you when the thing picks up your tank (My pc) shakes him about like a baby with a dam rattle and then throws you the length of the entire room (nt litterly) suffice it to say my character keeled over dead. so im like ok then ill let sigrun take over tank respsosibilitys ( i no not a good idea sigiruns a rouge i foolishly had faith that dwafs make good tanks rouge or not) within 10 seconds nathianials crippled over dead and valena has no mana and bwt 25% health and sigrun is standing there like "o what am i gonna do now" with in 15 seconds of my pc dieing valena and nathianl are dead and sigrun has been jumped on and gettin eaten by one of them children things. I thought this was haleriouss just one attack shifting the balance of the entire battle.
i dont want this to sound like a rant because is isnt more of a bit of avise (this also works with the Arch deamon at the end of origins and cant be boverd to sit on the dam balistas: if your not very good at the game like me and are usualy your partys tank bring a DPS tank along with you just incase your player dies and need somebody who can take the responsibility.
Hope you enjoyed reading this. it is my 1st post where im not actuali asking for help :)

Hmm I will remember that, thanks for the advice. In DAO I finally got smart on my second game and realized when taking on very tough adversaries bring tanks and a healer. Since I play rogue I loaded everybody up on poulstices so I only had to worry about quickhealing myself. I only just finished doing the quests in Amaranthine so I am hoping to get into good nitty gritty playing this weekend. I am glad I kept Duncan's dagger due to the fact there seems to be a couple of dragons to deal with . I am really going to miss Shale as on DAO I had her tactics set up to just pummel and hurl the crap out of flemeth and the high dragon or just any largely massive difficult to kill creature. Worked like a charm :o)

Well... If you are playing on Normal, I used Velanna to Death Hex the Mother and then Death Cloud right in the middle of the fight to wear down tentacles and do the spell combo on Mommy. I also ended up having her do Inferno on Mother as well with Affliction Hex going.

That saved me a lot of time. Sigrun was the only one having any trouble in the fight. Hell, my Two hander guy was still wearing Corruption and Wade's Superior Dragon Bone for the fight and wielding Mother's Chosen.

Stupid Sentinel/Vigilance glitch...

EDIT: If you want to plan for grappling, have tactics set for your party to do grapple breaking moves like Pommel Strike, Stone Fist, Shield Bash etc.
